(No elevator-- 4 flight walk up, so if that is a problem stop reading now! . . . 61 steps altogether)
It is the same price for up to 5 people ; if you rent for less than 7 nights there is an extra charge of 60 USD . . . It is just as much time and work to get it ready for 1 night as 7 or more nights
This floor- through apartment is located on the most beautiful block in Manhattan's East Village, lined with weeping willows and other huge trees. The view from avenue C is rather countrified, trees and gardens, but less spectacuar then before hurricane Irene and another storm, but it is still nice. It's an 1890's building renovated in 1993, with new plumbing and electric, and re-roofed in 2013. There are lovely brick walls, an old pine floor, and a beautiful sleeping loft, with a double bed in the living room. A thoroughly charming atmosphere, with lots of sun and air.. . . Air- Conditioned in summer, and 4 fans besides the A-Cs.. . . .and heated all night long in winter, (you can shut off the heat if you want). Kitchen looks out on huge garden with several species of very beautiful trees. 4th floor, no elevator. One week rental minimum, if less than a week add 60 USD to the final price. I will add it to the bill .Payment is in advance , with nothing to pay on arrival, like a prepaid vacation. Pleas insure your trip against interruption, from weather , sickness or unforeseen events, as I cannot offer refunds. Homeaway recommends ALLIANZ
East Village 1s becoming classier daily: This is a growing neighborhood, yet retaining the tradition of smaller, neighborhood run Parks, tended to by volunteers, and ambitious amateurs of gardening, each trying to out-do their neighbors. You can visit these botanical hot spots during the day and on weekends.
Restaurants of different ethnicity have sprung up all over, all new--and these are reasonable in price, and attractive in , decor. There's a little thin crust Pizza store on Avenue B that looks like an old New York candy store (Gruppo). Several French restaurants (Rue B, and "26 Seats") and Esperanto --a Brazillian place on the corner with live Brazillian Musicians often and with sidewalk tables for Brunch on Sundays.
I'm a retired marble worker, I live 2 hours away. I'm really glad to have people stay here. Many people sincerely loved it. SEe Reviews
Owner purchased this apartment in 1991
It is bright and sunny , but has only 2 walls facing outside, so it is nice and warm in the winter. he ceilings are high-8.5feet to10.5 feet high depending on the room.
If it is 90 or more degrees and sunny, the loft is too hot sometimes in the summer, so some guests pulled the foam mattress down and slept on the floor, if there were 5 guests. If there re only 1-3 people you dont need it.
We've had a wonderful time in NYC. Thanks to your apartment, we could rest well and get some sleep in this quiet yet vibrant neighborhood.
We really enjoyed our stay in your original apartment -it contains everything we needed.
Feel free to taste some German chocolate.
(they left a giant bar of white, dark and milk chocolate as present.)
The pictures are very misleading. The beds are 2in pieces of foam on plywood. The landlord, while very nice, was there when we got there to clean the apt. We thought his last renters had just left. He said no. The beds had been slept on, he sent the sheets out to the laundry. Stayed and ate his dinner. After 4hrs, I told him we would finish making the beds. There were urine stains on one of the mattress pads. The pillows were very stained with possibly drool and urine. We found a hotel after 2 nights. Not the way I wanted to start my vacation. I would definitely ask for updated pictures. This was my first time using VRBO and I must say I was very disappointed.
It was difficult for my family of 5 adults to find an affordable apartment to rent in Manhattan, but Tom's apartment was the perfect solution. Great location, convenient neighborhood, and a MUST when searching for a one of a kind New York experience!
Flat very clean with all you'd normally need. Crammed with a lifetime's acquisitions. No WiFi. Hard to tell which flat it is when you arrive. Owner could be clearer about this. Area (East Village), of course, just great.
Apartment was clean. Stocked with everything you need. The mattress was thin but tolerable. Many extension cords throughout, smoke alarm was in pieces. We just needed a place to sleep and this fit the bill. Tom is a good owner, very friendly and easy to work with. He was there to meet us when we arrived.
Owner very helpful & very quick follow-up
Space was comfortable for what we needed, and Tom was a good host. You have to be willing to deal with four flights of stairs and the search for on street parking, but that was part of the adventure for us.
A renovated apartment in an historic small building (1890), with new plumbing and electric. It has a nice size tiled bath, beautiful views on a tree lined block in the popular East Village, right in the Garden District. Ninth Street has a weeping willow, and gorgeous views. Old wood floors, and long expanse of exposed brick, a lovely sleeping loft with high ceiling, and dining area. The kitchen is large and looks out on a big garden full different species of trees. The big living room (12 x 24ft) with oriental carpets, has a double bed . Air conditioned in summer; heat all night in winter. Sleeping loft is optional if you require a normal level bed, if your party less than 4.
