About Michelle McErlean Nunez
Michelle, Fabian and Jesse all reside in Los Angeles. Michelle originally hails from London, England; Fabian is US born and of Mexican descent; and Jesse is Mexican. Jesse is a documentary maker and designer who travels the world and has a deep appreciation of nature. He was set to purchase land in the Amazonian rainforest to enjoy, preserve and protect... that is, until he discovered an unspoiled paradise in his very own homeland. He introduced his friends, couple Michelle and Fabian, to Tulum and they instantly fell for its magic, particularly the beauty of the remarkable and awe-inspiring Sian Ka'an nature reserve. It is a dream come to true to have our very own two acres of eco-villa, virgin beach on the Caribbean, amid tropical jungle that borders a blue lagoon. We feel privileged to share our very own slice of paradise in the 1% of the reserve that is privately owned; a place we regard to be one of the most beautiful, unspoiled places on earth! We are nature lovers but being city folk, we also appreciate the wide variety of activities available (should we be inclined to do anything here other than watch the palms trees sway, listen to the waves and enjoy Chari's wonderful cooking) and the proximity Tulum's relaxed bohemian beach zone with its chic restaurants, boutiques and cafes just a 10-15 drive away, which attracts a thoughtful traveler. Now you can share in this amazing experience in Tulum and specifically Sian Ka’an, Mayan for "where the sky is born".

Why Michelle McErlean Nunez chose Tulum Municipality
It's paradise. Need we say more?
What makes this Villa unique
The beach is private and secluded. Clothing is optional. Just a short distance from the house is a Mayan lighthouse. This lighthouse was used for night fishing hundreds of years ago to exactly pinpoint the location of a cenote in the lagoon where bountiful fish awaited. The Mayans would light a small fire in the lighthouse and when lined up directly in the line of sight of the fire, they would be directly over the cenote. Our live-in staff, Filipe and Chari, are there to cater to your every need! If pre-arranged, they will await your arrival with a welcome meal. Our staff live in separate quarters on the property (affording you privacy) and provide 24 hour security.

Fantastic vacation with family
My husband and I invited our three sons and one daugther-in-law to spend a week of family time here in Tulum. We absolutely loved the villa. We opened the door and were impressed with the spaciousness and openness of the living area, dining, and kitchen. Perfect for a big group. The indooor furniture was comfy. Our family loves to be outdoors so we loved the covered deck. It had a dining table, another table, and a variety of seating options including Adirondeck chairs, sofas, and chaisses. There are some special lighting options indoors and out. There was no need for air conditioning except for the downstairs room. The fans and wind made for comfortable tropical temps.
The bedrooms were equipped with lots of closet /storage space, excellent lines and mattresses, and views, The view from our shower was incredible---a palm tree and ocean or looking the other way, a deserted beach. Shampoo and soap provided. Each bedroom was private and if one family member got up early, the others didn't hear a sound. The road is close to the house. At night, i estimate two or three vehicles passed by between ten and six. Birds will start chirping at six am prividng a natural alarm clock.
Beach: gorgeous. The water is warm, sometimes with waves, sometimes calm. Most days, we could look up and down without seeing another person. We never needed the beach towels provided by the villa. The staff rakes the seaweed off the beach. If you walk either north or south, you will see lots of weed and plastic garbage. When the wind died down, we snorkeled off the beach and saw turtles, rays, fish.
Highly recommend having Chari and Felipe cook for you. Their meals are better than what you would get at a restaurant. We enjoyed their dinnners every night. On their night off, we went into the hotel zone and had a mediocre dinner.
We rented a car, mainly because there were six of us, we had luggage, and we went into town several times a week for scuba diving. I would have been happy staying at the villa without leaving the entire week.
Bottom line, we would not hesitate to rent this villa again.
Luxury in paradise
This beautiful home and setting more than met our expectations. The home was spacious and comfortable with many amenities. We had meals prepared by the caretakers on three of our nights there and all were delicious. The guacamole with every meal was a favorite. But the outdoor space is truly breathtaking. We felt like we had a private beach that went on for miles and spent many hours both on the veranda and on the beach. We hope to return!
Stunning house, stunning location!
