About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

FOR PAUSE or FOUR PAWS

Welcome to our mountain retreat, where you can relax in comfort surrounded by soothing amenities. This three bedroom, two bath single story home backs up to Madora Creek very near the Feather River. The living room has vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace and a 42' flat screen TV. Hardwood floors, area rugs and eclectic furnishings invite you to relax, put your feet up and stay awhile. The living room is open to the kitchen, which boasts stainless steel appliances, as well as a separate dining room and a breakfast nook.

The master bedroom has a King size bed, gas fireplace and views of Madora Creek. Relax in the soaking tub or wash the trail dust off in the separate tiled shower. Two sinks and a walk-in closet are also right at hand.

The other two bedrooms are on the opposite of the house, affording privacy for all occupants. The front bedroom, which faces south, is illuminated by early morning light-a great place for that first cup of coffee. The third bedroom has a King size bed and, like the master bedroom, also has views to the Madora Creek corridor. Both guest bedrooms are large and tastefully furnished.

Outside, the landscaping is a reflection of the mountain terrain of which it is a part. In the front there is whimsical yard art and a seating area shaded by a colorful market umbrella-the perfect place for a morning cup of joe or an evening cocktail. There's also a fire pit for warmth on a chilly Sierra evening, as well as convenient for a helping (or two) of s'mores. The back patio overlooks Madora Creek and features market umbrella's, pavers and comfortable casual seating. Either use the bar-b-que or easily bring food from the kitchen, just a few short steps away.

THE AREA/OTHER ACTIVITIES

There is something for everyone in Plumas County, especially in the Graeagle area. The town itself features quaint little red and white buildings which house an assortment of shops, dining opportunities and indulgences-ranging from home made truffles and ice cream to wine tasting and yoga. If you enjoy hiking there are endless trails that run the gamut from a leisurely stroll to heart pounding treks to the higher elevations. All offer spectacular views and most take you to remote lakes, streams or waterfalls. Mountain biking trails are everywhere and fishing choices abound. If golf is your game, you've come to the right place. There are five championship courses within approx. a twenty minute drive (Graeagle Meadows, Whitehawk, Nakoma Golf Resort, The Grizzly), one of which (Plumas Pines) is within walking distance. All have excellent practice facilities and views to die for.

There are also many fine restaurants in the area offering all types of cuisine in a variety of settings. There's a wine bar in Graeagle and a micro-brewery just outside Blairsden-just about anything you might want to do and it's all right at your fingertips.

Delightful, very homey.

Appreciated the items to help with house keeping. Lots of cute touches that made it feel like we were visiting in someone’s home. I was grateful for Chris being so readily available when I needed to be reassured about the details. Made our stay fun.

It was indeed a mountain paradise for our family

  • 5 of 5

We reserved this property several months in advance and had quite a bit of correspondence with the owners, Keith and Chris, before our trip. They were so helpful and friendly and answered all of our "pre-trip" questions. The house was welcoming, updated, clean, comfortable, and we did not want to leave! The furniture was comfortable and the decor charming and fun. One of our favorite things was the very large back patio with the forest as our back yard; not the golf course and not another house. (Even though we did take advantage of the near by golf course during our stay) We spent much of our time out on the patio eating and playing games.

Our trip was a mini family reunion with our grown kids coming from out of state, including our pregnant daughter who went to college in near-by Quincy, CA and met her husband there. Three years ago they were married at The Barn in Graeagle. This was a fun trip back for them to connect with many local friends and family. We asked permission to host a baby shower on the back patio, and the owners were very supportive of that wish. We ended up with 30 ladies and everyone fit comfortably on the patio.

One of our sons, an avid golfer, has rented locally with his friends on several occasions. I overheard him on the phone telling one of his golf buddies that this house wasn't as big as the one their large group had previously rented, but it was a lot nicer. Then he asked me how I found this house. (For future golf trips, no doubt)

I also have rented other condos in the Plumas Pines area and have always had a good experience, but this was just a step above in the updates, friendly and available owners, and a fabulous atmosphere. Another plus for our family was the ample parking, with a large two car garage and a long and wide driveway.

Thank you Chris and Keith for sharing your home with us!

Ok

  • 2 of 5

The home was dirty, very dusty. When I turned on the fan in the Master bedroom dust flew everywhere. We had to clean the back deck, and many other places I spend to much time cleaning. It was hot and smoky, and there is no a/c. My cleaning fee should be refunded.

Good location.

Owner's Response: We are disappointed that our home did not meet your expectations. We take a tremendous amount of pride in "For Pause" and we strive to maintain very high standards for cleanliness, decorating and overall maintenance-both inside and out. We had been there just before you arrived and we cleaned before we left and also had it professionally cleaned by our regular housekeeper, who we know works hard does an excellent job. I had just cleaned off the back patio but if the wind blows the pine tree's will distribute needles, cones and seeds far and wide, that's just part of living in the forest. Since you had just contacted us to request an early check-in, which we allowed, it is unclear why you did not reach out to us upon your arrival to register your complaints. I'm sure that just about everyone who was staying in the area that week was uncomfortable with the unusual heat wave and smoke from multiple fires, unfortunately we cannot control these factors. Under normal circumstances when it's hot closing the house up during the day and opening it at night has always kept the inside temperature comfortable and the a/c keeps the kitchen, living room and dining room at a desired temperature.
