Great for couples, Garden Court is a first-floor duplex tucked away on a private lane off the Beech Hill Road in Historic Somesville. Our quiet rural setting offers the perfect spot to come home to between adventures. Garden Court's entrance is located witthin our fenced-in courtyard at 5A. Beech Mountain, located within Acadia National Park, is just 1 1/2 miles from your front door. The three best swimming/kayaking/canoeing lakes are right around the corner by car or bicycle. Farm-to-table freshness is just 1/3 mile from the home at Beech Hill Farm, an organic farm stand. Enjoy an autumn sunset stroll along Beech Hill Road; drive 15 minutes into Bar Harbor with all that seaside town has to offer, or head the other way and discover 'The Quiet Side' of Mount Desert Island. Garden Court is perfectly situated to access all the wonders of our beautiful island and Acadia National Park. An evening of child care may be available upon request; all situations considered.

$50 MULTI-WEEK DISCOUNT There is so much to see and do! Our home comfortably accommodates up to 6 people and is tastefully appointed and fully equipped. Garden Court is pet friendly, so bring the whole family for a week (or two) to remember.

About Vanessa

My husband, John, and I have lived on Mt Desert Island for nearly 40 years. I landed my dream job seven years ago as head gardener at Thuya Garden, a beautiful English border garden in Northeast Harbor. John is a building contractor and has built many beautiful shingle style homes on the island. We love to travel in our Scamp Camper that we've nicknamed 'Shrimp Scampi'.

Why Vanessa chose Mount Desert Island

We fell in love with this beautiful property and incredible location in 1989. John built Garden Court for my mother when she retired to Maine. We now rent the ground floor of her home and we live upstairs. Garden Court sits on one acre of land along a private driveway in a quiet neighborhood. Check out the beautiful sunsets from Beech Hill or hike Acadia National Park trails just one mile away.

The "C" family came and conquered MDI for the 4th straight year at Garden Court. I once again thank you.... for allowing us to stay here for our summer vacation. Between getting up to see the sunrise and jigging for squid till 1 am - I think I need a vacation now! Sorry we missed you at the Gardens - we just didn't make it over there this year. John - I owe you some squid next year - my family wolfed them all down. Bruce - good luck getting the mini-bike going. Jonah wants to ride it. We truly feel this is our home away from home and look forward to coming back."

Garden Court had everything it said it its description. It was cozy inside and was in close proximity to points of interest. However, the outside was not spectacular- the courtyard was all rocks (not comfortable for kids or dog). There was no yard. And the home had a slight musty smell.

Overall, however, it was comfortbale and the owners and manager (daughter-n-law) were quick to help out and replace items missing/run out. I would have no problem staying there again under the right circumstances.

couldn't have asked for more!

Where do I start? Reserving Garden Court was so easy, quick reply and it all went smoothly. Directions to the house were spot-on. Garden Court is cute, clean, well furnished and the bed was so comfortable. It is not on the main thoroughfare so we had to drive to get to Bar Harbor, but that's the way we like it and it isn't a long drive at all. Convenient to Southwest Harbor. Very cozy on the day we got rained in. Really a great place to spend time and use as a base to explore Acadia.

Garden Court

We spent 3 nights at "Garden Court" with friends while exploring Acadia. Everything was exactly as described on the web site. Our accommodations where available upon our arrival and spotlessly clean. The owners had supplied us with maps to the area as well as recommendations for grocery shopping and dining out. The accommodations are spacious and fully furnished (stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, pots, pans,eating & cooking utensils,salt, pepper, coffee maker, blender and a toaster are included i.e. a full kitchen), 3 bedrooms, an outside patio w/gas grill cable tv and wifi.

The location was central to Somesville/Mt Desert/Southwest Harbor area and just a 10 minute drive to Bar Harbor.

This was a perfect stay for us (weather excluded) and we would recommend "Garden Court" to anyone looking for a great stay in the Acadia area.

Clean, inviting and had everything you could need!

Garden court was perfect for our trip! It was so nice to have a comfortable and homie place to come back to after exploring the island, hiking and climbing mountains. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook homemade dinners and pack lunches and snacks for the day. I would definitely print directions out before you leave home because my gps lost signal about 5 minutes from the house and I couldn't find it. I found my way back to a gas station I had passed and called Priscilla from there. She had her son come meet me and I followed him back (it was really easy to find once I knew where I was going), very kind and thoughtful. They also had a ton of maps and printouts of hiking trails around the island. They really thought of everything! Would definitely stay here again!

Comfy New England Getaway

Our four night stay was as comfortable as a stay in a second home. Everything we needed was in the home. While there were only two of us, there was plenty of space and separation between the bedrooms/bathrooms and the living area and kitchen. We took advantage of the great weather and the BBQ grill on some nights. The island is filled with adventures. So sad that we could only scratch the surface of things to do.

Garden Court is 1 mile from a boat launch and small swimming beach at Long Pond called 'Pond's End' by us locals. Guest privileges to fish for mackerel or launch kayak/canoe from Somesville town dock. All other information will be available to our guests when they arrive at Garden Court. For babysitting possibilities, contact Vanessa within a month of your visit. CPR certified and ECE degree.