This was the perfect place to celebrate my wife's 40th with our closest friends. It's a stunning property. Standing on the roof viewing porch, we could catch both sunrises and sunsets over water. Each of the three masters is excellent, and the fourth bedroom with the single beds has a lot of space.
This stretch of beach is very private, only a few houses every coupe hundred yards or so. The house also has sea kayaks, boogie boards, etc that makes ocean time super fun.
On the homefront, the in-house chef is the best chef of Mexican cuisine any of us had encountered. All around a great choice for a group or family.
Casa Pelicanos was exactly what we were looking for in a villa in Sian Ka'an. Close enough for us to do what we wanted in Tulum, but far enough to be able to enjoy and relax on a beautiful, quiet beach. The staff was attentive and provided for all our needs. We would certainly recommend Casa Pelicanos.
And 1 yr Later
Again gets better and better. The new Beach Shade is awesome!! The size of it creates so much shade for so many people it is amazing! It allows just enough sun in to keep that tan just right!!
The food this year was better than last!! Chari and Felipe out did themselves again!!
It just can't be any easier to stay here!! If you don't want to do anything you don't have to. If you want to go up to the beach road and bar/restaurant hop you can and it is so easy to do if you have a car.
The new Cheruadi grocery store is so nice. They have everything!
Read my past reviews for more info, but again, this place is where it is at if you want to rest and enjoy a great beach and have all that you would at home.
Alan and Valorie are so easy to work with and want to make sure you have the best vacation possible!
We are so happy to hear you had a great time yet again. If you choose to return again, we have a couple of exciting new projects we are undertaking! We are building custom outdoor seating area on our main terrace and also building a palapa shade structure over our beachfront deck so that our guests can enjoy even more outdoor living on the shores of the Caribbean.
Casa de los Pelicanos!!!! This home just keeps getting better and better. The owners are great people and go out of their way to make sure you have everything there to make your vacation perfect. Chari and Felipe are awesome people who take care of the place I think better than if it was their own. The food they cook is amazing. So much better than last year and I didn't think that could happen. They keep the floors so clean we never had any issue with sand anywhere in the house and as much as you come in and out I don't know how they do it. The ammenities of this home just makes everything while you are there so easy and stress free. The road to the home was grated and smoothed while we were there. It took 7 mins to get from the Arch on the beach road to Pelicanos. Got to see and hold some turtles this year, that was great. The beach canopy is great in size and can fit lots of people under it. New beach lounge chairs are so nice for taking a nap in. Got a rental car thru Easyway and it was a great experience. Very cheap and they drove us to Tulum for $30 and then back to Airport from Tulum for $30. We thought what a deal so we wouldn't have to worry about driving on the highway and they go faster than the speed limit unlike what I would have to drive, so we got to Tulum super fast to get on the beach sooner. Fun times up and down the Tulum Beach Hotel Zone. El Pariaso, Ziggy's, La Zebra, OM and more. Great Food, Cold Beers, Great new Friends! Met a lot of people from tulum.info. Had a dinner party. The new downstairs bunk room is really nice. Kids would love this room, they could play and be kids during the day or night. New added day bed in the downstairs bedroom, gives you one more spot for a companion. Recently added alarm system that you can activate and deactive in all the rooms in the house informs you of activity around the property with voice notifications---awesome addition! There is a new added outdoor shower for rinsing off after swimming in the ocean. It has full body shower head as well as just a foot wash. Casa de los Pelicanos is the perfect spot for an awesome vacation. Away from it all for privacy, but close enough to have the beach bars/clubs and night life. The option to have homemade authentic Mexican cuisine is a money saving option to eating out on the beach road. Go you will love it, single or with others.
Perfectly situated only 6km into the Sian Ka'an bio-sphere reserve - far away enough to feel like a secluded tropical paradise escape, yet close enough to Tulum's relaxed bohemian chic beach zone where boutiques, cafes, Riviera Maya's best restaurants, and cold-press juices, banks, ATMs, grocery stores are only a 10-15 drive away. This private community is accessible via the arch at the top of Tulum's beach strip The inland town of Tulum Pueblo itself is only a 20 minute drive. Cancun Airport is a 120 minute drive.
