GREAT Location! Ocean Sands Condominium - 85 steps from my front door and you are on the beach! Cozy, quaint, clean, comfortable, affordable, and all you need! 2015 NEW PAINT, FLOORING, DECOR. Close to everything. Family-friendly direct oceanfront 108 unit 2-story complex with 600 feet of never crowded private beach, oceanfront pool with a deep end, and a safe, separately fenced kids pool, charcoal grills, picnic tables, excellent surf-fishing. This unit is a studio, 260 square feet with a queen bed and double futon, fully equipped full kitchen, bathroom with kid-friendly corner shower (hi or low handheld shower), a drop-leaf table with 4 chairs, on ground level. No stair climbing! Back your car into free parking 6 steps from your front door and enjoy the security and freedom of keyless entry! This area is called THE CRYSTAL COAST for a reason and this property is located in the heart of it and within 10 minutes of so many attractions and things to see and do! It's a hub of maritime history as a key seaport since precolonial times, having all the modern urban conveniences while still preserving historic towns, buildings, pristine clean beaches, dunes, and wildlife habitat, including the herds of WILD SPANISH MUSTANGS (or BANKER PONIES), whose ancestors swam ashore from shipwrecks in the 1500's on DIAMOND SHOALS in this part of THE GRAVEYARD OF THE ATLANTIC. Shipwrecks were common prior to the erection of CAPE LOOKOUT LIGHTHOUSE in 1859, some of which populated these BARRIER ISLANDS with marooned people also. You will recognize these descendants by the distinct Elizabethan English dialect coined "High Tider" or "Outer Banks English" and you hear it more the further East you go! Combine a visit to all these with a Day Trip to HISTORIC BEAUFORT SITE 7 miles) and their Visitors Center, visit the MARITIME MUSEUM featuring recently salvaged artifacts and cannons from BLACKBEARD'S QUEEN ANNE'S REVENGE, stroll the WATERFRONT, have a fabulous lunch or dinner in one of Beaufort's many restaurants, hop a ferry boat over to CAPE LOOKOUT NATIONAL SEASHORE and LIGHTHOUSE, or take a site or activity specific boat tour or even a dinner cruise, as there are many that launch daily from BEAUFORT WATERFRONT. The recently restored FORT MACON (4 miles) and it's new Visitors Center are open daily with self-guided tours and Living History events and reenactments (they vary) are well worth the visit especially for the strategic view from the top! Directly to the right of the Food Lion at ATLANTIC STATION shopping center (2 miles) is one of NC's Civil War Trails (there is a sign) that starts at the right side of the parking lot. The trail goes back to the sound side of the island where ships and tenders arrived prior to bridges and ferry services. On this trail, untouched by time, you can see the ANCIENT DUNE LINE and huge ANCIENT LIVE OAK TREES, the oldest known on the island. The recently renovated NC AQUARIUM AT PINE KNOLL SHORES (4 miles) is a can't miss attraction! It features a 306,000 gallon LIVING SHIPWRECK tank exhibit teeming with sea life, hands-on touch tanks with sea turtles, stingrays and horseshoe crabs among other things, and many seasonal programs and events that you can find on their website. It's open daily 9-5 and if you are taking children I suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before the 10:00 am feeding time of the River Otters which is a favorite "performance" of children. The new TREEmendous Nature Play outdoor playground opens March 2015. These are just a few of the too many to name things to see and do and if you need help or advice on planning excursions, especially with children, I am here to assist.

About the owner: I grew up 75 miles inland and day trips to this beach were a summer staple along with an entire week at the Oceanana Hotel a few years, which was very expensive because we had to eat out every meal (and probably the biggest reason we couldn't do it every year). After college I moved 4 hours inland for a job and the thing I missed most was the ease of a day trip to the beach. On Labor Day 1998 I saw a listing for a unit for sale here. On October 1 I owned it and on October 10... I gutted it and replaced everything. In 2000 I moved back "home" 75 miles away again and it was wonderful to just hop in the car and drive here without even having to bring my toothbrush. I had children and raised them here almost entire summers from birth so I have figured out how to accommodate and facilitate kids at every age along the way. My kids are getting older now and with that comes wanting to do things with friends at home and wanting to see other things and places so we made the decision to SHARE this little secret! We love this place and it is our second home. It is a very unique complex because it is probably the most affordable oceanfront on the entire island and everything you want or need is close and convenient but it's never crowded here. There are always plenty of things to do and see in the area, even if it rains.
Why the Owner Chose Atlantic Beach, NC, USA:
We chose to buy at this complex due to the amount of beachfront (600 feet) and green space, privacy, family-friendliness, and affordability of the LOCATION, LOCATION!. Everything you need and so many things to do are within 2 to 4 miles - a well stocked major chain grocery store, beachwear stores, playground with swings, slides and water fun, fine dining and fast food restaurants, ABC store, Civil War walking trail, NC Aquarium, Fort Macon State Park, This property has one of the very few pools with a deep end and we recently converted to a salt system, so the water doesn't burn your eyes, your skin smells and feels wonderful and your suits don't fade. There is an on-site coin laundry room which is also very convenient. The walk to the beach is about 75-85 steps! Atlantic Beach has a wide sidewalk system throughout which is wonderful for biking it around.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
This property has renters that come back year after year once they have found out about it! Guests are paying less than a hotel costs but have the convenience of a full kitchen (not all units here do) so they can have breakfast in their pj's if they want to and save a ton of money because they don't have to eat out every meal. You could actually bring a bike, load-in, park your car and literally bike everywhere you wanted to go - it's all so close. Many of the owners and renters are second-generation who grew up coming to this complex and now bring their children. Everyone is pretty friendly. The best cooking charcoal grills I have ever used are brick and mortar and located beside the pool and they get pretty busy during the summer. The local restaurants are fabulous, but if you are on a budget, you can cook the best meal ever on the grills in the ocean breeze beside the pool and then walk 4 steps to the picnic table and sit down and eat. There are bathrooms located beside the pools. The gazebo (there are two) is large and is a perfect place to go sit and enjoy your morning cup of coffee or an evening cocktail or read a book. We have an almost football field size green grass space between the buildings and the dunes and around the pool which is wonderful for active kids as it is fenced and a safe place to play.
