About The Owner

We are a group of five siblings and cousins (3 pictured) who are collective owners of this property. The house was built as a retirement home for our great grandparents in 1936. This, and the adjacent property (not included in this rental), has been owned by the same family, descendents of a Nantucket Quaker whaling family, since 1892. We value tenants who appreciate the history and beauty of Bass River along with the abundance of fabulous recreational opportunities available.

The Owner purchased this house in 1892

Why The Owner chose Yarmouth

When our great, great grandparents first purchased this property in the 1890's it took a full day to get there from Boston, by 'stage' to Old South Yarmouth Village. Historical documentation about the early days along the river are available to peruse in the house.

What makes this house unique

The Cottage combines a unique, historical ambience with all of the modern amenities and attractions that Cape Cod has to offer. The salt air and smell of pine trees haven't changed in centuries. The house is filled with antiques, paintings, books and reminders of historic Cape Cod. The ebb and flow of the tides become part of the daily rhythm of life and one can watch the boats passing by from the top of the beach steps or participate in many of the activities the river has to offer - swimming, kayaking, birding, or just enjoying the ebb and flow of the tide as an onlooker.

This is a really unique place. The location is ideal- quiet and accessible to water. The house has real character that catches authentic Cape Cod and made my family feel right at home. THank you!
