Cozy ski getaway with easy slope access close to hiking and biking trails

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

This charming Government Camp Cabin features a nostalgic environment that will bring you back to the skiing heyday of the 70s!

The main level of the cabin has a fully stocked kitchen with a separate dining space that has wallpaper featuring some great ski themed photos from yesteryear. Both full bathrooms are featured on the main level, and the living room is a cozy space that is perfect for telling stories from the day on the slopes. There is a love seat and a sofa so there's plenty of space for everyone to gather together and sit around the propane stove that creates a classic cabin ambiance. This is a great spot to watch the snow fall! For those of you who prefer the modern amenities, there is a flatscreen cable TV with a DVD player that is perfect for watching your favorite films.

The cozy 1,000 sq. ft. cabin features three unique and creative bedrooms. The master bedroom is a large bedroom with a queen bed, lots of lighting and space for you to unpack your ski gear. The second bedroom has a classic ski cabin look and features a full bed and old-school skiis on the walls. The third bedroom has two twin beds and is perfect for the kids with room to play beneath the chalet-style decorations. All three bedrooms are on the second floor of the home.

Outside there's a private deck that's perfect for summer relaxing.

The home is located in the heart of Government Camp so it is convenient to all of the local hot spots and the great skiing available at SkiBowl, Timberline and Meadows! The Sandy River is nearby and offers all you can imagine for swimming, fishing and general hanging out, plus the adorable town of Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge is just 45 minutes' drive. No matter what your heart desires, the Wilcox Cabin is the perfect place to call your second home!

Note: The stairs are steep and the bedrooms are upstairs, bathrooms are on the main Level.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you for a wonderful weekend at your cozy cabin. We enjoyed snowboarding at Ski Bowl Friday night and Mount Hood Meadows Saturday morning. But then it rained!! So we came home to soak in the hot tub and drink whiskey by the fire. (Owner note: there isn't really a is a propane stove...) What fun 60s/70s furnishings and a great location! Cheers.

Owner note: Unfortunately can't reproduce the guest's art work...sunshine...a couple happy smiley people and a turtle....

Cabin Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Very easy to find, walk to almost everything. I am sure if you enjoy winter activities it will be even more fun. Price was reasonable, older person's or anyone with a disability may have some trouble, stairs are steep entering house, and all bedrooms are up a very narrow and steep staircase, use caution there also if little children are present.

Cute and Cozy!

  • 4 of 5

This darling cabin gets an A+ in the charm department. The furnishings and decor are very "ski-cabin" and do so much to give this cabin a charming feel. Some of the blankets and pillows are a bit shabby and could use replacing. If the hot tub was functional, this place would've gotten a home-run! The hot tub was not included in the actual description, but was mentioned in the reviews. We were not necessarily expecting a hot tub, but were hopeful. It would've been so nice to unwind with a soak after a day teaching our little boys to ski!

Spring break getaway

Quaint little cabin located super close to all the happenings in government camp. A short jaunt to the general store and night life along with just a 3 mile hIke to timberline.

Stayed at the Wilcox cabin and had the most amazing time. It's great for 4 to 5 people, is in a great location to the ski resort's, and the HOT TUB!!! Couldn't have asked for a better ski trip/ cabin stay. Thank you for your hospitality, we will likely be back next year

Extremely disappointing for what it cost. The house was not clean.

  • 1 of 5

The house was not clean despite a large cleaning fee. We found blood droplets on the sheets that were not stains! There was food stuck to the countertops and in the sink, many of the dishes were dirty, and the bathroom sinks were not clean. Also, there were personal items left in the bathroom. It looks like someone had just left. We tried to contact the management personnel from the email provided and got no answer at all. Additionally, the upkeep of the home was poor. The shower head in the bathroom had zero water pressure, many of the light bulbs were out with no extras on hand, the light above the stove didn't work (lighting was important because there weren't many fixtures in the house so it was really dark), and the stove had no flat burners. There were two sets of directions left at the house providing conflicting info and neither set was correct about where things were supposed to be stored. Although the email provided stated the parking was provided for two cars the space was not plowed for more than one and we weren't told until we arrived that a permit was required for street parking in front of the property. Bottomline the only redeeming quality about this place is location, but not worth the price.
