The owner of this home is inclined to be modest when describing the attributes of her vacation rental to prospective VRBO guests. But, as a former guest who is writing the description below, I assure you that the setting and amenities are worthy of a glowing review!
First, there’s the location. The home is only one convenient mile from the ferry landing and all the activities and shops in the Town of Friday Harbor. Yet, when settled into your waterfront home away from home, breathing salt air and gazing down Griffin Bay to the Olympic Mountains, you find peace and serenity. The expansive view embraces Dinner Island, sunrise and sunset colors dancing on the water, shoreline and beaches, and occasional boating activity. For some adventure, you can stroll down the shoreline path to launch a kayak (bring your own) from the dinghy dock, head down the road for a good walk on Jackson Beach, or set up badminton or bocce ball on the grassy lawn (owner provided.) There’s also a BBQ and when it comes to enjoying a long summer evening, nothing beats the hot tub on the patio and fire pit by the bluff.
Inside, the spacious lower level is absolutely spotless and meticulous in the details. It’s stocked with courtesies similar to those of a fine hotel, including robes, bath toiletries, coffee & tea, spices, and hairdryers. It’s an ideal setup for singles or two couples - two large bedrooms, both with queen-size beds and smart TVs, both with ensuite baths that are separated by the living area so both couples feel private. If traveling with five or six people, the two sofas can convert to twin beds for additional sleeping capacity.
In the living area, there’s a large screen TV with cable service, a propane fireplace, and dining table with seating for six. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with a gas range, granite counters, dishwasher, quality cookware, and many gourmet kitchen small appliances. There is also a washer and dryer.
Everything is here to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy during your stay. The only downside is that you’ll feel sad when it’s time to leave this lovely spot.
