Enjoy making pizza or bread in our new outdoor wood fired oven
We had a family reunion and stayed here for a weekend in may last year. Jerry was very welcoming, showed us around his property and was readily available when we needed him. The back yard was perfect for outdoor activities and sports. The things to do here are endless and the best part? The private lake and great fishing (catch and release of course). Everyone enjoyed there time here and although we had a big group, there was never out of room or felt crowded. We are definitely planning on going back again!
just returned from a week at Turning Point and we had a wonderful time. The ammenities were incredible, I have never stayed at a rental property that was as completely furnished and organized as well as this one. we had a large group and we made meals together, ate together played board games and outdoor games and I never felt like we were stepping on each other. there is enough indoor and outdoor space to accommodate all ages and interests. plenty of space for group activity as well as finding privacy. The home was very clean and impeccably maintained. the photos are great but the actual property is even better. no beach for young children however plenty of space to play, The firefies, loons, frogs, fox and the group caught and released lots of bass. A great time was had by all...
I was on the trip listed in the other 7/23/2012 commentary and I can attest to all that was written. It was a wonderful vacation and I enjoyed being outside in front of the fire, immensely! The kitchen is massive and well equipped. Really, a lovely time!
We had 3 families with a wide range of ages and interests: 78 year old grandma, 6 adults age 43 to 52, and 5 kids ages 11 through 16. Everyone had a GREAT time. The beautiful grounds around the house allowed us to play bocce ball, croquet, and volleyball (all games provided). The private lake provided hours of excellent fishing for small mouth bass (catch and release) and views of some of the most beautiful sunsets you'll ever see. The nature trails were enjoyed by all. Learn how to fill the hummingbird feeder. Those little guys were fun to watch, and you could do so about 3 feet away on the porch. If you have a musican, they even have a piano in the family room! The pizza oven made great pizzas and a great "interactive" dinner project with the kids. Even if you don't use the pizza oven, we had a fire in the fire pit every night and feasted on s'mores. The house itself was so well laid out that we could have great group dinners, but it had enough rooms that our "introverts" could read and or catch a snooze whenever they felt like getting away from the horde.
The owners were so nice and accomodating and spent the time to take us throughout the retreat and show us all the amenities. My wife wished she had a place like this close to us to go with her girlfriends on a scrap-booking weekend. This place will exceed your expecations and the cost will make it one of the most affordable vacations you will ever take at such a high quality home. If we are up in the Hibbing area again it will be our place to go. Some people may say a lack of TV reception is a negative, but we never missed it, and neither will you!
We just enjoyed a wonderful stay at Turning Point over MEA weekend. It was the perfect retreat for our group of 4 families with children ages 7 - 13. We enjoyed all that the property had to offer. The girls spent hours in the woods building a fort while the boys and dads played football and soccer in the large grassy area, and everyone enjoyed a photo scavenger hunt along the hiking trails. We also enjoyed the fire pit and the sauna. The large kitchen was just right for preparing meals, and it was so nice to have plenty of room around the table for our entire crew. It was also nice to have the 2 separate living areas for the kids to gather in one space and the adults in another. Jerry and Mary Jo thought of everything when equiping their vacation home including plenty of hooks by the door for coats, a large empty cabinet for the food and supplies that we brought in, a well stocked kitchen, and lots of racks for wet towels. Everything was so comfortable, clean, and well-maintained.
