I have been a resident of Holland most of my life. Almost 9 years ago on 070707 I was married and moved from this house to the outskirts of town to live with my husband, our 8 year old son Caeden and Golden Retriever, Duncan. This house was a labor of love for me and I absolutely love the place. Not ready to part with it, I thought I would like to share it with travelers who may be coming to town...
Elaine Page purchased this house in 2003
I originally purchased this home for myself and lived here for 4 years. It was a labor of love for me with restoring the staircase to tearing out walls and ceilings and updating the entire home. It's really a beautiful place!
Every once in a while my husband and I and our son, stay in the house as a little get away. The neighborhood is so nice for walking and there is a park nearby we also like to head downtown to cruise the shops and grab a coffee as the downtown Holland area is just awesome. Thursday nights in the summer are great as there is entertainment going on in the streets downtown.
My college friends and I spent a long weekend at this VRBO. We had a great time and discussed how we could come back again soon. The home was clean, cozy and just the perfect location. I would not hesitate to recommend except then it might be booked when I want it!
We came to Holland for a family gathering and had a wonderful week in large part because of our lovely accommodations. The wide porch was a real favorite and we spent a lot of time outside. The house itself is nicely decorated, very clean, homey and calm feeling... The house is an easy walk from town and the walkers and runners in our family appreciated how easy it was to head out in a number of directions. Cullen Park/Lake Macatawa was only a 25 minute walk and access to kayaking and and swimming at Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan about 20 minutes by car. I am missing all of it as I write this! Thanks again Elaine...:) We hope to be back next year!
We stayed four nights and the house was great for our family. It is close to the downtown and college campus and certainly met our needs. We used the grill one night and it was nice to be able to pull our vehicle in the garage each night.
My girlfriends and I got together here to have a summer reunion in Michigan near the lake. Elaine and her family have done such a beautiful job renovating and decorating the home. It's located just a 15 minute walk south of downtown Holland where all the shops and dinning are which was fantastic. The home accommodated us all so well and the bathrooms are large so nobody felt like they were on top of each other. Holland State park was a 15 minute drive and a great place to spend the day. Any larger sized grocery we had to drive to. The back patio and front porch offered lovely places to just relax around the home as well.
We spent a long weekend with our family which included two grandsons (age 2 & 5). When we were swinging on the front porch, I asked
what was your favorite part about the trip?" Our oldest immediately answered "the Michigan House!!" We had been to the beach, been to the dunes, the park and lots of ice cream stops, but the first thing out of his mouth was the house. We had a wonderful stay. Everything is there that you need and Elaine and Scott were so accommodating!! We would definitely go back and would recommend it to you and your family if you are looking for a nice place to stay in this area. Thanks for a fun weekend at "the Michigan House!!"
Elaine's house was the perfect location for our ladies getaway for the Tulip Fest. The house is so adorable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well supplied and it was nice to have the washer & dryer to do a quick load before heading home. The location is great too, just a few minutes walk to the downtown area and several parks and just a short drive to all the other activities. I would recommend this spot to anybody wanting to visit the Holland area.
Within walking distance of Holland's downtown area. Perfect house for a couples' getaway for Tulip Time festivities, Hope College parents in town visiting their kids, or just to visit the quaint community of Holland, Michigan
