Home away from home this house is ready to welcome you to your perfect vacation destination
The house was clean comfortable and ready to be a home away from home. The kitchen has all the utensils cookware and dishware needed to prepare meals and the Food Lion is just a few minutes down Route 12 as is a lovely seafood store. The bathrooms were clean and the showers had great water pressure. The bedrooms were comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets on hand. The view from the living/dining area was spectacular with breathtaking scenes of the ocean for sunrise and moonrise The quiet secluded beach is steps away over a sand dune path with great shelling opportunities for the kids . Our two dogs were welcome and enjoyed walks on the beach with us all week. The outside shower and hose made for easy sand removal before stepping back into the house. There are plenty restaurants and quaint shopping opportunities nearby. The Hatteras lighthouse is not far. I highly recommend a stop at Beans and Beads coffee shop for a caffeinated drink and a chance to bead your own necklace or bracelet. The owner of Airwaves is accommodating responsive and a pleasure to deal with and rent from. The house has puzzles books and games for a rainy day and with multiple tv's and wifi you are always connected. All in all a perfect vacation destination
WOW Bernadette, sounds like you enjoyed the property as much as you told me so on our telephone call. I truly appreciate all the good press on your review as I know that it truly helps others make a good rental decision. Hope to see you back next year and I'm happy the house was as good as advertised . Ciao !!
I was highly impressed with the communication of the owner. We knew the water would still be pretty cold for an early April trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Just a short walk to the beach and plenty of things nearby to enjoy. I was worried that being an hour south of the entrance to Outer Banks. No worries, very relaxing. I definitely want to go back to this prorperty in the summer!
Great Family Vacation!
We spent last week in Avon, NC. This house was perfect for what we needed. We took our adult kids, and 3 grand kids for a family vacation. A beautiful view every morning, with a cup of coffee, on the deck! I watched many sunrises. The trip to the ocean is over a dune, but very easy to get to...the three and five year old's had no problems. We felt it was a good work out, considering all the extra food and beverages that go along with a vacation. The house is very conveniently located to the Food Lion grocery store, where we made many trips! The prices at the Food Lion are great. The room that has the double bed, didn't seem to have the circulation like the other bedrooms did, and it didn't have a screen on the window, so they didn't dare open it at night. Loved having the washer and dryer available, so we didn't have to bring a bunch of dirty laundry home. The WiFi and cable went out on Friday morning....this was our last full day there, so it really didn't bother us too much, not sure what the reason was. Overall, this was a great place to stay, and I would recommend it highly!
Awesome location, beautiful home, pet friendly!
I "ditto" all the five star reviews. This home is located on one of the best beaches. Bob, the owner, was easy to work with and his maintenance crew did a great job of rectifying some issues within 24 hours. I highly recommend this home to any one interested in a place that has it all....location, views, beaches!
Perfect for the extended family!
The house was very clean when we arrived and the layout was perfect for the two of us our two children and their spouses and one toddler grandson. We loved the views and the beach. It is a workout to get over the dune, but you can feel yourself getting stronger every day. Do watch out for the hot sand on those hot sunny days. Great place for the sunrise walk on the beach and the sunset view toward the sound. The nearby sound beach is a perfect place for toddlers with easy access, just to the south in the park.
Happy to hear you had such an enjoyable vacation. The cleanliness of the house is foremost and that is why I include it in the rental fee. Come back and visit us again !!!
Lovely beach house with beach access comment
We arrived on the 4th of July and were very pleased with the home. The 4 bedrooms are on the first floor along with 2 bathrooms and the laundry area. The second floor is a great room with a large living area, dining room that seats 8 comfortably and a lovely remodeled kitchen and a full bath. The ocean front deck was great with seating for all of us (3 couples and a baby). The crows nest deck was perfect for watching fireworks off the Avon pier. The house is conveniently located in Avon with the Food Lion just a short drive and many restaurants and other shops close by. We ate at Ketch 55 and loved it. Only 2 of us ventured to the pool since the weather was so beautiful we spent most of our time at the beautiful beach. Driving to the pool is recommended. Loved not having to fight for a spot at the beach like we were used to doing at the northern beaches. The walkway to the beach is challenging. The sand is soft and it is long and the other side going down to the beach is steep. With beach chairs, unbrellas, etc., along with a baby and a cart, it was a chore getting there. Getting back was even more difficult. Snowshoes came to mind when trying to climb the dune from the beach. Add that to scorching sand, be advised that wearing shoes, not flip flops, is necessary. When it is hot, People with small children should be advised to wear shoes and socks to prevent their feet from burns. This is not an exaggeration. The family renting the home next to us said this was their first time renting here and they considered bringing their elderly parents next year but when they experienced the path, they said their parents would never see the beach. I know the dunes are protected and I'm sure this is why there is only a path and this was confirmed by Bob, the owner. I Just think people need to be aware of what they will be dealing with, especially those with babies and small children or families with elderly people. Bob also told us that recent storms caused the deep sand issue and that there is a public walk way about a 100 yards down the beach. So this could be an alternative to climbing the dune. This was a wonderful relaxing vacation with our kids, their spouses and our 7 month old grandson and the house was a perfect fit for our family. Bob was great to deal with and very concerned that we had a great time.
Thank you for your comments and valuable input. There is an alternative boardwalk for beach access approximately 150 feet down the beach if needed. The weather at the Outer Banks is very changeable throughout the year and sand pathways can definitely move a bit from time to time. The path is approximately 70 feet from the house through the dunes to the beach and the soft sand can add to the energy needed to make the passage but the beach is well worth it and the fact that you generally had good enjoyment is great news. Just a reminder to all my guests/prospective guests, my phone number is clearly posted at the house. A quick call to me can often times be helpful. Enjoy !!!!
