We are both graduates of Paul Smith College located just a few miles from our home on Church Pond. We have always loved the Adirondacks and have spent many happy years in the area vacationing.
Church Pond is a small non-motorized lake. It's a peaceful haven with plenty of solitude and sunny days to fish, swim, or just sit on the dock and read. We are in the St Regis chain of Lakes.
We regularly rent homes via VRBO and this was, by far, one of our best experiences. We were so pleased that they permitted us to bring our dogs along with the family! The location is perfectly placed as to near enough to run errands but far enough away from town, traffic, people, etc. We just loved the size of the home, the screened porch, the fireplace and, of course, the dock and water activities. There was always something to do on water or land. The space in the home was perfect for when we had to head in due to afternoon thunderstorms with a huge basement area for the kids; not to mention the perfect set up for the kids in their own room upstairs. The dock is set up great for fishing, boating and paddleboarding. The pond has fish galore and is a place ready for everybody and adventure. We had kids ages 9-13 who could not get enough!
This place delivered on everything!!! The property is well kept and have everything you will need for a relaxing vacation. We had children from age 1 - 16 who all had a blast whether it was the little ones thrilled to have tree branches in their room to the older ones kayaking in the pond. Every night we made an effort to get out on the dock lye down on our backs and just enjoy the night sky while the call of the Loon provided us the perfect soundtrack. If you are a golfer the course is just around the corner and is worth every penny. I brought my 9 year old daughter with me just to ride along and the wildlife on the course provided more than enough entertainment (deer, foxes, wild turkey etc...). If your looking for a peaceful, fun, family getaway this is your place just don't take my week cause we will be back next year that's for sure.
What a wonderful vacation!! This is not our first time renting this vacation home. We rented when our children were 12 or so and it was a great sized pond to keep an eye on them but give them some freedom. They are now young adults and enjoyed the pond just as much. It was a relaxing time away from the "rat race" of normal life and afforded us time to enjoy our family. We would go back in a heart beat.
Camp Northern Light is a charming, cozy house on a small, peaceful pond. Our group of six adults fit comfortably and enjoyed the canoes, kayak, rowboat, hot tub, screened porch, outdoor fireplace, and dock. There was much to do at the camp and it was close to so many other things the adirondacks offer. The camp feels very private but not isolated, exactly what my family was looking for. The sunset view was gorgeous from the dock. We would love to stay again!
Our family chose this cabin as an opportunity to enjoy the Adirondacks and Fish Creek Pond area while getting that Adirondack cabin feel. It didn't disappoint. The dock and decks were widely used by our 4 small children who took great advantage of the swimming opportunities there. Water toys galore as our 8 year old confidently paddle boarded around in the water and took some great rides with dad on the rowboat and kayak. Fishing with the full assortment of equipment made available led to great family memories. The most used area of the cabin property was certainly the adorably screen room. A treasure. Rainy days and evenings before bed led to hours long board games for our family. Just a great place to sit. Plenty of room throughout the 3 levels for guests to spread out. Extremely clean place. Staying there a week was made easy with fully plenty of household amenities and a functional washer/dryer units. Mom also especially loved the table books for great leisurely reading. Another nice touch, its fantastic proximity to Donaldson's store meant we didn't have to travel to town for any grocery needs. If I needed something, I ran over there (just 3 miles away). The cabin was tucked away enough, but not too much. With a family of 6 that is a true gem in itself. And if you want to leave the cabin and tour the area, take scenic drive around Fish Creek our the surrounding Adirondack area. You will have plenty to see and a great place to come rest your head at night. It was a joy to see that the owners clearly love the Adirondacks as much as we did.
My husband and I chose Church Pond for our first anniversary, and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. We didn't want to stay in a hotel (we wanted to be able to make our own meals) and this was perfect. From the boats on the pond, the hot tub, the fire pit and the fully stocked kitchen- we couldn't have asked for a better place. We enjoyed every second of our mini vacation. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of serenity with us! We hope to be back again!
