About Mark Skolnick
My wife Stacy and I purchased this new cabin and completely upgraded the home one room and one floor at a time. We've tried to combine the mountain ambiance with some of the modern necessities we all look for in a vacation home. Appalachian Dream is our family's stress relief and provides an escape from the Florida heat. We wanted to show our 2 young children that there really are 4 seasons and each is as beautiful as the next. Appalachian Dream always brings our family and friends closer together. There are so many memories to be shared and I'm glad I have the opportunity to share my home with you and your family. Please feel free to call me anytime with questions at 954-806-4600 (Mark)

Great cabin with a great setup for multiple families or families with older children
Very clean cabin, furniture in great condition. Close to amenities. Close to Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, towns of Banner Elk and Boone, NC. We came up with our grown kids hoping for them to be able to ski, however, the weather did not cooperate (very little snow) at Sugar Mountain. However, there was a blizzard at Snowshoe Mountain in WV (5 1/2 hrs away!) and our grown kids/friends decided they would leave at 4:30 a.m. the next day and drive up for a day of skiing which they enjoyed very much. My husband and I stayed behind and had a relaxing day watching movies. The cabin is set up great where everyone can have their own SPACE. My son and his friends stayed downstairs while my daughter/boyfriend stayed upstairs. We took the bedroom on the main level and everyone had their own bathroom! (A mother's dream!) Plenty of room to all eat together and gather in the living room or downstairs in the game room. The hot tub was enjoyed by all. LOVED that it is pet friendly!! Mark was great to work with!
Appalachian Dream Vacation
We absolutely loved the "Appalachian Dream" cabin. Nestled in a subdivision in the mountains, it offered great vistas of Grandfather Mountain. We enjoyed our coffee each morning on the back deck, and then took morning walks to the nearby bridge and waterfall. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and offered such activities as playing pool, ping-pong, lounging in the hot-tub, reading by the fireplace, watching TV on several large-screen TVs, and just enjoying mother nature. It is conveniently located to Grandfather Vineyard & Winery, Sugar Mountain ski area, several restaurants, grocery store, and other retail businesses. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Oh, and Mark (the owner) was wonderful to deal with. He was easily accessible and very courteous. I highly recommend this property for your vacation in the mountains!
A great family weekend
We loved the log cabin and found it a great setting for kids with plenty of game opportunities and with separate living areas for everyone to spread out. The house was well stocked with everything we needed.
Guests should be aware that it is in a developed area with neighbors all around and hiking near the house is on public neighborhood roads, so dogs must be leashed.
We even had snow like that in the picture!
Fall Break Stay
We had a four night stay and had a great time at the cabin. The cabin was in good shape and had all of the extras that you need to make it feel like home. In particular, the kitchen had all of the utensils and cooking tools you could ever need. The owner Mark was great to work with and was very responsive. The only negative to the floor plan was that all of the bathrooms were in the bedrooms which can be awkward if you have anyone coming by for a visit. All in all, I would rent this cabin again.
Just as advertised! Would highly recommend.
Three floors each with separate common area, bath and bedroom. Kitchen fully stocked and lots of blankets. Gas grill with extra tank--just in case. Owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable! Quiet location. Small waterfall within walking distance. New restaurant called Eat Crow right around the corner that has authentic English food. Food Lion grocery close by. Great location. Excellent home.
Loved the house and location
Even though the reason for our trip was to get away from Hurricane Irma, we loved our stay. The house was fabulous and had everything one could need. We had a family of six, more than enough room for everyone to have their personal space. The kids had a great time playing ping pong and pool. And let's not forget the jacuzzi ❤️
It is a nice location close to all the attractions and towns to visit. The owners are very personable and accommodating. We will definitely come back and would recommend to anyone.
Thank you Mark and family.
