You'll feel like you've stepped into the quintessential beach house when you walk through the doors of Beach Music. This elevated island cottage, which recently underwent an extensive renovation has retained its casually elegant style. The living room is furnished with comfy, blue denim swivel chairs, a blue and white striped slip-covered sofa and an entertainment unit that holds books, board games, and DVDs while hiding the TV and stereo surround sound. Finds from antiques stores, flea markets, and family pieces fill in the rest. The open, gourmet kitchen with a Mexican tiled backsplash is a serious chef's delight that boasts an induction cooktop, steam convection oven and center island with a wine cooler and butcher block top designed for prep work. French doors off the indigo blue dining room continue this comfortable style with painted-white rockers. If a bedroom with a view is a priority, you'll love looking at the water from the cozy window seat in the master bedroom. Another guest room is furnished with a queen bed and a custom built-in desk nook for those who are inspired to write or who may need to keep up with work. A third bedroom, with its brightly colored twin bunk beds is perfect for children. French doors off the living room lead to a screened in deck with a white wicker dining set and chaise lounge perfect for eating breakfast while watching the sun rise or lounging with a good book. Down a spiral staircase is a tropical oasis inspired by the gardens of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Luxuriate in the heated pool and spa bordered with hand painted Mexican tiles. Rinse off in the spacious outdoor shower and then enjoy your favorite cocktail while lounging in the outdoor living area. The mellifluous sounds of the wildlife that populate the adjacent canal may lull you to sleep. You may even hear the waves from the beach only a couple blocks away. And for the environmentally minded, there is a solar paneled roof that powers the house. NO PETS, NO SMOKERS.

What a relaxing and memorable vacation. Deciding whether to walk to the beach, bike around the island, or kayak from the backyard (!) on the canals to the Gulf was our toughest task all week. The house was upscale for what was listed as a "cottage", and we were delighted to find a terrific restaurant right on the beach. Even though its tempting to keep this place a secret, we hope to return and owe it to the owners to rate this place with 5 stars.
We had an excellent stay at this property in September, 2013. The home was fully equipped and in great shape. It is located on a canal. The street is quiet and only a few blocks from the northern end of the island, so there is little to no traffic. It's a short walk to Pine Street where you will find restaurants and shops and also to both the bay side and gulf side beaches and restaurants. We were very happy with this choice and will be back.
