About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)

Excellent location!!! Our home is just 20 minute drive to the Yosemite National Park entrance, 5 minute drive to the town of Oakhurst, 15 minute drive toTenaya Lodge, 7 minute drive to Bass Lake. Nelder Grove "Shadow of the Giants" is right up the road from our home, on Road 632. Within Yosemite there are so many "must see" places, Half Dome Village, the historic Majestic Yosemite Hotel, Glacier Point for amazing vista views of Yosemite Valley, Badger Pass for skiing fun in the winter months. Our home is a great launching place for all of your Yosemite & Bass Lake adventures!

You'll love the benefits of a vacation home: instead of everyone being separated in the evening as you would in a hotel, you get to hang out with your friends and/or family in the living room or game room! This is an extra bonus if you have kids, you don't have to cut your evening short just to get them to bed. Once you've stayed here, you'll never want to stay in a hotel again!

Our home is surrounded by a forest of Manzanita trees, Ponderosa Pines and other native trees. Overlooking the back deck is a picturesque view of the beautiful mountain ranges, native trees and wildflowers. There is a seasonal creek with trout for the fisherman in your group that is located about 1/2 mile from the house. Sitting on the deck looking out on the pine trees and mountains in the background is one of our favorite things to do!

Our home is a comfortable 1600 sq ft, with a roomy living area downstairs. The room with the pool table is open to the living room where the TV is with a comfy loveseat, couch (with a pull-out bed) and 2 leather recliners. It's a 3-bedroom, 2 bath home. The master bedroom with a Queen bed is downstairs, with a private bathroom that has a shower, sink, and toilet. The laundry room is also accessed from the master bedroom (HE washer/dryer, with laundry pods for your use). Upstairs is a hall bathroom with a shower over tub, sink and toilet; the other two bedrooms are also upstairs. One bedroom has a Queen bed, and the other bedroom has 2 Full-size beds. There are 2 adult-size folding sleeping mats if needed, and 2 pack 'n plays for parents of little ones, along with extra blankets and sheets.

The kitchen has a glass-top electric stove, dishwasher, and coffee pot. We provide paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, sponges, kitchen towels, and garbage bags. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cookware, etc., you just bring the food! We have spices in the spice cabinet as well. The dining table is set for 4, but there is also a leaf available and 6 folding chairs, as well as 2 strap-on high chairs. We have a folding table that you can use to spread out at meal-times, use as a buffet, or take on the back deck to enjoy your meals surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Our home is fully equipped with everything for your stay: propane BBQ grill; fully stocked kitchen; comfortable beds with nice linens; towels for the house as well as separate ones for the lake; pool table and ping pong table and dart board; lots of fun board games; playing cards; DVDs; a growing book collection; cable TV; PS3 for games, watching DVDs or movie streaming; Super Nintendo; Wi-Fi internet; woodburning stove for those crisp, cold fall and winter nights, washer/dryer, central heat & air, and more.

Enjoy your stay in our lovely home!

About Seth or Regina Nelson

My brother and I, along with our wives, bought this house in 2013 from Dave and Erica Moyer (who took unbelievable care of the house). We both greatly enjoyed staying here, and were excited when the opportunity arose for us to acquire it! There is so much to do in the Oakhurst area, including kayaking down the Merced River in the summer, kayaking and boating/fishing on Bass Lake, as well as hiking and exploring in the gorgeous Yosemite Valley. Tenaya Lodge is a short 10-15 minute drive from our vacation home and in the winter it is a fun place to go for sledding, ice skating or sitting in the restaurant/bar enjoying hot chocolate or Bailey's and coffee. Tenaya Lodge also has horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter and is magical to experience at Christmas time. Goat Meadow snow park is just past Tenaya Lodge and our kids have had so much fun sledding there! There are so many other wonderful adventures that Oakhurst & the surrounding areas have to offer, such as the beautiful and rare Sequoia groves. There are also some excellent golf courses nearby.

Our home is in a perfect, centralized location with so many things to do and places to explore that are just minutes from our home. Every season in the mountains is an amazing time: beautiful autumn colors in the Fall; snow in the Winter; wildflowers blooming in the Spring; long Summer days BBQ'ing, kayaking down the Merced river, jet skiing at Bass Lake and the warm Summer nights.

