Best Near-Village Home for 7 To13 - Free Parking & Internet

Bedrooms 5
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 1 - 5 nights

About the property

Chalet, 5 Bedrooms + Optional Attached Unit, 4 Baths, (Sleeps max 13)

Bear Trail Inn is a free-standing authentic Austrian-style heritage chalet located on a large, treed hillside lot adjacent Lost Lake Park and trails. The Roote brothers who were pioneers in Whistler started the elaborate valley trail system literally right out back so our chalet feeds directly into the well-maintained biking/skiing/and pedestrian trails.

The chalet has been updated with heated floors, new bathrooms, new appliances and windows and counter tops in 2015 but still maintains it's rustic charm with it's 12 foot knotless cedar clad ceiling and pine and cedar throughout. Enjoy our new and improved hot-tub but return guests also like the spacious cedar indoor sauna. 10 thousand dollars worth of new beds for the Olympics which were held in 2010. Legally zoned tourist chalet operating year-round for over 30 years. Here today, here tomorrow - over 20 thousand return guests! We hope to serve you.

Great for skiing and mountain biking it is a 10 minute walk to the Village and both mountains and a 2 minute ride to the bike park and Gondola. Or, if you want to take the 5 minute bus ride the bus stop is a 3 minute walk away - just far enough to warm you up but not tire you out! Leave your vehicle parked in our free parking lot or better yet come by limo and walk or take a short cab ride with your gear - cabs are cheap and plentiful but most guests enjoy the walk.

Keywords: Great hot-tub outside this authentic Austrian-style mountain chalet - perfect for a short stay or book long term

Why pamela thompson chose Whistler

Bear Trail Inn is located in the best near-village subdivision of White Gold Estates. Walk to world-famous Whistler Village and to both Whistler and Blackcomb. The cross-country trails are directly behind the chalet and the alpine slopes are close by; great hot-tub and sauna and a very quiet location.

What makes this chalet unique

We love the hot-tub after a day on the slopes or after hiking and absolutely love being able to walk out the back yard onto the Lost Lake Trails. Our Finnish guests love our big indoor cedar sauna which has been refreshed summer 2013. You can really get lost here in nature but the world-class village for all sorts of restaurant enjoyment are just a short walk away too. When the whole chalet is not rented Pam runs it as a B&B or B&D so please ask should you wish to have catered meals for a competitive fee - advance reservations always required. We have done weddings/cocktail parties/small corporate events so if we can be any help to you in planning your Whistler vacation or long-stay please just ask. Free parking for standard or overheight vehicles but due to our location really no vehicles are needed as it's a short walk to both mountains or a 2 minute cab ride for drop off in winter or a 2 minute drive to the Day Skier's Parking lot.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great Property for Chilled Groups

  • 5 of 5

Pam was great to deal with. She answered questions right away and was super helpful. Her daughter there greet us and came midway through our stay with fresh, home-baked muffins and to take out any trash we had.

There was plenty of space, plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses, mugs for all of us. Also, plenty of parking.

Perfect for our 12 person group

  • 4 of 5

A group of us that were in Whistler for work decided to extend our stay at this property. We had 12 people and we were able to split the group nicely among the 5 rooms. The living area was not large, but provided enough room for us to lounge around after a day on the slopes. Pam was very helpful and accommodating - we would definitely stay here again!

Owner's Response: This group was lovely and seemed to enjoy themselves. They cleaned up nicely and followed our check-out instructions well however they left a bit before 10 as I went over to meet Josh the organizer shortly before 10 and they were gone. That's the one drawback about the coded entry - guests don't need to return a key so sometimes they leave without saying good-bye - so I hope Josh comes back so we can meet!! Pam Thompson

Lost Lake

Cross country trails for mountain biking and skiing are literally out our back door up the hill. It's a short walk to the Village and to both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Lost Lake is an easy walk or a 5 minute bike ride - great for swimming in summer/skating in winter. Nice cross-country trails around the lake. 11 minute walk to the Olympic Rings in the Village - Free concerts in the park in summer! Easily walk to Whistler Village or it's a 2 minute drive to free day-skier's parking lot. It's a 6 or 7 dollar cab ride if you don't wish to walk - nice walking culture in White Gold Estates which is the closest subdivision to Whistler Village and Blackcomb Mtn base - enjoy being mid-village and leave your vehicles at home or enjoy our free parking with paid snow removal in winter.
