Our family was comfortable in Whispering Pines.

Cleanliness of unit a bit disappointing as we discovered sand in bed downstairs. Linens and blankets were not freshly laundered.

Great open space

  • 5 of 5

Great stay in this easy well equipped lake cottage. Highlights: big screened in porch where all of our time was spent, big open deck for sunning and grilling and fire pit in the back. Birds and deer a plenty. Great AC when needed or good ventilation with new windows open. Bedrooms comfortable and equipped. Could have used a few more bath towels -- I think their last season ;) but plenty of beach towels. Well.-equipped easy kitchen. Water pressure AWFUL. One shower, or dishwash or load of clothes at a time. Couldn't even use the hose. We survived though. Easy walk to beach which is lovely. I would definitely come back.

Lovely and serene. Great family home!

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Whispering Pines! The photos on vrbo really don't do it justice. It is a charming and roomy cottage with a beautiful rear deck and gazebo. And our family just loved the outdoor hot tub; we spent many hours there each evening.

It is located in a quiet and friendly and picturesque neighborhood. We were able to walk to the beach which is a real plus. Some of the closest beach entrances were washed out, so we had to walk farther, but it wasn't too bad as we had brought a beach cart.

The kitchen and overall house was incredibly well-stocked. Half the things we brought were not needed. They even had lots of beach towels and backpack beach chairs and water floaties. The washer and dryer and dishwasher were all quiet and efficient. We did not try the outdoor grill, but it was nice to have as an option.

The two bathrooms and showers are very small and there wasn't very good washer pressure, but it being an older house, that was not too surprising.

One minor suggestion we would make for the owners is to get more living room furniture; maybe a second loveseat or a larger, more comfy couch. It was hard for our family of four to be very comfortable in that room all together.

The Wi-Fi was excellent. Unfortunately we could not get any cell phone signal in the neighborhood, though.

There is a lovely park and playground within a short walk. That was a pleasant surprise.

The beds were pretty comfortable and the pillows were nice, too.

We thought this cottage was a very good value and perfect for our small family! We hope to return. And Waya was very responsive and helpful.

Close to the beach, great back yard

  • 4 of 5

Overall I was happy with this house. The back screened in porch was great and everyone loved the hot tub! The beach closest to us had almost no beach anymore so we had to walk to another one. The shoreline appears to be eroding so that could be an issue. The appliances were outdated and the washing machine shook the whole house when it was on it's spin cycle. The downstairs was comfortable but if you wanted to get a group of more than four around the tv there wasn't enough seating. The house says there are three bedrooms which is partially correct. The upstairs had two nice size rooms with comfortable beds but another "bedroom" was really just a hallway between them with a twin bed in it. It's best for a small child since it was a little awkward. But the downstairs room with the day bed was spacious enough and had room to put a queen size blow up in there. The house is close to New Buffalo and Union Pier is a little farther down the road. I liked it!

Not What We Were Expecting

  • 2 of 5

The cottage-like feel of the interior was charming, but amenities were lacking and the outside of the building as well as the property was unkempt and uninviting. Wouldn't rent it again.

Owner's Response: Lillian, First of all I would like to say I am sorry your stay was not what was expected. Unfortunately the time of year you rented the outside is not ideal for personal use. The big spring clean up was not completed before your arrival, so there was alot of leaves outside in the yard. We hope you will give us a second chance in the future. Ron

A Wonderful Weekend By The Beach

  • 5 of 5

Our weekend at Whispering Pines was fantastic. The house is cozy and comfortable--the perfect place for a quiet weekend for two. It's also big enough to accommodate a family comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and feel at home.

Whispering Pines is surrounded by trees and is so quaint! We enjoyed a quiet afternoon lounging in the beautiful screened-in porch and found ourselves taking walks around the neighborhood. With the beach only a few blocks away, each morning and night we took leisurely walks along the shore.

You are close enough to New Buffalo, Sawyer, and Three Oaks--all three towns are wonderful places to shop and eat. A great weekend away to disconnect from the world and enjoy the woods, sand, and water in Michiana Shores!
