This beautifully appointed, very unique, custom built cabin is available to rent, either nightly or by the week. Aptly named “The Tree House” for the trees, built into the house!
Enjoy beautiful lake and mountain views, luxury bedding and all of the comforts of home.
Whether it’s for Summer recreation, Fall foliage or winter skiing, it is a perfect place for a romantic honeymoon, family getaway, couples getaway or family reunion. Located on pristine Watauga Lake, you have access to 106 miles of shoreline and are surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest. The lake and mountain views from this cabin are spectacular.
The Tree House is the perfect place to 'escape' the daily grind and enjoy nature's beauty from the comfort of a well-equipped lakeside cabin. It is a short walk to the private, community marina and gazebo, where you can swim, enjoy a 2 person kayak that is provided, tie up your own boat or jet ski or enjoy a 24 foot Bennington Fish and Cruise Pontoon, for rent exclusively by Tree House guests. You can be busy every minute, or simply sit by the water's edge and relax.
Enjoy the lake, hiking, Grandfather Mountain, the Virginia Creeper Trail, Bristol Caverns, Golf at Red Tail Golf Club, zip line at Off The Grid, go with a guide at Trophy Water Guide Service and fish the trophy trout streams in the area and many more great outdoor activities.
Pet Policy: Well behaved pets are welcome with an extra security deposit of $150, and an additional $25 cleaning fee. Pets must be spayed or neutered, current on all vaccines and treated with some form of topical flee treatment, like Frontline, one week prior to arrival.

About Kim Matlack
For years, my husband and I have been looking for a 4-season place to get 'out of the rat race'. We love the outdoors, and wanted a place to do it all-hike, boat, snow ski, fish, golf, horseback ride....and relax. This past Fall, we finally discovered Watauga Lake and The Tree House. It is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we have seen. We immediately fell in love with it and hope you will too!
Kim Matlack purchased this Cabin in 2009

Wonderful cabin with everything you need to make your vacation a great one!
Beautiful cabin. Accommodated all 9 of us perfectly with ample space to have privacy. Well-equipped kitchen, plenty of linens. We absolutely loved using the fireplaces and cooking big breakfasts before heading out each day. It truly was a wonderful vacation!
We had a wonderful time at the treehouse. Everything was perfectt and the home is gorgeous. The owner, Kim,did a great job communicating with me about details for the house and surrounding areas. My family had an awesome Christmas vacation. We will definitely visit again and highly recommend the treehouse.
This is my third visit to The Tree House on Lake Watauga. Beautiful view, updated amenities, easy access to shopping, trails, skiing, boating, fishing and the list goes on... The best owners that take pride in their amazing cabin they are so gracious to share with their lucky renters. Bring a good book or a good pair of hiking boots; you set the tone of your vacation. We already have our dates saved for next fall to again immerse ourselves in the Appalachian Mountains.
