About Shelly or Kate

I reside in San Francisco, California, moving from Charleston, South Carolina about nine years ago. I miss the rich and unique culture of Charleston, but have grown to equally love the Bay Area. Discovering Tahoe has even deepened my appreciation for the vast geography of Northern California, and the variety of desirable, as well as accessible destinations that surround me. Oh yes, my golden retriever also loves all of the dog friendly people, swim spots, trails, cafes, resorts, and boutiques that Tahoe holds.

Shelly or Kate purchased this cabin in 2006

Why Shelly or Kate chose Lake Tahoe West Shore CA

Tahoe is my panacea! It is amazing how my mind eases and my tensions dissipate as soon as I pass through Blue Canyon when driving on 80 East into the Sierras. The beauty overwhelms me with inspiration and motivation to press on in life and keep striving to move forward.

What makes this cabin unique

One of my most cherished moments at the cabin is waking to the silence of the mountains, and raising my head up to look out of the window to a pristine blanket of snow against a glimmering cobalt blue lake. The experience is so pure and surreal to me each and every time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Kate,

It was a great holiday for us. We just kept saying wow at the views from upstairs in the morning and the HT all the time. beautiful! I came home to my broken screen door. The frame on your screen door is bent in one spot so if they just replaced the screen it may have a short life. There were no coffee filters but we went to the bakery and that was some awesome coffee. The fireplace is really great! That was a great investment! If you need a handyman call me I may be able to help. I am crazy busy at work but may love the distraction.

Thank you for sharing your place!!!

Great location and Price!

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed 4 nights at the cabin, it was clean and the fireplace/ heating system was Great! We really enjoyed the hot tub on the deck with the Lake view. We literally saw several people stop to take group pictures right outside the cabin along the street, Lake Tahoe view in the background! The cabin was well kept and was a great comfortable place to relax! We hope to return.

Cozy place for Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We loved our getaway to this quaint cabin for Christmas. It has great views of the lake that are not fully apparent in the pics. If snowy, it DEFINITELY helps to have 4 wheel drive (especially to get up into a semi steep driveway). The kitchen has enough basics to cover cooking duty. The couches are very comfortable, and we enjoyed lounging on them while watching the snow storms through the big windows in the living room. We will definitely be back. It was SO nice being able to bring our dogs on our holiday, as they are part of our family.

The cabin is a very welcoming and cozy place with a beautiful view :)

  • 5 of 5

The overall feel of the cabin is just what we were looking for. A nice getaway with a very warm fireplace and nice view to enjoy a couple drinks too. I would recommend this cabin to anyone trying to enjoy the feel of what Tahoe has to offer all while having a beautiful cabin to relax in. It offers a nice size hot tub on the balcony along with a comfortable seating around it. I will definitely be staying here again in the years to come. The other plus is the owner is very professional and responds immediately to any questions you may have. Definitely worth it and hope the next family can enjoy it as much as mine did!!! :)

The views, the location, the hot tub, the coziness of the cabin, the utilities... it's all there and it's even better than the pictures. Katherine was very responsive when reaching out to her and made our stay feel very special. Make sure you have CHAINS in your trunk if you drive up during winter. We will be back!

Great little cabin

  • 4 of 5

Great location. Super quiet. Clean. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever you needed by way of utensils. The owner got back immediately if we had any questions. Downstairs bed had a good mattress. Fireplace worked great.

All about the location and the view!

  • 4 of 5

The owner provided pertinent information in advance for our stay. We arrived and had no issues getting settled in for the week. The home was well equipped with all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The home was clean upon arrival and met our expectations. We would gladly return for another stay. One minor detail but not a deal breaker is that the living room furniture could use a gentle cleaning or be replaced. We absolutely loved Tahoe City, the home is located very close to the main strip, the beach and not far from Emerald Bay and DL Bliss, both worth the drive!

Owner's Response: I really appreciate the time you spent to write this review, and I am very happy you both enjoyed the stay. I also truly appreciate you sharing about the furniture being due for a clean, and I have to apologize, as your stay was near the seasonal transition clean for the furniture and carpets, as that is actually scheduled for October 11th. So, sorry about the timing. Thank you both for being such wonderful guests, and hope to have you back! Kate
