Property type cabin

About the property

Two Bedrooms, 1 full bathroom. Sleeps 4 comfortably with 6 possible ( 2+kids)

Silver Creek Retreat is nestled in the Nantahala mountains and 12 miles from the Entrance to the Smokies, Our cabin offers comfort, quietness and fresh mountain spring drinking water. Centrally located in Western North Carolina near Sylva, Dillsboro, Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Bryson City, Cherokee, Franklin and Whittier, there are fun activities and great dining for all tastes and ages. The cabin has central air and heat, a washer that also dries your clothes, A beautiful creek is across the road, A private small waterfall and pond on property, hiking trails are nearby without driving, and a peaceful front porch with hardwood rocking chairs makes our cabin a special place to stay. Fully equipped kitchen has all the dishes and cooking utensils needed should you want to cook at home. Direct TV and a stocked library of DVD movies for those that want to stay home. Come visit, enjoy.

Information Guide: We have assembled a binder with information about the fun activities, restaurants, places to visit based on our own experiences. This binder also tells you all about the cabin and how everything works. We will meet you at the cabin to make sure the accommodations are what you expected and to answer any questions you might have about the area or our cabin.

Dine in our Dine out: Many of our guests think they have to dine out all the time until they realize they would rather stay home at our cabin for many meals and just relax. The cabin has been our second home for years so it is equipped with everything you need to make as many meals as you like. It does not have a dish washer or garbage disposal as we felt that they did not belong in a rustic in the woods cabin.

Our Pet Policy: Many of our guest like to travel with their pets. We welcome pets but have learned some people over extend that welcome. We have had some trouble with mulitple large dogs that are not controlled by their owner. There are many places in the great out of doors for dogs to get very dirty. After one guest left we were cleaning up the cabin for an entire day because of the dirt, silt, hairs and stuff we could not even identify. We have had to modify our pet policy. If you bring a large dog or dogs, we would prefer that they be kennelled when left alone in the cabin. Small dogs never seems to be a problem as they do not wander off into the woods getting covered with 'who knows what'. If you bring a large dog that you cannot or do not wish to control, & you do not clean up after the mess it makes, we will have to charge you an extra cleaning fee or even damage charges. We have learned from our experience that large out of control dogs can actually cause damage to our nice clean cabin.

Awesome cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very nice and made things very easy on us during our vacation. It was my girlfriend our dog and 3 kids myself. We all enjoyed the stay, the scenery, and the Silvers are very friendly and welcoming. Too bad they are selling the place because we would definitely love to come back again.

Very quaint cabin nestled by a creek in the mountains--

  • 5 of 5

A quaint little cabin nestled in the woods. The neighbors were closer than I thought but still far enough away! I could listen to the sound of the nearby creek for hours. We loved our stay. Very close to all the places we had planned to visit-- Bryson City, Cherokee, Maggie Valley and we found Waynesville that is a sweet main street. Waynesville was very much worth the visit and Dillsboro though not much of a town had an awesome restaurant, Kostas.

So peaceful

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here during the fall. Everywhere we saw the gorgeous palette of color. The best part was enjoying the season from this quiet cabin in the woods. The cabin is very comfortable for one couple or a small family. We kinda had two couples as our two pups were with us. It is a great place for pups to romp and play in the front yard. Would like to thank the gracious owners for allowing us and our pups to have such a wonderful stay at their cabin.

The most amazing feature of the cabin one could totally enjoy was a mountain stream that trickles outside the back door. Would be great in the spring when you could leave the back door open and enjoy. The falling water is a soothing sound.

There are a lot of comforts within the cabin, which allow you to enjoy the comforts of home in a secluded area. Just a bit of warning. For those who couldn't care less about being plugged into the tech world, this is a great choice. If you need the Internet or cell service, then continue your search.

Owner's Response: Cell service is only Verizon in our area. This is nothing we can control. Other cell service is available in the local towns. If someone does not have Verizon this is not our fault. As lf as the internet is concerned, A recent guest broke the component that allows us to be the only cabin in the area with internet. When that gets fixed we will have internet again. I explained this to the guest but I guess they were not listening. Considering how much service and care we give each guest and how we explained the problem it is too bad they were not listening and dissed us.

Great cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. It had everything we needed for the week and the owners were very helpful when we got there. It easily fit our family of 5 plus our dog. Our 3 kids loved exploring the creek near the house. We were able to leave the screen door open in the evenings to hear the spring outside the back door. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a home away from home.

Serene and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

I really enjoyed our stay at Silver Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Silver try very hard to make you feel at home. They supply just about everything you need and are available to you 24/7 if needed. Due to the terrain cell phone service is spotty at best but he does supply a land line for local calls and emergencies. A word of caution for those with small children, the water gets very hot so be careful. The cabin was very clean and well cared for. I really enjoyed being able to open the back door and being able to hear the small waterfall that is on the property. We were there a week and I think I heard five cars go by. There are several small communities within a 30 minute drive to go enjoy and plenty of water sports around. If you want to get away and enjoy the peace and beauty of the mountains this is the cabin for you. If I decide to vacation in that area again I will definitely stay there again.

About L R and Jeni Silver

We lived for 30 years on the West Coast of Florida. We came up to the mountains for a vacation and fell in love with the area and the people. We used our cabin as our vacation spot until we finally moved just two miles down the road from the cabin.

L R and Jeni Silver purchased this cabin in 2004

Why L R and Jeni Silver chose Whittier

We had visited the Sylva/Dilllsboro/Cherokee/Bryson City area on a vacation and were looking for a cabin to purchase so we could frequently visit the area.

A few months after visiting the area a realtor sent us a picture of the cabin.

We fell in love with it and purchased it. We stayed in our cabin often and left it just the way we had it when we stayed there. Beautiful pictures on the wall and lots of other fun decorations that make the inside as comfortable as the outside is beautiful.

What makes this cabin unique

Most of our guests love the very quiet setting for Silver Creek Retreat and sitting on the front porch feeling the breeze. We have been told the cabin has a magical feeling of serenity. Come and see for yourself.
