Overview

About the property

Cottage, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Camp George is a perfect quiet get-away for beach goers. This oceanside cottage is clean and neat on a cul-de-sac surrounded by live oaks in quaint Sound & Sea Village in Duck. It's only a short, easy walk(approx. 1000 ft) to the beach that's the most 'dog friendly' of all on the Outer Banks. The cottage is up on pilings, all on one floor so steps are limited. The screened porch is quiet, cool and perfect for family supper gatherings. Open decks provide lots of room for sun and outdoor relaxing. Under the house area is great for kids to play. Shady area for gathering around the grill for picnic style relaxing. There is almost always a breeze.

Enjoy the beach, sand and sea all day and relax at comfortable Camp George each evening. Also the Sound (beautiful sunsets) is a short walk away. A separate bike/walking path are great for exercising. It's fun to bike into the town of Duck. It's the most relaxing camp you've ever been too. Dogs like this camp a lot too!

About Patricia VonOhlen

I'm a retired teacher that loves the beach and loves Camp George. Our two grown sons are both surfers so Camp George gives us a great place to gather with family and friends. Since we live fairly close to Duck, we can maintain a close eye on the cottage. We always want visitors to enjoy Camp George as much as we do!

Patricia VonOhlen purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Patricia VonOhlen chose Northern Coast & Outer Banks

Duck is a wonderful beach with all the best features of the Outer Banks and also dog friendly. The Sound & Sea neighborhood has quiet, unpaved streets that are lined with live oaks. There are birds and other wildlife as well as the beautiful beach and wonderful ocean.

What makes this cottage unique

Clean and comfortable get-away spot to relax after a fun day of sand, sea and sun. The porches and under house area are quiet and private and usually have a cool breeze. We have a hammock under the house that's perfect for afternoon reading (or snoozing) in the shade.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Camp George was absolutely wonderful. Located in a quiet setting just a quick 5 min walk to the beach. There were multiple outdoor seating areas, the house was clean, comfy and perfect for everyone, including the dog! Gated steps so the dog could roam freely on the front porch. Everything was exactly as advertised. Beach cart, umbrellas, sand buckets, corn hole, basketball, charcoal grill, hammock for relaxing...all provided at Camp George. Great location for taking a walk, jog or bike ride on the paved pathway that runs along the main street. Patty was wonderful to work with and couldn't have been more accomodating and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Peaceful Beach Week

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a lovely time at Camp George. I had never been to Duck, NC and was pleasantly surprised by the area. It couldn't have been a better week! I rented the house for my children and I (three college students and a senior in high school.) We rented bikes from a local shop for the week....great decision! We all enjoyed our stay immensely and have already reserved a week for next year!

Well,Well,Well....

Well Located, Well Maintained, Well Equipped, and Well Managed. What else can I say? The property is exactly as advertised. We booked this property based on the pictures of the house and the reviews of previous visitors. Upon arrival we were not at all disappointed, the house is updated, very well maintained and very clean. Situated just a short walk (they advertise 1,000 feet which is fairly accurate) to a lovely quiet beach. The house is on a very quiet cul de sac a short drive from the lovely village of Duck. The kitchen is fully stocked with almost anything you would need for cooking in or having a cookout. Beach supplies… plentiful beach chairs, beach toys… and the beach cart is great throw your beach stuff in it and wheel it up to the beach!

As nice as the house is our favorite room was the screened porch where we ate all our meals at when not dinning out.

Patty, the owner, really seems to get “it” she is very concerned about the tenants enjoying their vacation and very willing to accommodate. She seems to understand that if you provide a well-kept property and treat people with respect they are more likely to respect the home AND return for a future vacation.

I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Now for the negative….. I don’t have any!

Camp George 2015

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Camp George and we loved it just as much as the first time. Absolutely no issues with the house. It has virtually everything you need to enjoy your beach vacation. The house is close enough to everything around, but also secluded, peaceful, and private. Patty is wonderful to work with and genuinely interested that you are having the best stay possible. Would stay at Camp George anytime we visited Duck!

Camp George was great for our family-house is beautiful-well maintained-everything you need is already there.

Patty V answered all our questions prior to coming-couldnt have asked for a nicer home, well maintained home, the sunroom with the hottub and all the porch access was great.
