Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)
This is a unique piece of old Florida on Snead Island. We remodeled the apartment in 1997 with hickory floors in the living/dining room. The kitchen has hickory cabinets with granite countertops and a slate floor which flows into the bathroom. The bedroom is carpeted and has a select comfort queen size bed with cherry furniture, including a desk, TV and VCR. Living room and bedroom have cathedral ceilings and cleaestory windows. Living room has plenty of seating to enjoy the 46' HD TV, DVD, VCR or CD players, along with a gorgeous view. New Laz-Z-Boy queen air hide-a-bed with matching love seat.
The apartment 'tree house' is nestled amongst hundred year old oaks on two acres which include a citrus grove and pond. When in season, you can enjoy tree ripened mangoes and citrus. While having breakfast on the porch, you'll have a beautiful view of the Manatee River. In the evening, watching the sunset while having cocktails by the fire will provide a chance to see the manatees swim past the boat dock, or you may choose to watch the sunset from the Jacuzzi.
We are 1 1/2 hours from Disney World, and hour from Busch Gardens and Mote Marine, a world class aquamarine research facility which gives tours.

About Capt. Bob Willard
Cathy's grandparents settled on Snead Island in 1957, she's called it home ever since. We've been married since 1980, at which time we moved aboard our 32' sailboat. For the next 20 years we lived and worked on private, corporate and charter boats, Bob as Captain/Engineer, Cathy as 1st Mate/Cook. We now enjoy racing our 22' Morgan sailboat and riding our Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Capt. Bob Willard purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Capt. Bob Willard chose Palmetto
It's been in the family since 1974. We lived in the apartment, now we live in the main house.

What a wonderful setting right on the Manatee river. Peaceful, quiet and very relaxing. Went kayaking at the Preserve down the street and saw lots of wildlife. Our hosts were extremely nice, polite and very friendly. Will definitely be going back to this location many more times!
This Snead Island getaway was wonderful. Thank you Capt Bob and Cathy for sharing your paradise with us. Absolutely beautiful. Everything was great and I would not change a thing. Hope to visit again soon.

Share a slice of paradise!
The Tree House is a roomy beautifully appointed suite nestled in the trees, above a garage on a two acre estate at the mouth of the Manatee river.
Our hosts, Cathy and Capt. Bob live in the main house and are pleased to share their version of paradise with their guests.
The suite is furnished exquisitely, as if the owners lived there, which the did for many years. The views are marvelous, sunset every night, birds, wildlife....paradise.
Next door...Emerson wildlife preserve, with walking trails, wildlife, and...more paradise.
Oh, and make sure you visit The Clam House for dinner. A special treat!
Thanks Cathy and Bob. You were most gracious hosts.

The space, quiet, nearby nature trails, and pelicans diving for fish helped make this a perfect escape from the city and theme parks. The kitchen is well appointed and our teenagers greatly appreciated the internet and boundless tv channels (we even picked up world juniors games - somewhat obscure hockey - as a pleasant treat).
Beautiful bayside rental
Pictures and description are accurate. The owners have a very peaceful retreat home and make you feel like a guest in their home. They are very gracious hosts and always present. They were very easy to work with, everything was beautiful and in working order. You couldn't have asked for more from the space.
We really enjoyed the beautiful cleastory windows and the view of the bay.
The area is very secluded and safe. There are no exterior locks on the treehouse and we had no issues whatsoever.
Our dogs loved walking in Emerson Point Preserve which is literally right out the front door!
Beautiful beaches were only about 15-20 miles away on Anna Marie Island.
Snead Island treehouse is a little slice of heaven!
Beautiful old Florida charm
Cathy and Bob are warm and friendly and welcomed us to their very cozy and updated treehouse apartment. The surrounding big oak trees make for a very peaceful and relaxing stay. And watching the wildlife from the balcony or near the water is a plus as well. We will definitely return!
Emerson Point Park is a short walk from our property and takes up the entire NW tip of Snead Island rather than the small area shown on Google map.
