About Dr. elle Bolt, D.C.

I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and I practiced in my solo office for 16 years. As I worked as a chiropractor I began purchasing houses and apartments. Many of them were fixers. I had fun refurbishing them! A few years ago I sold my Chiropractic business and now I manage my apartments and vacation rentals full time!

I grew up in Fresno, CA and then moved to Santa Barbara to attend college. I then moved to Los Angeles area to attend Chiropractic College. After graduating I returned to Santa Barbara! I couldn't stay away!! I now live in Montecito in the Guest House of the Sycamore Canyon Estate!!

Dr. elle Bolt, D.C. purchased this house in 2005

Why Dr. elle Bolt, D.C. chose Montecito

When I was looking for my next property to buy, I knew I wanted to find one in Montecito. This is because the properties in Montecito can be large with an acre or more and because it is gorgeous, peaceful, safe and desirable!

I wanted an Estate with a guest house, 1 acre, pool, many bedrooms and bathrooms and on a large beautiful street with a long driveway. I found all that in The Sycamore Canyon Estate!

What makes this house unique

The unique benefits of the Sycamore Canyon Hideaway are that it is located in the heart of Montecito on a large beautiful Hideaway amidst the movie stars and the rich! Oprah lives right around the corner! It is also right across the street from Ganna Walska's Lotusland. Look online to learn about this famous property that is seasonally open to the public!

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This home was the perfect place for our family to gather for a wedding. The rooms were spacious and the unheated pool was great for the kids, even in early October. Bedrooms were well appointed and each had a bathroom. The neighborhood was lovely and easily accessible to Santa Barbara activities as well as the not far off and wine country. We enjoyed the gourmet coffee Elle provided.

A wonderful quiet hideaway convenient to most of the attractions of Santa Barbara

  • 5 of 5

The four of us spent a very relaxing and comfortable long weekend at the Montecito Sycamore Canyon Hideaway. The bedrooms are very comfortable, and the living room is a great place to spend relaxing social time. The kitchen is well laid out. Our only regret was that our visit during a rainy February did not allow use of the pool. A great advantage of the property is its convenience to several good restaurants and to State Street. The four of us highly recommend the Hideaway for anyone visiting Santa Barbara and environs.

Location, location, location

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this rental for a family vacation. There was plenty of room for my 3 grown children and their significant others, myself and one of my grandsons. If you have some children the staircase is an issue. We had to block it off to keep my grandson off of the stairs. The pool was great and I recommend paying to have it heated. We are all from CA and the week we happened to be in Santa Barbara was very warm, but the pool still felt cool early in the day because the heated timer only comes on 3 times in a 24 hour period one of which is at about 1:00 AM which is kind of worthless because you can't use the pool between 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM. The location is close to the beach, wharf and Santa Barbara proper. There are great restaurants nearby if you choose not to cook during your stay. The home was clean which is always positive, but the decor is dated. This includes the furniture and linens. There is a difference between antiques and just old and or worn out. There are not enough towels (only two bath towels per bathroom and only one or two hand towels) unless you wash them during your stay which I had to do twice during our 4 night stay. This is not something I want to do when I'm on vacation. There were some "quirks" to operating appliances. There are plenty of notes throughout the home to instruct you on how things can be made to operate and "the dos and don'ts" during your stay. There was also no access to AC which would have been nice during our stay due to the warm weather, nor are there any ceiling fans so it was uncomfortable for most of our stay when we were in the house. The lotions and soap listed as amenities are all bargain brands so I used my own as did most of my guest. During the rental process the owner was very quick to respond and my deposit was returned within two week of check out as promised. There was a note to renters that asked that a review be completed and a bottle of wine and some snacks were supposed to be left to entice a review, but there was neither left for my visit. Just a small detail, but for the price of this rental the review is in the details.

Owner's Response: Yes, these guests came to the Estate. They seem to be nit picky. There is a grand staircase which is shown in the pictures. I have never had anyone complain about them. Yes, I can imagine children would love to play on them , especially if they do not have stairs in their own home. The pool heater and the waterfall at the pool are on a timer. These must come on at equal intervals in a 24 hour period in order to work properly . The pool water stays between 82 - 85 degrees. This process is explained in detail in the house binder which is there on the buffet along with other house information. I am sorry this person doesn't like the decor and furnishings. When booking the property one can see the decor and furniture in the pictures. This is the 1st complaint I have had. I have many antiques throughout the house. These are real antiques! My furniture is not old. Bedding and sheets are replaced frequently as needed. There are plenty of towels throughout the house in all the bathrooms. There are 10 sets of towels in the house + several more sets in the laundry room. A set includes a bath towel, hand towel and wash cloth. If these guests wanted more towels they should have called me. I would have brought extra towels. I don't know what she means about 'quirks' to operating appliances. The appliances work as they should. There is some instruction for the oven because some guests don't seem to know how to use it properly. There is no air conditioning in the Estate. Most homes in Santa Barbara and Montecito do not have air conditioning. This is stated in the listing when one books the property. There is a fan in every bedroom, a ceiling fan in the dining room and a pool! I provide name brand body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. My guests always use these items with no complaints. On the other hand, my guests are happy I provide them! It was this guest's choice to complain and not use them. Unfortunately, it sounds like my inspection crew forgot to put up the gifts of wine and goodies. Instead of writing it as a complaint in an online review, these guests could have called me and I would have gladly brought those to them. Actually, If one were to compare the large Estates in Montecito one would find that mine is one of the lowest priced vacation rental Estates in the area. Please read my other 5 star reviews and take this review with a grain of salt. Thank you very much! elle

Dear Elle,

We had a great time staying at your house. This house has so much character. Plenty bedrooms and each decorated in their own unique and interesting way. We felt very comfortable and cozy. And the location is great and very convenient to get to town and nearby places of interest. Thanks. Ray and family.
