Property description

Built in 1828, the rambling historic home has two sections the farmhouse and the lodge. The farmhouse offers a living room, huge dining room, well-equipped kitchen, three bedrooms and two full baths. The lodge is a converted barn that has a great room with a large fireplace, a second equipped kitchen, five bedrooms and two baths. The combined areas are seamlessly joined and offer a grand and cozy retreat. Ten acres offer fields, forest, a pond and the Williams River for rock hopping and swimming. The pasture is perfect for weddings are can accommodate a large tent. This unique home is perfect for sports enthusiasts with Okemo Mountain just a short drive down the road. Wi-Fi accessible. Visit the Reunion House. Where memories are made!

Setting: Located on Route 103 and Smokeshire Road on 10 acres, the historic home has approximately 1 acre of mowed lawn and an additional 3-4 acres of meadow. Beyond the lower meadow are woods with an old worn grassy road to an intimate upper meadow which contains a small pond - not suitable for swimming but a great destination for hiking. Smokeshire Road is hard packed county-maintained dirt road that meanders along the river and is excellent for hiking and walking through the bucolic woods. In the warmer weather, one can sit on the large rocks or swim in the cool pools of the Williams River. In the winter, a toboggan path cuts through our woods and is perfect for sledding, tubing or practicing a snowboard run. The meadow is perfect for cross country skiing!

Weddings and Reunions: The Vermont 1828 Reunion House is the perfect place for reunions and weddings, as the large pasture can accommodate tents and parking. Surrounded by the Green Mountains, the nestled pasture offers an intimate setting yet easily accessible from Route 103. The house is an excellent place for the reunion or wedding party to stay and memories will surely be made! Please inquire about certain provisions when hosting a large event to maintain the integrity of the 1828 house. Local caterers are available to assist with your event.

About: The Vermont 1828 Reunion House is "Where Memories are Made". Built in 1828 the historic farmhouse is the perfect place for large family gatherings with dinners in the dining room and cozy conversations in front of the roaring fire in the lodge. There is plenty of space for privacy as well as ten acres of woodland and pasture for exploration. The woods, meadow, and hills also include a small pond. And the beauty of the Williams River located next to the house is a beautiful spot in any season. Over the years, the warmth and character of the home have welcomed many a visitor. Whether snow-loving-folks visiting the covered mountains in winter, rugged hikers in the spring, or leaf peepers admiring the red sugar maples, each visitor has been wrapped in the nostalgic warmth of this quintessential farm house. Eight bedrooms, each unique in historical decor, and four bathrooms allow for ample space for guests. With two kitchens connected with an old fashioned pass thru window, meal preparation becomes a family affair. Did I mention the commercial grade Wolf Stove? This home is ideally suited for family and friend reunions. Clubs, associations, artists, musicians, snowmobilers, antique hunters, the list, goes on and on. All who have stayed have found a home away from home at the 1828 House. The adjacent barn is a living relic, and one can marvel at the primitive construction from another time. Currently, it is filled with a ping pong table, foosball table, and even a punching bag to provide an outdoor game area. With plenty of parking, dirt roads for walking and clear star filled skies at night, your cares will ease, and your focus will shift to the love of being with family and friends, enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
