About Katie Farrell

My husband and I live on the property. We have a small organic garden and chickens that provide fresh eggs every day. My husband is a boater, water-skier and generally makes time in the early morning to ski. In our spare time, we make wine and play tennis.

Beautiful, idyllic country setting, great for visiting wine country and nearby Portland

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the Northwest, and we couldn't have picked a better location from which to stage our day trips. The guest house is well appointed, located on a beautiful, serene setting along the Willamette River. The Farrell's are gracious hosts, offering us use of their kayak, as well as access to their chicken coup for fresh eggs! Their friendly Golden Retriever was always there to greet us when we returned from our sightseeing excursions. The heart of wine country is just up the road, and downtown Portland is only 30 minutes away. Within 2-hour's drive are Mt. St. Helens, the Oregon coast, Mt. Hood, and the Columbia Gorge. There are excellent restaurants nearby, and Portland is renown for these as well. We highly recommend this property to any couple looking to explore this beautiful part of the country.

A great place to stay while exploring Oregon Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the Farrel guest house back in June and loved it! The apartment is absolutely adorable. It is drenched with sunlight in the morning and has a beautiful veiw of the river. It was a great jumping off pointfor our visits to the surrounding wineries. The guest house is comfortable and well equipped and our hosts were very gracious. We enjoyed sitting by the river in the evening and enjoying a glass of wine (our host even gave us a bottle of some he had made himself). We also enjoyed getting eggs from the chicken coop for our breakfast. The neighborhood is quiet and beautiful with families and family pets enjoying the great outdoors. I highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway

Charming country apartment

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a very memorable stay at the Farrell's guest house. The house is located right on the river and the views of the river and gardens are lovely. We stayed in August and their vegetable garden was abundant. We enjoyed picking tomatoes, basil and more. Yum! The apartment worked out well for us - it is charming and cozy and fit our needs perfectly. The owners were extremely nice and treated us like old friends. They offered the use of a 2-man kayak and we enjoyed rowing along the river. We have family in the Portland area so I am hopeful that we will return to this lovely guest house in the future.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Will definitely be staying here again! Easy access from the freeway, and along a beautiful and quiet river. The landscaping around the property is excellently kept! The photos do not do this place justice as it is even better in person. The guest house itself is very clean and cozy. It comes with a large shower, comfy bed and views of the river from the kitchen. The owners are VERY welcoming and friendly. I loved how quiet it is at night - all you can hear are the crickets. I am very much looking forward to staying here in the future!

Fantastic place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We were a traveling couple without kids and this was just a great place to stay. It is about 20-25 minutes south of Portland so it still gave us great access to the surrounding metro area and attractions. It's off away from the interstate so it's nice and quiet and right on the river, making for beautiful morning views.

The rooms are over their garage but it was put together so wonderfully that it felt like home. The owners were extremely friendly and their pets were friendly, too! Their St. Bernard demands affection and we loved him. They also have a chatty kitty that also wanted some attention. We are animal people so we loved it but if you are allergic you should let them know so they can do something beforehand. The room itself was very clean and well designed. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were top-notch.

It was a great value for the money. It wasn't that much more expensive than local hotels and you get a much better experience. We would stay here again if they would have us!

Beware of the St. Bernard (McEnroe) - He'll love you to pieces!

We used this charming apartment as a home-base while visiting friends and family to the north & south. It's cute and reasonably clean, and well appointed. Lots of toiletries available, as well as a hair dryer & ironing board. The closet was on the small side, and the drawer space was limited. The comfy sofa in the living room was really just an oversized loveseat. A bit cozy for two oversized adults. The one lane road leading to the home took some getting used to, but once on the property, the setting was beautiful. We enjoyed fresh veggies from the garden, and a glass of wine on the river. Quite a few steps to the dock, but well worth it. We would be happy to stay here again.
