Romantic Hill Country Hideaway Nestled in the Heart of Texas

Bedrooms 1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

A Hill Country retreat, perfect for a couple who want a secluded spot. Located on a bluff with a gorgeous view of the Texas Hills, it is a slice of heaven. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises, often when the fog rolls in creates a mystical feel. The cabin is very modern, build in 2004, with vaulted ceilings, french doors that open onto big covered deck with ceiling fans, rocking chairs and a private view of the hills, looks like the Ozarks.

The bedroom has a comfy queen bed with down comforter, designer linens, TV/DVD in living and bedroom, all the modern conveniences of home. There is a stone patio, the "Grotto" under the oak trees to watch deer, birdwatch, star gaze or have a peaceful moment with a good book.

The lake is a short 5 minute walk down the hill, has a limestone bottom, is turquoise blue and crystal clear. A perfect swimming hole. There is a floating dock with a boat ramp and the Cranes Mill marina rents ski boats and jet skiis, be sure and kayak over to party cove!

The world famous Guadalupe River is 10 minutes away and has the best rafting and tubing in the state. The Comal, 15 minutes in New Braunfels, is known for tubing and the river that likes to party.

The hills are a killer workout, and challenging for the avid cycler. The best of Texas music is 10-15 minutes away in Gruene, as well as the Canyon Lake Amphitheater

About The Owner

I am a native Texan and have always loved the hill country. But what I like the most is how beautiful the lake is and the Guadalupe too. My love for live music is one reason I bought the cabin, it is just down the street from Gruene Hall. Now with the live music venue at Canyon Lake, there is even more live music to enjoy. With my demanding schedule in the city, the second I drive down the road to my place, I relax. It is such a peaceful, calming retreat.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

Why The Owner chose Canyon Lake

I bought the casita to get out of Houston and to enjoy the outdoors. It was built in 2004 and was brand new when I bought it, the previous owner hardly ever used it. In the winter or summer there is always a lot to do. New Braunfels has several good restaurants, Wimberly is 12 minutes away, but most of all I like the feel of being in the heart of the Texas Hill Country! I built the stone patio at the end of a stone walkway to have a quiet place to meditate or turn on the twinkling lights at night and have dinner or a glass of wine. It is close to San Antonio and an hour from Austin...It is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I know you will enjoy it a much as I have.

What makes this cabin unique

I like relaxing, reading a good book and watching the deer and birds. The walks I take are a good work out, and sometimes I'll walk down to the lake at sunset and sit on the dock or go for a swim.

Wonderful property

  • 5 of 5

The house is well built, well furnished, comfortable and clean. Leslie was a wonderful host, providing us will all kinds of info about places to go and things to do. She was responsive to any questions we had, also. The bed is really comfy and the kitchen has all sorts of cooking supplies. The huge deck is an added bonus and the view is fantastic. It's a perfect hill country get away for 2. Stay here! You'll love it.

What a wonderful and relaxing place!!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures definitely do not do it justice!!! The house feels very secluded and is beautiful and a perfect size for 2-3 people. The deck is comfortable and has a nice view of the rolling hills. The deer would come by every morning and evening looking for corn that we would put out. At one point we had as many as 6 deer with two of them being babies. My 5 yr old loved it!!! There are two kayaks to use for free and a dock for the lake that's about a 5 min drive. Very convenient. Leslie is very helpful and will suggest things to do or places to eat. The location is within a short drive to New Braunfels and Gruene if you are looking for cool shops or restaurants. All in all, we will definitely go back and recommend to our friends!!!

Super clean and super cute!

This house is adorable! Beautifully decorated and in style, and so so clean. The host was wonderful, sending tons of tips about the area and special things about her home. Couldn't be happier, and I'll definitely be back.

Delightful paradise getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with this home. It was charming, functional and very clean. Leslie has it decorated beautifully and it truly feels like a "home" not just a rental.

The patio/deck is a fantastic & private space to enjoy the evening (the deer come right up to the house). The location is about 10 minutes from the horseshoe where we enjoyed floating the river. We hated to leave & can't wait to come back!
