Perfect for our group of 12

  • 4 of 5

Another fun weekend in the books. Upon arrival, key from lockbox didn't work but property manager arrived onsite within 15 minutes of being notified of the issue and gave us replacement keys. Later in the evening, a fuse blew due to hair dyer use. Again, property manager arrived within 15 minutes and fixed the problem. Beds were generally comfortable and house was stocked w essentials. Downstairs queen bed needs to be replaced (squeaked upon every movement). A larger fridge would be nice given the size of group it can accommodate. Overall, a good experience.

Clean, spacious, and convenient.

  • 4 of 5

This property easily accommodated two families with children for 10 days. Nice separation of bedrooms. Love the open common room and kitchen on the upper level with the nice deck and view (although this would be a problem for someone with mobility issues). Clean and well stocked. Location is super convenient to the port and beach and a short drive to shopping and parks. We will definitely look to book here again.

Crappy, dirty vacation house

  • 1 of 5

An advertised 5 minute walk to beach, more like 15-20 mins. The down stairs is dark, dirty and has a stink to it (Musky, mildewy smells). Patio not sealed and splintered, easy to get splinters in feet. Kids must wear shoes. Upstairs isn't too bad just make sure to bring your own cooking, baking and cleaning supplies. The oven, stove, dishwasher, and fridge are very dated and old. No room for the kids to play outside, location is very congested. Next door is an old beat up abandoned trailer along side house that's unsafe. There are many doves that fly around the house and wake you up early in the morning going coo!, coo! will drive you crazy. Make sure you clean up after yourself, the cleaning lady isn't that kind of cleaning lady which explains why the house isn't very clean to begin with. Master bathroom is also dated and toilet seat is broken and extremely small. Lots of internal water/pipe noises in house at night time (just a note for those who have children). Fan in master bedroom missing fan blades so you cant use it or it shakes lights and bangs, its broken. We have rented in Brookings before and unfortunately this rental is over priced and not a very good rental for the price they are asking.

Owner's Response: Wow, first bad review ever! Some people are not going to be happy unless you provide everything brand new! It's hard to hear such cruel insults from some people when you share your beloved home with them, especially when they're not true!! Our home is what you would consider a real beach house, that has all the comforts of home! I love to hear doves, and the sound of the ocean, this person must be a city dweller and only blame her inability to enjoy her family, so she picked on my house, sad! As for there being no place for kids to play! She probably do not even look in the back yard, and the home is on a quiet dead end, my kids loved it, they played ball in the street! Most people come to Brookings to go fishing or to the beach! All in all, some people will never be happy no matter what you provide them! P S, it only takes my five minutes to walk to the beach!

Just okay, won't be back

  • 3 of 5

Out of the many vacation rentals I've stayed in, this one is the most disappointing. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk away not 5 as described. The house is large and it's nice that the downstairs is its own little unit. 9 of us stayed for a week and there was enough space.

Cons: the unit was not thoughtfully stocked at all. There was only 1 roll of paper towels, no kitchen sponge, and not enough wash clothes for everybody. The kitchen appliances are old and terrible to the degree that we gave up on using the stovetop. The unit advertises accomodating 12 yet besides a place to sleep for everybody it did not as there weren't enough coffee mugs or drinking glasses for all of us. What little storage space available is stuffed full of musty linen so one has no choice but to live out of one's suitcase. This was particularly annoying as it's so easily rectified. There were numerous spots on the walls where there was trim missing or areas that were half painted.

Pros: lovely deck with ocean views (peering over roofs of neighbors houses). Management readily available when the garbage disposal clogged and the air conditioner broke although she initially asserted there was no air conditioner when there was.

My overall impression is that the owner put this home on a vacation rental site as an afterthought as they wait for it to sell. Will definitely not be back to this property.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

Great location, close to many different attractions. Visited the redwoods and numerous beaches. 5 minute walk to the beach is more like 15. House was nice. Slept 12 comfortably. Everything worked fine. Had a great time. Thanks
