Cottage, 6 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 12-15)
This is an amazing property!! The main cottage (3 bedrooms) was built for us in 1992 and was featured in Fine Home Building magazine. The builder wanted to build someone's dream cottage. We asked him to make it feel as if you are outside when you are inside. He put windows all around, including a second level of windows with 16 foot high ceilings in the main room. It looks like a pagoda.
It is also on the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. I discovered it when my oldest child was 3 and have been going back every summer for 28 years. After renting for over a decade, we bought land to build. Bobs Lake is one of Canada's largest wilderness lakes, with 400 miles of shoreline, yet many coves and islands throughout.
This property is on an island. We added a two bedroom guest cottage, and a very romantic adult tree house, with skylight, lead beveled glass front door, and a stained glass window. We also added a half size basketball court, lit at night.
It is a wonderful place for family gatherings because with three structures you can have the privacy you need and also the togetherness. We have lots to do, in addition to the lake, we have a large punching bag and gloves, and lots of board games and puzzles,The sunsets are amazing and so are the sunrises if you are up for them.

A real treasure!
Great location! Lovely Host! Comfortable cottage! I would definitely recommend a stay here, particularly for a large group or family (12-15 people).
Great island complex on beautiful lake
This vacation is for those wishing a true Ontario lake cottage experience. Bob's Lake is wonderful, very beautiful vistas and sunsets, relatively underdeveloped (compared to the Muskoka's),
This compound is relatively old with a long staircase to the water (70+ steps) and complicated septic system. If you are looking for the convenience of road access, new construction, air conditioning, true flush toilets, etc., I would urge you to consider the other properties offered by the owner. I've toured them and they are quite modern.
Back to Badour Island. The main cottage is stunning with an absolutely magisterial view from the main bedroom. You feel like you are living in the forest with 360 degree views and multiple screened windows. The main section of the cottage provides a great living area with couches, kitchen, and table. The main area of this section can be used to play ping pong or, as we did, to hang the wonderful hammock. The other two bedrooms are nice as well.
The guest cottage has a different orientation so has different views to the West. Also a very nice cottage with small bedroom with bunk beds and a great bedroom on the second floor with it's own balcony. The tree house is cute but we didn't use it -- would be suitable for one or two additional guests.
There are three septic systems on the property. They are not hard to maintain properly but do require a bit of attention. We encountered no problems with this.
The water is fabulous for swimming and is immediately very deep so perfect for diving. We loved the waterfront area with its decks, boats, and shed (with beer fridge).
Marla was a great host who helped us through some of the minor annoyances of country living (like a power outage when we arrived) and ensured our stay was pleasurable.
The surrounding area is fun to explore and there is a decent selection of groceries and other items in nearby communities.
All in all, a very relaxing vacation in a very nice compound on a stunning lake.
It was great hosting you Jordan!! The main cottage was built in 1992 and we do have air conditioning in the fabulous second floor bedroom of the guest cottage. But I agree, Badour is for the total cottage experience. Those wanting more luxury, should stay at The Eagle, HomeAway listing 372663 or see it at www.bobslake.com. You get the same gorgeous lake, but you can drive up to your air conditioned cottage.
