About Jerry and Sally King

Jerry and I have lived in the Monterey area for over 40 years. We are newly weds just celebrating our 9th anniversary. Jerry has property in Carmel Valley where I now live and so my beautiful Monterey house has become available for vacation rental. I have enjoyed living in Monterey and still volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Jerry and Sally King purchased this house in 2000

Why Jerry and Sally King chose Central Coast

It was my wife's home when we were married 9 years ago and we now live in Carmel Valley, 30 miles away.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy the bike trail, restaurants, the Aquarium and some of the many events such as the Jazz Festival, The Blues Festival, races, etc.

I want this house!

  • 5 of 5

My brother and his family, along with my parents, rented this house over the 2013 Columbus Day weekend. They came from the SF Bay Area to help me celebrate my 60th Bday, and I love in the Monterey area. This place was SO clean, well stocked, and graciously decorated. A great deal of love and taste shows in this inviting home. If you ever want to sell it, I'd love to buy it, smile. (Kidding, have to win the lotto first, but I did buy tickets this never knows!). My visiting family (including 2 teenagers) felt at home here and we were able to share a lot of fun with my Bday. It's a short 3-block stroll down the hill to the Wharf and downtown Monterey. Longer to Cannery Row and the Aquarium, but doable. If I didn't live in the area, I'd rent this lovely home for the weekend too! Thanks Jerry and Sally!

Weekend vacation

  • 5 of 5

Recently my family and I enjoyed a two night stay in Monterey. There were three adults, one small child and an infant. The house was very comfortable and had all the conveniences we needed. I did read in another review of this property that it is within walking distance of the aquarium. With two children, the walk would be about 30 minutes.

The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. The owners met us upon our arrival to welcome us and acquaint us with the house. I would definitely repeat if had the opportunity!

Quiet, away from the crowds, convenient to MIIS

  • 5 of 5

We relocated our son up to MIIS (Monterey Institute of International Studies) and needed a place that was near the school and had room for our family of four to stay comfortably and to work on his move. This rental home met all of our needs! It is walking distance to the school, and ended up being walking distance from our son's new place. The owner (Sally) was so gracious to wait for us to arrive (an hour and a half) late and gave us some recommendations for dinner and where to get groceries. She also pointed out a "shortcut" path along the edge of the Presidio that enabled us to get to Cannery Row easily and without getting in the car.

This home is VERY quiet! I have stayed in hotels in Monterey and Seaside and have never gotten a decent night's sleep at those places because of the noise level.

The home is equipped with all of the kitchen tools you'll need for cooking (although we mostly ate out), The high-speed internet was great for all of us with our iPads, iPhones, and laptops. I appreciated the washer and dryer with the supplied detergent and fabric softener. The garage is large enough to park two cars inside. On the chilly mornings it was wonderful to turn on the gas fireplace and sip a cup of coffee.

We definitely plan to return to this home with our family when we come to visit our son. Highly recommend!

Perfect Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the house to Fisherman’s Wharf or the Alvarado Street main downtown area and maybe another 15 minute walk from the wharf area to the Monterey Aquarium. Lover’s Point and a small grocery store also are within easy walking distance. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go and didn’t have to rent a car. We used Monterey Yellow Cab for the ride to the house and back to the airport and to the mall, and their service was very good. We had great meals everywhere we ate at Fisherman’s Wharf and also had great meals at the Greek Restaurant and the Korean Restaurant on the street a block east of Alvarado Street. The house was very nice, clean and comfortable, and in a nice neighborhood. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for cooking, eating and cleaning up. With three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and nice size living room, kitchen, and dining room, we had plenty of room for three adults and a 16-year old. The owners followed up with us to make sure that everything went well during our stay at their house and the neighbor next door was very friendly and helpful with information about the town. It’s one of the nicest houses we’ve rented on VRBO, and we would stay there again.

You won't be disappointed!

  • 5 of 5

This home was extremely clean and very welcoming. There was plenty of room, yet enough privacy for our two families to thoroughly enjoy our visit together. You can walk to Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and all its attractions. Watching the deer in the morning was fun for the kids too! Would highly recommend!!
