Birds Nest is a contemporary retreat nesting in the trees of Higgovale and overlooking the Mother City and majestic Table Mountain.
This ultra modern open plan getaway, a home away from home, cleverly constructed by an acclaimed contemporary architect from wood, steel and glass, with modernist angles, clean lines and surrounded by trees is overlooking a breathtaking Cape Town panorama . Either escaping the hustle and bustle or seeking some time off, 14 Higgo Crescent calms the spirit and lets mother nature do the rest when floating in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub or taking it easy in its shade.
Whether you are in Cape Town on business or on holiday in our beautiful Mother City, this is one of the best locations to be. It is equally close to all major beaches, tourist attractions, life style areas and the city itself, yet you can retreat from all this immediately into this more than 2000 sqm property with its lush, extensive gardens.

The fantastic Bird Nest
We have rented Bird Nest twice in 2016. Now in December we stayed for 14 days. Why? Well, because it is an absolutely wonderful place! Perfect for an adult couple who want to enjoy the simple luxury. It is perfectly situated in a leafy residential area on the outskirts of the city and with a stunning view of Table Montain, Lionhead, City Bowl and the sea. It takes five minutes to walk down to Kloof Street, one of the city's main streets. In just as short time you go by car to the M6, one of the world's most beautiful roads. The house's owner, who lives next door, are both so friendly and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. In our welcome package this time was the most delicious apple cake. We will be back again!

A great hideaway in the vibrant Cape Town
Andreas and Africa were very warm and welcoming. The property is as good as it looks, beautiful, spotless and in a pretty setting with fantastic views of both Table mountain and Lion's head, and also the city and the sea. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this for a couple looking for a great hideaway in the vibrant Cape Town. 100% recommended!
Words cannot begin to describe just how wonderful this apartment is
Just returned from two idyllic weeks in Cape Town. The apartment, it's location, the gardens and the views are beyond stunning and even better than the pictures show. The hospitality of the owner and his partner was unlike anything I've experienced or could have hoped for....and greatly contributed to the whole experience.
Providing you're fit, Birdsnest is the ideal venue for exploring the city on foot. Table Mountain, Lion's Head, Camp's Bay, Signal Hill, the City Bowl, Bo Kaap and the Waterfront are all within walking distance and the trendy stores and restaurants of Kloof Street are only 5 minutes away. Although be warned....the apartment is so amazing you may be tempted to never leave.
I can't wait to go back!
Amazing and beautiful!
We consider ourselves unbelievably lucky to stay in Andreas and Afrika's studio. The surroundings are quite simply beautiful to look at, Table Mountain behind you and the lights of Cape Town twinkle in front of you every evening. The location is easy for cruising around Cape Town, the beach or to take day trips. We greatly enjoyed the nearby restaurants and shops, including Bombay Bicycle Club and Coco's for coffee. It's a quick trip to Long Street if you want do a little shopping.
Andreas & Afrika were very easy to work with via email, from suggestions to the money exchange. The space is stunning - inside and out! I only wish we had been able to go swimming. Next time, we have to visit in the summer rather than winter.
Sometimes pictures can be oddly deceiving on VRBO, so I wasn't sure what to expect when we booked this spot. It completely exceeded our expectations. Stunning views of Cape Town, especially at night, and an incredible view of Table Mountain with Lion's Head Mt. sitting right behind the house. Fully equipped kitchen and the shower was like a massive waterfall pounding on your head. Plus their stereo system allows you to plug your iPod in...nice touch.
It's a short walk down to Kloof street where there are a plethora of restaurants and shops. You've got to try Bombay Bicycle Club as well as Cafe Paradiso...both located on Kloof St. Great food and wine. We also enjoyed having drinks at Mount Nelson Hotel which is close by.
The owner, Andreas, could not have been nicer. Very hospitable.
I hate to sound petty but the only draw back was no WiFi, which comes in handy when you don't have a phone or you need to search for restaurants in the area. So for those of you who need to stay connected, walk down to Cafe Paradiso where they have WiFi.
You can't go wrong with this place. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this spot to anyone.
