About the property

2 Bedroom apartment, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4, possibly 5)

This attractive mountain view loft is situated at the edge of the picturesque lakeside village of Strobl, with mountain views from all 4 sides of the apartment. It is only a 5-10 minute walk to the village centre and waterfront, with a bakery, supermarket, post office, bank, restaurants and tourist office. A public path runs by the property, that is enjoyed for cycling, jogging, horseback riding and walking, and meanders through a beautiful nature protection area. The beach with a dock and raft, is a 2 minute walk from the door.

Every season offers a different appeal:

The summer days can be spent lazing at the lake, hiking in the mountains, or enjoying visits to cultural and historic places and attractions.

In spring, experience traditional Easter celebrations and customs at various local events.

In winter, the Wolfgangsee Advent and Christmas Market runs from Nov 18-Dec 31, Thursday to Sunday. The local customs and cultural fare are beautifully displayed with a floating Peace Lantern glowing over the lake. For the outdoor enthusiast in the winter months, there are a number of excellent downhill ski areas close by, and cross-country skiing trails which are accessible from the edge of the property, and also up at the Postalm nearby.

There are always museums and galleries to explore, and music events and tours to enjoy throughout the year.

The Salzkammergut area of Austria is well-known for the beauty of its landscape in the lake district at the edge of the Alps, for the fascination and interest of its history, and for the intrigue of its unique culture. There is plenty to see and do, to appeal to all interests, whether it be outdoors enjoying nature, participating in high energy activities like hiking, cycling and skiing, or sightseeing and experiencing the many museums, concerts and cultural events.

Strobl is one of three quaint & historic villages on the shores of Lake Wolfgang, which are linked by road and ferry service. There is good public transportation by bus and train for guests without a car. It is a half hour scenic drive to Salzburg, the famous city of Mozart, with its historic castle and Mirabell Palace, and the home of the 'Sound of Music'.

This spacious 900 square foot 2 bedroom apartment is a welcoming and cozy place to stay while you explore the beauty of the Salzkammergut.

For larger groups or families that need additional space, you may also like to rent our one-bedroom ground floor apartment in the same house which sleeps 2 guests.

It can be viewed at VRBO Listing #453038.

This is a desirable and popular vacation area year round.

About Juliet Lev

The owners, Fritz & Juliet Lev, now live in Canada, although Fritz grew up living in this family home, which originally was a guest house run by his parents. It was their own family vacation apartment until they recently built themselves a retirement home next door. This has enabled them to give others the opportunity to stay in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe and gives them the pleasure of sharing this wonderful area with their guests.

Juliet Lev purchased this apartment in 1985

Why Juliet Lev chose Salzburg

This was my childhood home, and it was only as I traveled around the world that I became aware of how fortunate I was to grow up in such a beautiful part of the world.

What makes this apartment unique

A family member with some knowledge of English, lives on the adjoining property. Any inquiries, recommendations or assistance can be accessed easily through them.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Strobl lies a little west of the center of the Salzkammergut region; this is perfect because it is conveniently close both to Salzburg and the towns and villages of Salzkammergut itself. The area is very

beautiful - so much so that the emperor and his retinue spent their summers in nearby Bad Ischl every year. It seems a bit odd, then, that this region is not more famous outside Austria and Germany. It makes for a vacation a little different from the usual fare. There are many sights and tourist destinations within a short drive, and it is also practical to take the bus and save yourself the bother of parking. Or cycle instead - in Austria, cycling is not just for athletes! There are marked cycling routes over quiet back roads for which you can buy maps. Strobl itself is a charming village with the necessary amenities within a short walk of the apartment. You can take several day hikes from Strobl without ever using your car. Overall, highly recommended!"

We could not have found a better place

  • 5 of 5

Quaint and roomy..sooo comfortable and clean...wish we could come every year. The location is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors. Love that we could arrive anytime because she had a lock box. So professional. She had a book with summaries of everything..we took her suggestions for eating places and we're not disappointed.

Strobl is breathtaking. The apartment is perfect for two couples or a family. Close to the lake and town. Very quiet. Ferry to St. Wolfgang and train up the Schafberg was fantastic!

Lovely Strobl loft

  • 5 of 5

The loft is loaded with all the amenities of home and quaint Bavarian decor in a beautiful neighborhood setting. We will definitely return here! It was a perfect stopover on our way from Munich to Bled. I highly recommend a stay at the Mountain View Loft.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

This is our 3rd time of staying here at the Mountain View Loft. We brought 2 of our family members this time and they really liked it also. It is very comfortable, clean place with lots of great views out all the windows. It is always well furnished with all your cooking needs. It is an added plus having a washer available. Juliet has always been very easy and professional to work with. We hope to be back again as we love the area and the town of Strobl. Thanks Juliet

Fantastic apartment, amazing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Mountain View Loft for a week in August of this year with our two young children and had a truly wonderful vacation. The apartment itself had more than enough space for the four of us, was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything we would need for our vacation. Having laundry in the apartment was a definite bonus! (As was the lego that our daughters loved playing with!). The setting is gorgeous in a cute little town on Lake Wolfgang and surrounded by the mountains with many activities for all ages a short distance away. There is so much to do in the area for those who wish, but also many opportunities to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings that this part of Austria has to offer. Taking the ferry around Lake Wolfgang and the train up the Schafberg was a highlight for us, as was Strobl's summer festival and our daily morning walk to the town bakery. The binder inside the apartment has a listing of a number of the activities in the area - we tried many of them and were not disappointed. We had everything we needed in the apartment and in the area to make this a wonderful family vacation. We have already recommended this apartment to our friends and family, and look forward to returning ourselves one day!

Wonderful experience, great location, huge apartment

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in early June here, and enjoyed it greatly. True to its name, the loft has a mountain view from every room. It is very spacious, clean, and super quiet. Furnished in a nice, homey manner, with everything we needed. We found the mattresses and pillows very comfortable. The kitchen is fully furnished (as described in the listing), and the nearby dining table is nicely situated with a view to the mountains. Both wired and wireless internet connections were available, and they both worked very well except for one mysterious outage, which was corrected by resetting the modem/connectors. It really is just a short walk to the beach (there is a small fee to enter, however, except during off hours) or into town. Strobl is a very nice, small town. Big enough to have several restaurants and markets, but small enough that it is quaint and quiet.

Juliet was extremely responsive via email; always helpful, pleasant, and prompt. The entire experience really couldn’t have been better (other than the weather, which was pretty poor, but nothing anyone can do about that).
