This is by far the best way to explore the San Juan Islands! My friends joined my husband and I for two wonderful nights on the Gypsy Lady. We visited Sucia Island, Roche Harbor and even saw the Orcas outside of South Beach. The owners - aka Captain Bill and Chef Lois - paid attention to every detail to make the trip world class. We got to travel just after the boat was freshly painted and it looks like a new yacht. We enjoyed using their kayaks, cruising around in their Boston Whaler, hiking around Sucia Island and just sunning on the top deck. Book your trip now- you will never forget it!
This is a wonderful boat skippered by a lovely couple--Bill and Lois could not be more congenial and helpful. Really easy to "hang with."
We spent two days and two nights, anchored in the Sucia island cove, after departing Friday Harbor, and were struck by the beautifully-maintained boat, gorgeous scenery, ample space, and attractively-presented, tasty food. Lois' corn and potato chowder was especially memorable as was the bread from the local Friday Harbor bakery.
As well, the boat does not displace much, so sleep was very easy. My son and husband particularly enjoyed motoring around the cove and islands in the Boston Whaler (smaller motorboat); there are also two kayaks, should the water and wind cooperate.
My teen daughter was happy to hike around, a bit, on Sucia Island, and stretch out, alternately reading and napping.
We were thrilled to be amidst so much beauty and tranquility and will, on doubt, return.
My son, frankly, is ready to be adopted by Lois and Bill--a significant endorsement.
We enjoyed a delightful two night stay on The Gypsy Lady while it was in Friday Harbor. The location of the marina could not have been better - steps from the ferry in the heart of the quaint village of Friday Harbor. Thank you Captain Bill for providing a memorable experience - a five star floating hotel!
This trip was everything my family hoped it would be - from beginning to end!
From the start we received all the information needed to ensure we got the most out of our time in the San Juans, including a variety of destination options. Bill met us at the boat dock - which is only a short stroll from the harbor - and Lois prepared us lunch as we set off on one of the best adventures I've ever been on.
The boat itself is gorgeous and well maintained. The decor is so comfortable and exotic, it really sets the mood for a great time! The two bedrooms are both extremely comfortable - far more so than many hotels I have stayed in. All of the meals were phenomenal and they took special care to cater to allergies and preferences.
We enjoyed seeing porpoises and different birds as the boat cruised along, we sunned ourselves on the upper deck or relaxed on the cozy sectional couch with windows running the length of every living room wall. When we arrived they put the kayaks and smaller boat in the water and we enjoyed going on a small water tour of the small islands off of Sucia Island - so gorgeous! We enjoyed a dinner on the "patio" as the sun set and Mount Baker glowed in the distance.
Both Bill and Lois were extremely helpful and had a lot of information to share about the islands and their own adventures. We have already recommended this trip to two other families and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves the water/boats/the Pacific NW/relaxing/adventure.
Thank you Bill & Lois for a great time!
