The Owner purchased this house in 2002
On our first visit, some 15 years ago, we were captivated by the natural beauty and recreation opportunities of Lake Almanor. We purchased the lot in 2000, and completed construction of the aBear Den in 2002. Our extended family has created many precious memories here. We hope you will as well.
Being right on the lake is our favorite feature of this property. Being close to 'rec area 2' adds to the convenience. We love the country club golf course. Summer family activities at 'rec area 1' are wonderful, especially Sunday concerts. Late night boat cruises and star gazing - You can almost touch the Milky Way!! And the crème de la crème is the 4th of July fireworks at the point - Not to be missed!!
We had a wonderful stay! Everything was perfect. The house, the weather, the WATER, perfect perfect perfect. Beautiful home with EVERYTHING you need!!!!
The location and accommodations were top notch! Our family of 12 were very comfortable and we never felt like we were on top of each other! The house is well aquanted with all you need! The view is without question spectacular and the dock came in so handy accommodating all our toys! Thanks a million Sue and Gabe for sharing your home!
It's sometimes not interesting to read glowing reviews. They sound fake or phony, almost like an advertisement. It's easy to ignore a five-star review, for what could you really learn about a property?
Perhaps you could learn that this property strikes the perfect balance between the professional and the personal. It is professional like a good hotel is professional -- everything in the place feels new, clean, beautiful and quality. It's personal because unlike a hotel you really feel that you are staying in a private home. For a week (or more if you're lucky) we felt like we had the best of everything: great beds, fantastic kitchen and bathrooms, laundry, a grand table for ten, spectacular views of Lake Almanor from all bedrooms (except the kids rooms), huge decks for enjoying drinks and watching the sun set, a perfect sound system in any room run from one of our iPhones, two separate rooms for the kids so younger kids could go to be earlier and teenagers could sleep in later, a dock on the water for our boats and kayak, tons of parking, oh and a game room for memorable nights playing pool or card games with the whole family.
We had ten people: two families of four and two grandparents. It was perfect. The house could easily hold three families. The game room has a full bath for "extra" guests.
The photos in this listing show all you'll get. The owners delivered a completely professional and yet personal experience that is exactly what you want for a family vacation at the lake.
It had everything right down to comfortable beds.
We enjoyed our time at the Bear Den.
Great views. Lovely furnishings. Fun game room.
Plenty of parking. Loved dropping the boat and Seadoos in
the water and using the dock and bouys.
Plenty of room and lots of fun. Looking forward to next year.
Thanks for letting us enjoy your lovely home at the lake!
We truely had an amazing time.
My wife has wanted our family to go to L. Almanor for years. She finally got here wish. The first thing and best thing she did for this trip was renting Gabe and Sue's house.
Everything about the house exceeded our expectations.
• Great location - 3 or 4 docs down from REC 2 for launching.
• Directly across the lake from Marina for fuel and occasional dining.
• The house itself was spectacular.
• 3 Decks – big and awesome
• Game room – the kids paradise
• Gourmet kitchen – we ate almost every meal at the house (spacious and modern)
• Great rooms, bedrooms, dining, etc. the pictures on the web-site do not do the house justice
The house reflected extreme pride of ownership. It was impeccable. I was actually concerned my kids might mess it up. There were ten of us and we never felt cramped or falling over each other. The teenagers - when they weren't on the water hung out in the game room. Terrific (BTW - check out the eight ball). Kitchen, dining area, bedrooms, common rooms were all top notch. We felt we were staying in a private resident or 4-5 star hotel suite. Decks were large, modern, and functional. We ate every dinner on the upper deck (all 10 of us at one table).
The lower deck above the dock was very functional and the dock itself became the most popular hangout spot during the day. We had two jet skis and a ski boat and still had ample room.
If you want a first class, well designed, functional, and upgraded throughout home to enjoy your time on the lake – this is it.
We strongly recommend this residence at Lake Almanor - we would stay again and certainly encourage our friends and family to do the same.
