Ocean View and Plenty of Room

  • 4 of 5

Ocean View from the oversize screened deck. Great place to be when the weather isn't perfect. Plenty of seating. Especially enjoyed the rocking chairs. Hammock under the deck doesn't have a view. Would have been wonderful to have had a hammock on a stand on the screened deck. Beach is quiet and clean. Even after a storm, no dead fish or animals to deal with. Did have riptide warnings almost every day, however.

Great getaway for a family reunion

  • 4 of 5

We liked the arrangement of the house. The spacious and integrated living/dining/kitchen area really encourages social interaction. The screened wooden deck that stretches the full length of the house and facing the gulf is a serene place for relaxation and just enjoying the view. Although an older house, it's solidly built, and the few minor maintenance issues, I'm sure the owner will fix when the house gets a breather from it's busy booking schedule. The beach itself is great-- wide with white sands-- although the gulf waters are not as blue or green as farther up west in the Florida Panhandle.

Home was private- but we still had no privacy.

  • 2 of 5

The house was as advertised, a little rough around the edges but very comfortable, and a great location! Unfortunately, our stay was interrupted TWICE by a man who works for the rental company. The first time was 10:30 in the morning during the middle of our vacation to 'walk through the house and see what might be broken'. And then he showed up a FULL HOUR before checkout- cutting our vacation short.

Although I loved the house and location, I would only stay again with a guarantee not to be disturbed.

Owner's Response: The owner received the following response after the guest checked in by email at 4:58PM "Hi Eugene-  Just got the the house and everything looks great. Wanted to let you know there was a broken curtain rod when we arrived. (pics attached). No big deal, just wanted to let you know." Upon this notice, a work order was prepared to corrected the noted problem even though the house had no noted issues with the curtain rod upon departure by the cleaning crew. The maintenance man arrived at 10:30 AM the following morning and repaired the curtain rod. This ensured the privacy of the guest could be maintained as the sliding glass door allows the view of the Gulf and Beach. We strive to ensure our guest are safe and enjoy their vacation. The guest did not request immediate action. We decided to address the issue once notified to the dissatisfaction of the guest.

What an amazing porch

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing get away! Sitting on the screened porch enjoying the sea breeze while listening to the surf. The house was comfortable and in a great location. We watched bald eagles on the beach every day. A few things in the house needed a little attention, but nothing that would keep me from booking again. Thank you for sharing your great get away beach home.

MEH...

  • 2 of 5

While the location of the home is definitely in a desirable spot, there were some less than desirable things going on inside the home. When we arrived there were beach chairs & accessories laying in a pile in the driveway. Upon entering the home, we immediately noticed one of the bi-folding doors to the laundry room was completely missing. Some of the kitchen cabinet doors were hanging off hinges to the point that I was concerned they might break off when opening them. While there were tons of kitchen items, they were strewn throughout different cabinets which left us searching each cabinet to piece together what we needed - most of which had to be re-washed because it was filthy. I also ended up using my beach towels to shower due to the hair I discovered embedded in the towels that were provided. We only used the master bedroom during our stay & the bed just wasn't comfortable for us - we prefer something a bit softer.

However, I would like to mention that patio was where we spent most of our time, reading, eating & relaxing - which we LOVED. We enjoyed the sounds of the ocean but there really wasn't much of a view since it's across the street from the beach & the trees seem to invade the space between the patio & the beach.

OH! The time zone here is EST NOT CST - our phones tricked us so beware!

I believe this property could be REALLY spectacular with some love & care but unfortunately, we won't be visiting again.

Owner's Response: '''We strive to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for our guest. The work order for the broken laundry door and tightening of the cabinet door has been completed. All guest are provided with the concierge cleaning number during their stay. We have no report of the guest requesting clean towels or a service call. Efforts to improve the gulf view are underway. There are miles of beautiful sandy white beaches to enjoy a few feet from the home.

Great Location, Short Walk to Beach

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice, affordable, old-Florida beach house in a great location. It is only about a half-mile from Indian Pass Raw Bar - one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and about 100 yards from the beach. However, please note that unless you know one of the neighbors in front of this house and they will let you use their access, you will need to walk down to the end of the street and use the public beach access road to get to the beach. No big deal, but something to keep in mind if you are taking a lot of stuff to the beach or have elderly parents. Internet access is great in the house - cell phone coverage somewhat spotty. The house and furnishings could stand a refresh, but they are clean and tidy. Kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely rent again.
