Welcome to our charming historic home. Built in 1893, this Victorian style home is located in a Renaissance District in the heart of Galveston, two blocks behind St. Patrick’s Church. The house is a survivor of the Great Storm of 1900.
Most of the antiques, art, and furnishings have been purchased in Galveston.

We have lived in the Houston area all of our lives and always loved spending time in Galveston, going to the Mardis Gras, Saturday evening 'Art Walks, 4th of July fireworks, Dickens on the Strand, fishing and just hanging out enjoying the beaches and wonderful places Galveston has to offer.
Sylvia Guzman purchased this house in 2008
Over the years, our love for Galveston has continued to grow and after a long search we found our house. It's located in the center of the city, only a 5 minute drive to the historic Strand and Seawall and beaches. There are so many things to do. Pure enjoyment for all ages - Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn, Saturday evening 'Art Walk,' clean beaches, fun fishing, water sports, ghost tours, restaurants, coffee shops, antiquing and great resale shops. It's about a 30 minute drive to NASA and the Kemah Boardwalk.
When you enter the house, you will feel right at home with its lovely, comfortable furnishings. There are transom windows over the 1st floor doorways, original hardwood floors and antiques throughout the house. The 1st floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms, each with its' own private bathroom one of the bathrooms has a clawfoot tub. All bedrooms have queen size beds. All bedding and bath linens are provided.
We rented the Hidden Gem the weekend our daughter was married in Galveston. The house is amazing and filled with beautiful antiques. With four bedrooms, we had plenty of room for our family and the bridesmaids. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels, kitchen supplies, etc. Great place to chill after the wedding! The owners have thought of everything, and Sylvia was wonderful to work with. Highly recommend the Hidden Gem.
Stayed at the house for my wedding along with the rest of my groomsmen and their families. Turned out to be an excellent stay and location. We even rented the 1bdr Carriage House located on the grounds of the house. Fantastic place, would stay again.
I had THE BEST weekend stay ever in Galveston. Hands down this beats hotel living. I celebrated my birthday with family there and they could not stop talking about it. It's in a central location that is near or just a few minutes near everything on the island. I did NOT want to go home. Very cozy!! And the beds felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. Truly a hidden gem! And definitely a home away from home. Thank you Sylvia and Fred!!
We stayed in the house this past Mardi Gras (2012) and Mardi Gras 2011. The house and the owners are wonderful. Staying in the Hidden Gem is like taking a step back in time!
The house is beautiful and the attention to detail adds to its historic wonder.
We hope to spend many more Mardi Gras nights in the years to come.
Thank you Sylvia and Fred.
This house is even better in person than in the pictures. Beautiful furnishings in every room! Excellent location, minutes from everything. The owners are always just a phone call away if you need anything! They made our girls' getaway for a friend's bachelorette weekend an unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone!
This was the second year that we have rented this lovely home. Sylvia and Fred have done a fantastic job of making a "second home" for our family and friends. They are extremely gracious and the house is very comfortable.
We look forward to returning next year because we all feel this house is where we belong.
It's always time to be in Galveston to have lunch or dinner by the water, or spend a cool day shopping in The Strand. The house is centrally located, so it is only a short drive to shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, the historic Seawall, Moody Gardens and the West and East Beaches. PLEASURE PIER IS NOW OPEN!
