Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

The Grand Pavilion is the hub of the resort, featuring a AAA four diamond hotel, The Boardwalk Inn, a restaurant, deli, small upscale store, spa and beauty center, golf and bike rentals. Everything you want to do on the resort is within walking distance from 54 Grand Pavilion.

Our home features a bright and open floor plan, including hardwood floors, spacious master bedroom with sitting area, and ocean views from the Charleston style porches. The porches overlook a 40' x 200' lawn. Beautiful live oaks and native palm trees surround the courtyard. You can relax on the rocking porches and watch the kids play! The Grand Pavilion pools are just steps from the door and the beach is less than 40 yards - just 30 seconds away. Our home is at the end of a cul-de-sac on the quiet side of the Grand Pavilion. The special features of this home, in addition to its location and ambience, are the spacious living/dining area and the master bedroom. The master bedroom provides a quiet place to retreat and relax - to read a great book, watch TV, catch up with the real world on the internet or just sit and enjoy the ocean breezes on the porch.

Our lovely home received major facelift this spring! We upgraded the kitchen, baths, furnishings, art, beds, etc. It has always been a very cheerful and comfortable home - and we are excited about the improvements we have chosen. We think our home feels very elegant, modern, relaxing and most important, comfortable!

In addition to the master, the home features three additional bedrooms, each with an adjoining bath. The bedroom downstairs features hardwood floors, a queen bed, a TV. It is the peach room in the pictures. The front bedroom upstairs (the green room) is the same size, has a queen bed and has a private attached bathroom. The middle bedroom upstairs has twin beds and also has a private bath. Baby's Away in Charleston can provide crib and other baby needs that you may have. They will deliver on Sundays for your arrival.

NOTE: WE RENT SUNDAY-TO-SUNDAY ONLY IN THE SUMMER.

Many of our renters are repeat guests. Here are some comments written in our guestbook recently:

'Your home is so well-decorated, clean, well-organized and fun to live in! The amenities at Wild Dunes are great too - golf, pool, beach (all day - sunrise to sunset and moonrise!) Thanks for offering this paradise for us to enjoy!'

'The location could not have been better - the view from the porches really lent to the tropical feeling. We hope to come again!'

'We loved your home! Thank you so much for such a wonderful home base for our vacation. Our kids loved playing in the courtyard while we rocked on the deck! We look forward to coming back again.'

About The Owner

We are originally from Indiana, and moved to Charlotte, NC in 1982. We have two adult children who were born and raised in Charlotte. We fell in love with the Carolinas on our first visit to the coast. We enjoy sharing this beautiful part of our country - as well as southern hospitality and the relaxed lifestyle it embodies - with our guests!

The Owner purchased this house in 2002

Why The Owner chose Charleston Area

We vacationed at Wild Dunes for over 20 years. This part of SC is very relaxed and welcoming. The people are friendly and considerate. We love the easy access to the Interstates and the many attractions. Charleston is historic and grand, the island feels very tropical and relaxing, and in between is Mt. Pleasant. This eclectic city has much to offer - historic Patriot's Point, golf courses, plantations, fishing boats and restaurants at Shem Creek, as well as the same convenience shopping that you find at home. Your favorite pharmacy, grocery store and general shopping stores are likely to be found within a 10 minute drive from the island. You never need to worry about what you forgot - you can find whatever you need in a very short drive, minimizing time away from the beach.

What makes this house unique

We love to relax on the porches or take a walk on the beach. The beach of course is also a great place to sit and play. It is wonderful to get away from it all to do just nothing - or catch up on reading - or even work on the laptop. Some of us enjoy fishing, crabbing and golf. We especially enjoy dining out in the area. There are so many wonderful restaurants between the IOP, Mt Pleasant, Sullivan's Island and Charleston. Our daughter loves to shop in Charleston (OK - our daughter loves to shop everywhere!) But Charleston is a fun place to shop - there are a variety of local and national shops, as well as the historic Charleston Market. Patriots Point and the boat trip from there to Ft Sumpter is fun and the fort tour is a good history lesson. The first shot of the civil war was fired there. The truth is, we always plan to do more, but we get very comfortable and often find that it's hard to leave this special house by the sea!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have been coming to Wild Dunes for 16 years. We love it so much. Our weather was perfect. This house was such a luxury to stay in! We can't wait to be back.

A Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I began a search for a family vacation near Charleston SC. This home came up early in my search as it met almost all of my criteria. But I continued to search other locations, islands, and keep coming back to this home. My wife and I booked this home for a family vacation near Charleston to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Our 3 sons, daughter-in-laws and 2 grandsons all came to spend the week with us. The home was clean and had an attractive southern charm and best of all was the location in the Wild Dunes Community on the Isle of Palms. Footsteps from the beach, 2 swimming pools, casual restaurants, ice cream shop, formal dining, golf, tennis, and so much more!

I like the HomeAway process and feel secure in my transactions. I have used before and will use again. The owners of this home were attentive to my many questions and always responded in a timely manner.

This is a great property and I would highly recommend it and hope to revisit again myself!

I definitely recommend the beach chair and umbrella set up and take down every day. We rented from the IOP Chair Company and did a great job of having our 8 chairs and 4 umbrellas set up every morning before we got to the beach.

Thank you again Patty and Scott.

Great property, Great owner!

  • 5 of 5

Patty was such a wonderful communicator! She was very responsive and one of the best owners we have worked with to date! We live on Isle of Palms and choose this property specifically for its location. Our house could not accommodate all our friends so we elected to rent Patty's house so we could all stay together. As locals, we know Wild Dunes well. We wanted a property close to the Pavillon pool but far enough away where we would still have privacy. We also knew that it would be a little quieter than homes directly connected to the boardwalk/pool area. Since our friends were bringing their children, we wanted to make sure they would be able to sleep even while the pool and pool bar was open. This is a great location for friends traveling together since the pool and snack bar offers great beach snacks so you do not have to cook every meal and the snack bar also offers a kid friendly menu. However Patty's home also offers a full kitchen if you prefer to cook! Everything you could want and just a few steps from the beach!

A lovely home with a location that can't be beat!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a week in this lovely home. It was exactly as described on the VRBO site. Overall, it was quite clean and everything was in good working order, especially the dual AC units (one for the upstairs and one for the main floor) This was important as it was quite hot the week we were there! The kitchen had more than enough plates, cups, glasses, pots, pans, etc for our needs. Plus, there was a pantry of staples (sugar, salt, pepper, vinegar, oil, etc) probably accumulated over the summer.

The owners were great in their communication with us and answered all of the questions that we had prior to and after renting the house. The information book in the house about the amenities of Wild Dunes, information about local restaurants and sights, and operational instructions for the homes appliances/electronics was very helpful.

But the best feature of the home was it's amazing location. We could see the Atlantic from both porches, and it was literally a 2 minute walk to both the beach and the swimming pool. It was also an easy walk to many of the Grand Pavillion extras (Ice cream shop, snack bar, the general store, the fire pit, bicycle rental) Being a runner, I enjoyed running the 3 mile loop by the golf course several times during our stay.

The house was perfect for our family! We had a great time!

Great place to play and relax!

  • 5 of 5

This home was so comfortable and perfect for our large group of family and friends. The pool and beach are a very short walk away and both porches are perfect for chilling at the end of the day or before the activities of the day begin. The homeowners are very accommodating and quickly respond to emails or texts. I would definitely choose this home again when vacationing at Wild Dunes.
