My husband and I have enjoyed this private lake for many years as our children grew. The kids loved jumping off the dock and learning how to kayak and fish. There's always something to do and we never hear those dreadful words "I'm bored" We love the tranquility and can leave the stress behind.
Owner purchased this House in 2009
Why Owner chose Deep River
We chose to buy this home on its own lake because we always loved it here. Once you visit, we know you will come back again and again!
What makes this House unique

Great home. Incredibly accommodating hosts!
Great home. Incredibly accommodating hosts! Stayed for a nearby wedding for the weekend. Beautiful view of lake with easy access.
Great week at lake hideaway
Six members of our family spent a week here, including my 91 year old mother. The house is spacious and the setting is beautiful. On arrival, the house was clean and tidy. Tom told us they had just sprayed for bugs, and while this left a strong odor, it dissipated after the first day. Everyone agreed the beds were very comfortable. There was virtually no activity on the lake the entire time of our visit, making this a very private hideaway. Access to the lake was pretty easy, even for my mother. The lake bottom is somewhat mucky, and generally covered with lake-weed (Tom’s term) except for a narrow strip just where you enter the water. The floating dock was a great feature! The kitchen was well supplied with small appliances, pots, glasses, tableware, etc. We suggest Kathy and Tom inventory the kitchen and remove any non-working appliances and generally reduce the kitchen contents to allow more space for food storage. The view from the deck was terrific, and it was a great place for sun bathing, grilling, and eating. The deck could use some maintenance as certain boards were loose or uneven, and the railing down to beach was somewhat loose. Also some of the outside chairs and tables were showing signs of age. But there were lots of chairs choose from! And if you like fishing, there were rods and tackle available. Finally, the location of the lake house is convenient to many attractions, and we highly recommend the steam train/cruise on Connecticut River. Overall, a lovely time was had by all.
Great spot, great hosts!
Five old friends stayed in the house while we attended our 25th college reunion. The house was absolutely perfect for our needs. The common area allowed us to gather and talk and talk and talk. We swam in the lake, ran the nearby trails, and marveled at the view. Tom and Kathy are great hosts. I wish we had more time there. I was not ready to leave.
This is such a beautiful property! The view is just unbelievable. Waking up in the morning and having a cup of tea on the porch was such a great way for me to start my wedding day! The house itself is very cute with a Brady Bunch vibe. Very kitch and original 1960s. We loved it! My bed was very comfortable and we found everything we needed in the kitchen. Before the visit Kathy was great at communicating with me though unfortunately had to leave town before our arrival. We were left in the capable hands of Lisa and she showed us around the property and explained how everything worked before leaving us to the peace and quiet of this lovely home. I would definitely come back here if I needed another weekend away with a large group. Thanks for everything!
The only thing that would have made it better
When I finally showed up at the rental house after passing the driveway the first time my first thought was this road is not a good sign but then I saw the house. The pictures don't do any justice, beautiful large windows and amazing deck with an even better view of the lake . The only thing we heard while at this secluded house was the birds, and the fish hitting the water. I am defiantly planning on coming to this house again and I would tell anyone to try this place for relaxation fishing sunbathing swimming .
The only thing that I wish was that the small mossy area on the side of the house was a little bigger for some yard games of any kind
