Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)
Our stuga (that's Swedish for 'vacation home') is truly delightful. It is located just off Highway 1 in a small, tranquil condominium complex only two short blocks from the beach. On quiet nights you can hear waves crash, buoys ring and sea lions bark. As a second floor unit with an ocean view, great natural lighting contributes to making it the perfect coastal retreat. Due to the quiet nature of our complex, this unit is available to rent for a minimum of 30 days or more and is not suitable for children.
With wood floors, contemporary furnishings and a soothing color palate of turquoise, blue and pale green, it's a sublime place to relax. Open the sliding glass door and feel the ocean air embrace you. Turn on your favorite CD, watch a DVD, or enjoy gazing at the Pacific. When you're hungry, look through the restaurant guide or stay in and cook. The dining room makes a nice space to share a meal, play a board game, or work a puzzle... The options are endless.
If you prefer, take a walk to the beach; Morro Rock to the left, Cayucos Pier to the right. The sunshine reflects off the ocean waves. Once you've completed your refreshing walk, head back to the stuga. Take a bath or shower, drink a cold beverage, have a peaceful conversation, or light the barbecue awaiting you on the balcony. Take a moment to inhale, to exhale, to appreciate your surroundings. Watch the sky turn purple and pink, yellow and orange, as the sunset allows you to reflect and contemplate in anticipation of tomorrow...

About M Hendrickson
Whether in Sweden, the lake country in Minnesota, or the Central Coast of California, for generations our family tradition has been to keep a small, simple, 'sommar stuga' to relax in during weekends, holidays and vacations.
M Hendrickson purchased this Condo in 1994
Why M Hendrickson chose Cayucos
While living in the Los Angeles area in the mid- 1980s, I fell in love with the beauty and slower pace of the Central Coast during a camping trip to Morro Strand. Prior to that, I didn't even know Cayucos existed, much less how to pronounce it! A move to California's Central Valley in the early 90s made our dream a reality.
What makes this Condo unique
Cayucos has been called 'the last of the authentic California beach towns' and part of its charm is being able to park the car and walk everywhere. On the other hand, a seemingly endless array of activities are available within an easy drive. Even after all these years, it seems we still discover new places to go and things to do.

An Ocean Lover's Paradise
We have loved every moment of our month at the Stuga. Cayucos has great weather and a beautiful beach, which is only a short block from the Stuga. This area has so many pleasurable options to explore in every direction. We've attended outdoor concerts in San Luis Obispo, visited vineyards in the Paso Robles area, hiked many trails up and down the coast, and enjoyed fabulous meals in local restaurants. Marta's Stuga couldn't be nicer with all the comforts of home including a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable living room furniture and beds, lovely linens, and a great deck where you can see and hear the ocean. She has provided all the entertainment one might need including a great selection of DVDs, games, magazines, and binders filled with local information. She's thought of everything! We will definitely want to come back to this little slice of heaven. We have stayed at many vacation rentals, but this is the best by far. Marta is so friendly and helpful and makes everything so easy and comfortable for her guests.
We totally enjoyed this wonderful condo in Cayucos where we had not visited for over 30 years. The town itself is a walk back in time. Many great antique stores and wonderful restaurants. The beach was very close and we walked with our small dog almost every day. The condo itself is well outfitted: wonderful beds, great kitchen accessories and great view. It is very close to many other great places to visit such as Cambria, Paso Robles and San Simeon. Wonderful deck from the living room that we were able to see the migrating whales along the coast. We highly recommend this great condo!
Our 6 week stay at the Stuga
The condo was immaculate. and better equipped that our own house. We walked the gorgeous beach, ate the best fish dinners and enjoyed the fresh produce at the Farmer's Market. The condo is cozy, We were happy to be there. Also Marta, the owner was very helpful and made sure that our stay in her Stuga was as promised, Our stay from April 15 to May 31 was a great vacation.
An outstanding retreat on a modest budget
This was a perfect retreat for my adult son and me to relax, walk the beach, tour the surrounding state parks, hiking trails, Elephant Seal viewing areas, Hearst Castle, and other charming towns closeby like Cambria and Morro Bay (Iong boardwalks along the ocean, fine restaurants, interesting art galleries, unique clothing stores, whale watching, boat rental, etc.). On the one or two rainy days, we enjoyed snuggling into the comfortable living room furniture with books or our laptops (wi-fi provided). and listening to the surf in the distance. The Stuga is spotless, charmingly and tastefully decorated, comfortable, and appointed with everything we needed for daily living; the owner is very pleasant and helpful. The condo complex is small, largely owner occupied, and quiet, two blocks from the beach, on a hill; from its balcony you can see the water over the houses in front of it and hear the sound of the surf. It is a second floor unit, with garage below, so not suitable for visitors who have difficulty climbing stairs.
Always a wonderful experience.
Although California was for many years my home, I had never fully experienced the Central Coast until my wife and I took a road trip from our home in Washington State. Since that first trip we have made several more trips and on each of these trips we have stayed at the Stuga. We have greatly enjoyed all of our stays. This is a clean, quiet, and comfortably appointed condominium. There are wonderful views of the Pacific from the second-floor balcony and it is only a short stroll to the beach or to shops and restaurants in the charming town of Cayucos. For us the location was also ideal for short day-trips to areas both to the north and south. On each of our stays at the Stuga we have felt as if we were staying in our own cozy, seaside, get-a-way. We hope to stay again soon.
Had a wonderful time!
I had a wonderful time in Cayucos and your place couldn't have been any nicer. It was great to be able to sit on the couch and read a book and look up and see the ocean or sit out on the balcony and have a little barbecue. The location is so perfect for access to the beach, downtown and jumping on the freeway to other coastal towns. The bed was very comfortable and I was able to sleep really well there.
Overall I had a great experience staying at your place.
Wine tasting and bird watching; Hearst Castle is just 20 miles north up Hwy 1
