"My girlfriends and I stayed here last month and were overwhelmed by this property's beauty and the owner's graciousness. He was helpful in any and every way possible, and personally met us at the property to give us the keys and a tour. The home is magnificent, extremely well-appointed and in a great central location in Denver.



I travel all over - domestically and internationally - and can say this is one of the most spectacular homes I've ever stayed in! We are planning a repeat visit for this May! Highly recommend it!"

Just perfect!

This home is even more impressive in person. It was ideal for us as we came in from out of town for our daughter's wedding and needed a place big enough to have family over to visit, and also to have the bridal party together to get ready and for pictures before the ceremony. For as big as it is, it actually feels warm and cozy. The kitchen and outdoor patio were perfect to prepare a meal for our visiting family and the third floor was a great place for people to just hang out and visit. The owner and his assistant Ursula couldn't have been more pleasant to deal with and made sure our stay was perfect. We were discussing after our stay that it wouldn't have been near as wonderful if we had been in separate hotel rooms. Thanks so much John!! Hope we can come up with another occasion and reason to stay!!

Freaking Sweet!!!

This place is marvelous. The photos do not do it justice. We stayed four nights and didn't want to leave. We spent a lot of time here hanging out with a group of friends because why would we go out anywhere when we had this gigantic mansion to relax in! John, the owner, was very communicative leading up to our stay, during and after. There is a house manager, Ursula, who is AWESOME and showed us around the house on our check in day which made us feel welcome & comfortable. We were very happy there the entire time and Ursula and John were easily reachable should we have needed anything (but we didn't).

If you are looking to sleep more than four adults who are not couples or comfortable sharing beds, yes, people will need to sleep on air mattresses or sofas. We put an air mattress in the main floor office, and it worked perfectly for our group. There is only one half bathroom on the main level (just toilet and sink). The second floor is entirely bedrooms; the master plus two other bedrooms and there are two full bathrooms on this floor, one being the master. There is no door on the master bathroom like another reviewer said - that could be awkward if it needs to be shared by adults who are not in a relationship, but it's workable - there's plenty of house for people to go to while someone is using the master to shower or get ready. There is a door on the water closet (where the toilet is). Hell, like ten adults could comfortably sleep in that master bedroom - it's huge. The top floor great room is amazing!! It's perfect for large groups of people, meetings, presentations or parties. The fourth bedroom is up there and has a full bath, but again that bathroom is open to the bedroom so if it's planned on being a shared bathroom, just be aware. The entire outdoor area is gorgeous, and we enjoyed it very much.

This is an impressive home in a really great location in Denver. Close to lots of restaurants and grocery stores. I would stay here every single time I come to town if I could afford it. I LOVE this house. I will stay here again.

Perfect house, Great Location, Helpful Host

John was an excellent host. He helped us with local attractions and restaurants. The house itself is spectacular, a once-in-a-lifetime place to stay. Fantastic for entertainment, perfectly clean, great location. My favorite part is the kitchen and the outdoor area.

Beautiful home but not worth the price or hassling with the owner

We use VRBO often, and this is the first time I've had a problem with any owner. The home is 12 feet away from a burned out home of similar size and proportion. The burned out home was used by a very large population of homeless people. Given the proximity to this eyesore and safety concerns of the individuals inhabiting the home, it's quite frightful. No one wanted to be alone in the home. We had two gatherings there. One of them was interrupted by a visit from the Denver Police, responding to a complaint from a neighbor about the homeless inhabitants. The beautiful fountain shown in the owner's pictures did not work. No big deal to us. Out of the blue, two men were inside of the fountain. They were not in uniform, and did not identify themselves. After some conversation, and thoughts of calling the police ourselves, my husband went out to ask them what they were doing. They explained that they were fixing the fountain because the owner was coming into town. Guess it had to work when the owner was staying there, but was disregarded for our stay.

We took pristine care of this home, yet were charged for additional cleaning. We had two SERVICE dogs outside of the home for about 30 minutes while their owner delivered some chairs. We were accused of having the dogs in the house. The dogs are very well trained and were never in the home. The owner charged us for cleaning the rugs insisting he smelled "dog" on them. The rugs were dirty to be sure, but it may have been because of the filthy porch that had about a half inch of dirt on them.

When I read the comment about the 25.00 charge from another guest for laundering a set of sheets, I had to laugh. If you are spending the amount of money this guy charges, find a clean and safe spot.

The house is lovely, but there are many, many, issues with the cooling system, the general cleanliness of the place, and extremely rigid rules imposed after the fact. One of the four bedrooms looked like a teenager had just left for college. Holes in the walls, stained and dis -colored carpets and tired furniture.

The third floor is uninhabitable because of poor HVAC. Summer in Denver is hot. Heat rises. So don't plan on using this floor and being up there for any length of time.

I wanted to like this house, and the owner. It was impossible. If this review does not convince you to stay some where else, drive by it and talk to a neighbor or two. Wish we would have.

Owner's Response: This guest toured the home on multiple occasions and saw the home next door prior to the rental and their booking the mansion. Yes, there was a small fire next door and it is vacant. It was vacant on every visit they made prior to their rental. Everything was fine as shown here in an email during their stay: From: Jayne Sent: Mon 6/27/16 10:17 AM To: Hi John. We are having a lovely time at your lovely home. I'll give you more feedback about the home next door and a police visit at a later point. Not on VRBO but just FYI. We love this place and could not more highly recommend it to anyone. The fountain has not worked since we got here. There were some people working on it but at this point is is quite stopped up and making a surging like sound. Again thanks for a lovely spot! I responded and told her that I had sent it on to the maintenance man and they came by again the next day. This guest hosted a rehearsal dinner here and did not pay additional for that event. It was made clear that carpet cleaning and additional cleaning fees would be incurred for an event and additional linens. This was performed in writing and was signed by guest and by email. The guest became extremely angry when the deposit was coming back and "As Agreed" on multiple phone calls and in writing, the carpet cleaning and the credit card fees would be charged to them. They actually wanted me to refund the processing fees and insurance fees they paid to VRBO on top of refunding the credit card fees. I did not charge them for a 3 hour visit to fix the Miele dishwasher that one of their guests put Dawn dishsoap in, or the dog excrement on the property or all of the additional credit card fees. It appears many of the facts were left out and this review is less than honest. I did not charge them fees that were clearly agreed upon to avoid this and they still got abusive and very angry. I now wonder if the police came for their rehearsal dinner or for the neighbors. Nonetheless, this mansion has made many beautiful vacations for guests and the reviews out weigh this.

Incredible home! Fantastic visit!

The home is amazing! There were seven of us visiting and everyone loved it. When you go on vacation you want to stay in a place that is part of the enjoyment of that vacation. This home was among the highlights of our trip, and we had to motivate ourselves to leave it to do sightseeing. We all wanted to just stay their and enjoy the house. We will definitely come back to this house whenever we visit Denver with a group of people.