Our little mountain retreat is a perfect place for Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas gatherings, and we love the fact that others can also share their own family memories at our home during the holidays.

Regardless of the season or occasion, you will have a wonderful stay at our home!

Why Seth or Regina Nelson chose Yosemite Area

There are many reasons we chose to buy our vacation rental here in Oakhurst. First off, it is centrally located to so much! We are just about 7 minutes away from Bass Lake; just close enough to be convenient, but far enough away from the over-crowded and expensive rental cabins. We're only 20 minutes from the south gate of Yosemite, a main attraction in the area. Our home is located at approximately 3,000 foot elevation and just below the snow line. When there is a snow storm, we will get snow, but it won't always stick to the ground. That means you can come and go as you please and not worry about getting stuck. The main roads (Hwy 41 going towards Tenaya Lodge) will be plowed if snow does stick.

All the comforts of home are right there: the town of Oakhurst has Von's, Raley's, RiteAid, Blockbuster, Starbucks,Big 5, a movie cinema, hardware stores, restaurants and anything else you might need is only a 7 minute drive away.

We also love that our neighborhood is full of pine trees and mountain views. The houses in the neighborhood are not right next to each other, making it feel more like a mountain getaway, compared to staying in a neighborhood with houses stacked up right next to you.

There are so many places to go out and explore; even without taking a car, you can walk out from our front door and go for a hike in the neighborhood.

What makes this house unique

There are so many places to hike nearby and lots of places to fish and explore. There is the prestigious Sierra Meadows the Country Club in Oakhurst (20 minutes away) as well as the historic Wawona Golf course in Yosemite (40 minutes away). There is kayaking at Bass Lake and Yosemite's Merced River in the summer. We fish at Bass Lake in the Summer and Fall and do lots of hiking & exploring. Nelder Grove, "Shadow of the Giants" is a rare grove of giant Sequoia trees located up the road from our home and has one of the largest Sequoias in the world, 'The Bull Buck Tree'. There are too many places and 'things to do' to list, but just let us know what you are interested in doing, and we are happy to direct you.

Wonderful home to stay at! Warm host.

  • 4 of 5

The house has all the basic amenities. For fun, they have a pool table, ping pong table and a lot of fun games for kids. We enjoyed the deck area and BBQ with family. Host Regina was very warm, made sure she called us ahead of the time, provided all details needed, was easy to stay in touch. The house is close to Bass lake for activities and many restaurants at Oakhurst. We even ordered pizza for dinner. We would love to come back again!

Everything you need is here!

  • 5 of 5

Great location for all the area has to offer! Super clean, well-furnished and stocked. Comfortable beds, plenty of seating, and the laundry room was a plus for our party of 8. The hosts have thought of everything and were super-responsive to any questions we had. You can enjoy nature from the back deck - we saw two flocks of baby turkeys, and stargazing at night is a must. The kids enjoyed the two game consoles, WIFI, billiards and ping pong. Don't miss the ancient sequoias located right near the cabin. Book a Bass Lake fishing tour with Mike at Miller's Landing, and you won't be disappointed - hard to find a better human being. Host Regina suggested Glacier Point at night, and I'm so glad we did it. We sat under the stars in the amphi-theater and listened to the waterfalls and counted shooting stars. Magical!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. Apparently one of the springs in the couch broke. The couch has now been replaced with a brand new couch containing a sleeper bed for added accommodations for our guests.

Great location, Nice home

  • 5 of 5

We had 4 adults and 2 kids for most of the stay with more folks joining us one day. It was very comfortable for us. The one day that we had 4 more folks join us, it was little tight but we preferred to stay in one home. The owners were kind enough to allow additional people to stay in the house and charged us extra only for the days we had additional folks (Thanks a bunch, Regina). The pool table and ping-pong table were nice additions. The biggest plus was that the house was about 15 mins from the gates of Yosemite national park. When we visit Yosemite again, I will definitely be looking to see if this house is available.

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

This house was so cozy. We had 6 adults and two toddlers with us and everyone had a wonderful time! Close to the lake and also to convenient shopping for groceries. The owners are really responsive and ensure you have everything you need. We hope to do the Yosemite half again next year and definitely would stay here again!
