Complete and Convenient

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our recent visit to Kona Shores. The condo had everything we wanted and was close enough to the "action" and other attractions/beaches on this side of the island. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the poolside view of the sunset was a nice perk, too! The owner was very quick to help with reservations and information to access the place.

Convenient to downtown Kona condo

  • 5 of 5

The condo was very clean and had all of the amenities needed . The small , but comfortable, screened lanai had a nice view of Mauna Kea on clear days . We appreciated the corner apartment with good air flow off of the ocean and the access to the pool and shore within easy walking even for older visitors.

This is a second floor condo so the 17 steps to the upper deck make it inaccessible for many handicapped people.

The owner was very responsive and gave us helpful local information . This is a real bargain for the area.

Owner's Response: The guests were very nice people. The stairway has a landing about halfway up to rest if needed.

Nice place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Kona Shores. It is very nice property, well equiped and well maintained. Close to Kona city center and to city beaches also.

If you do not need four star hotel, it is right place for you.

base of operations

  • 5 of 5

Visited kona for 8 days with my father to scuba dive. Spent most of the day every day on the dive boats, and this was a very comfy place to come back to. Building is a little older but very clean and well equipped. I enjoyed cooking at least one meal a day and was great to buy food for the week and have snacks and food for on the boat readily available. Private parking spot was right next to the unit, making it very easy to bring all our gear back and forth. WiFi was fast and I would lounge by the pool in the evenings. Was a very good value for us with all the amenities you don't get a motel. If you want a high end resort look elsewhere, but if you are want a nice place to lay your head when your not exploring the island then give these great people a call.

Cozy, clean, easy access to everything

  • 4 of 5

The unit I stayed in at Kona Shores was perfect for one person. I was surprised that the bed and kitchen shared space, but hey... it worked! The kitchen was very well stocked, the bathroom was large, clean, and had plenty of towels. The ceiling fans were amazing and I didn't need to turn on the a/c once. I did not spend much time out on the lanai because it faces a parking lot, but it was also well stocked (cooler, boogey boards, space to hang beach towels, stuff for the BBQ grill, etc.)

The property is clean and the pool area overlooks the ocean... quite a nice spot to return to after a day at the beach (there are a couple of beach spots within moderate walking distance). Just don't forget to rinse off the sunscreen before hitting the pool! People were super friendly both at the pool and in the common area by the grill. Definitely get to know the neighbors, it will help if you over-shopped at the grocery store like I did.

My one complaint was the noise in the morning, starting around 6:30 AM. Car doors slammed, trucks needing new mufflers were started, work crews appeared. It was ok that I was forced to start my day early, but for those who might want to sleep in, it isn't great. There is also no elevator, which I didn't find to be problematic but should be mentioned for those who might need/want one.
