Haven Lane Cabin is located on Island Lake of the Whitefish Chain. Island Lake is a smaller lake in the Whitefish Chain so is quieter but still provides access to all the Whitefish Chain has to offer; fishing, boating, restaurants, marinas. Haven Lane Cabin is at the end of a dead end road, so thus has no traffic going by.
Haven Lane Cabin has a private dock where you may moor your boat. The excellent hard sand bottom beach is great for swimming. The cabin is on a beautiful pine studded lot. The cabin also has a fire pit for your use.

About Jon & Kate Dale
Jon and Kate Dale are teachers in the local school district. We have three boys, two are in graduate school and an eleven year-old that keeps us young! We enjoy our summers on the lake and all the activities it provides us.
Jon & Kate Dale purchased this Cabin in 1997
Why Jon & Kate Dale chose Crosslake
We bought the property as because we loved the solitude and peacefulness. We have a home next door to Haven Lane Cabin. We love all the beautiful tall pines. We also liked the closeness to town, 5 minutes.
What makes this Cabin unique
While living here we enjoy all the lake has to offer, swimming, skiing, fishing and just relaxing. We also enjoy all the wildlife, especially the call of the loons.

Our family of five (children 17, 20, 21) enjoyed a wonderful week at this cabin. The accommodations were exactly as described, which were perfect for our needs and the owners were pleasant and and very accommodating. The water pressure was excellent which was surprising given the cabin was built so long ago. We loved it's layout and really enjoyed the front porch overlooking the lake. We felt like we were at a mini resort with all the lakeside amenities and the lake itself is beautiful and quiet. We made frequent boat trips on the chain, but always enjoyed the peacefulness of returning to our quaint get-away. We saw countless eagles and deer while we enjoyed the spacious dock. It was nice to sit down there at night and see the stars so vividly. Kate was so kind in mailing my husband's hat he left behind. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this property again!! Thank you so much!!!
Great cabin vacation
Our family spent a week at this cabin and it was exactly what we hoped for. Jon and Kate were wonderful hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Jon was a great help to get our large boat docked at the landing, and parked on the property. He also gave us a quick tour of the town since it was our first time. We were grateful for his help. The cabin is on a dead end road and it provided the quiet getaway from the city we were looking for. Cell phone service was limited for us at the cabin, although we found it a good excuse to get away from technology. Listening to the loons and drinking coffee on the dock was so relaxing. The screened in porch was perfect for the nights when the bugs were bad. The cabin is rustic, but had all the amenities we needed:fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee pot, stove/oven, and tv with cable. We brought our two dogs with and I was so impressed with the cabin cleanliness. There was no previous pet smells that sometimes go with cabins where pets are allowed. The lake connects to many other lakes, although we spent our entire week on Island lake where the cabin was. It was large enough to enjoy fishing and tubing, yet quiet and away from the traffic on the other lakes on the chain. We enjoyed the kayaks available to use, and the kids loved swimming in the lake. The water was very clear and a nice sandy bottom near the dock that was perfect for kids to swim. We plan to return to the Dale's cabin whenever we look for a getaway up north away from the city. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a rustic cabin to relax and get away from the busy times of day to day life.
We were very disappointed with the "quaint" cabin - ripped curtains, broken refrigerator, holes in the walls, rusted kitchen cabinets, etc. The owners were very nice people, but I wish they would take one week's income from the cabin and make it truly quaint.
Yes, the refrigerator died during the stay, but was replaced with one that worked.
Great relaxing weekend!
My fiance and I stayed at this cabin for a weekend. We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is rustic but offers everything one would need. There is a full kitchen, fully stocked with cookware, utensils, and dishes. Everything was clean and in working order. We appreciated the TV with dvd player and satellite TV for a rainy evening. The cabin offers a private dock and the owners allow you to use the kayaks, canoe, and fishing boat. The lake is clean and clear and we really enjoyed the beautiful view from the deck. There is a fire pit and charcoal grill, and 2 screened-in porches. We loved that the cabin was at the end of dead end road and was nice and quiet. It was just a short drive to town and we had a great time exploring the town of Crosslake. We really enjoyed our nice weekend getaway with our dogs and look forward to returning!
Rustic Retreat stole our hearts
My mother and I stayed at Haven Lane Cabin and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners explained that it was the first cabin on the lake (built in the 20's) with some nice additions -- screened-in sleeping porch (wish we'd used it more) and a 3 Season porch overlooking the lake.
Our favorite parts: daily visits by 14 year old dog, Tucker, view of the lake through the trees, proximity to town- far enough away for seclusion but close enough for an ice cream run, the couch on the 3 Season porch, and the numerous windows that open to catch the breeze and bring in the lapping water and Loon calls.
We thought it important that people know it's rustic - this place is for those seeking cozy nostalgia in a vintage Minnesota cabin, and who will embrace mismatching dishes and furniture and a creak in a door or floor.
We loved this place for what it was- a step back in time and a respite from the hustle and bustle. We cooked and ate on the porch, snuggled up in blankets and read on rainy days and took day trips to Crosslake and shopped for antiques.
Crosslake is very nice and has everything you could need (I forgot all my toiletries and had to restock).
It's nice that the owners, Jon and Kate were just next door if we needed anything - casual and friendly owners who didn't mind if we had Tucker stay for a couple hours. :)
Many, many thanks for a great stay.
