The cabin has log siding and is themed in the rustic lodge style with comfort in mind. The cabin was built in 1993 on the site of an 1950's cabin and was just remodeled throughout. A binder of suggested day trips and park activities is provided in the cabin.

About The Owner

Doug and Maggie raised their two sons here on the adjoining property. Doug moved to Yosemite in 1972 and lived in his Foresta home since 1976. They both worked for the National Park Service for 30 years in Yosemite. Doug worked in historic preservation restoring historic park buildings including the two 1880 era barns on the Big Meadow just down the hill from the cabin. Doug and Maggie's love and knowledge of Yosemite is extensive. A binder of suggested day trips and activities is provided in the cabin.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1977

Why The Owner chose Yosemite Area

I worked in Yosemite and a chance to own a home inside the park was a rare and lucky find in the 1970's and practically unattainable today.

What makes this cabin unique

Foresta is a special community spread out, allowing for privacy and quiet. The beauty of Yosemite speaks for itself.

Yosemite Gem

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little cabin!!! We were not able to stay the full time due to a family emergency, but the few nights we were there were great. Quick and easy access to the park. It was nice to come back to such a quiet little area after dealing with the crowds in the Valley. I have never seen so many stars at night, and the place is dead quiet. Maggie was so great to deal with. We will definitely return to this little slice of heaven.

Perfect Yosemite Stay

  • 5 of 5

Perfect location inside of park, short drive to Yosemite Valley! Cabin was clean, with everything you could possibly need, from kitchen supplies to toiletries to Yosemite books and Free wifi. Will recommend to others and will stay again if we return to Yosemite! Maggie provided us with directions and helpful tips on where to get groceries on our way to park. Maggie and Doug were very helpful and provided us with a perfect Yosemite stay! Couldn't have asked for a better vacation!

Charming Cabin inside Yosemite NP

  • 5 of 5

We frequently use VRBO and sometimes it is hit or miss. Not this time, it was right on the money. Cabin was spacious, cozy, had everything we forgot (seasonings, zip lock bags, cooking oil!). Owner even provided bottled water though the well water was delicious. Only glitch was the septic pump went down, could have a disaster, but owners handled quickly by allowing us the use of the main house which was beautiful. You feel like you out in the wilderness, but really only a couple miles off the main road into Yosemite and 12 miles from Yosemite Center. Our daughter/grandchildren were camping in Yosemite and came over a BBQ. We hiked around the area, watched the sun set and had a wonderful time. Too short as always. We plan a "be back" soon.

Just perfect for a visit to Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Foresta Ridge cabin for 4 nights in early October. What a delight! So centrally located, comfortable, lovely – just as it looked on VRBO. It had everything we needed and then some. We felt secluded up in the beautiful quiet woods, but were only minutes away from Yosemite Valley and Tioga Road. The property is so well put together. The garden between the cabin and the “big cabin” is delightful, along with the patio outside the kitchen door. So well done! We would have loved to have spent more time so we could enjoy both, but we were so busy trying to see everything we could in the area that we were up and gone early in the day, and back late in the day.

The king bed in the large master bedroom was very comfortable, and having such an updated bathroom was definitely a plus. The kitchen was very complete and provided all that we needed. This is definitely the place to stay when you visit Yosemite. We will plan to return, and will definitely recommend this cabin to our friends.

Thanks Maggie and Doug for sharing this wonderful cabin!

Clean and charming cabin in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

My spouse and I stayed at this cabin for 7 nights and it exceeded our expectations. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We realized we forgot to bring tupperware or sandwich bags to bring our food with us on our hikes, but fortunately these items were supplied in the cabin. The kitchen is well stocked (cooking supplies, cleaning supplies, dishes and utensils, basic spices) and there are a lot of toiletries in case you forget something, including bug spray and sunburn treatment. The grill worked great, we took advantage of eating outside and enjoying the garden, and we both slept comfortably. We had no issues with using the internet for web surfing and email. We did not have cell phone coverage at the cabin, but we had coverage at the top of the road that takes you to Foresta, parts of Yosemite Valley, and anytime we were near a ranger station. There is a phone at the cabin.

Yosemite NP is huuuge, so lots of driving is inevitable if you want to visit multiple areas of the park. Foresta is centrally located so that we were 75-90 minutes away from the most northern parts of the park we wanted to experience (Hetch Hetchy), and about 60-75 minutes from the southern most parts of the park we wanted to visit (Mariposa Groves). The drive to Yosemite Valley was less than 30 minutes. My spouse and I sampled a lot of Yosemite during our 6 full days there, and I didn't see any area I would prefer to stay over Foresta - again, considering that our goal was to get to a variety of regions of the park. It's also a great location if you're planning on spending a lot of time in Yosemite Valley but want to have your home base a little bit away from so many people when you want to relax in the evenings, as the Valley is quite busy and congested.
