We are a family living in the Washington DC metropolitan area. As a family with two school age children, we enjoy visiting the Massanuten area because of all of the interesting activities offered. We purchased our home in 2006 after visiting with friends that also owned a home in Massanutten Resort. Our family visits Massanutten several times each season and we always have our children bring friends for a special treat for all.
Barry Cohen, owner purchased this house in 2006
Massanutten Resort offers so many ways to have fun, there is never a shortage of things to do. We looked for two years before buying this unique home. Its log construction and all wood interior make you feel like you are truly in a mountain lodge. Its amazing how relaxing the house is. Whenever we arrive, all the stess of the normal work week seem to melt away. Stay in our house and you will see how this happens.
We rented Bear Lodge in early November and unfortunately didn't have the best experience with the management side of the rental. A minor point we were at first willing to overlook, was a slight difference in the cleaning charge from what was stated in the contract and what we were billed. We're now asking for this small amount difference back because of everything else. The cable & TV and hot tub didn't work. We were okay with no cable and TV at first, but then the hot tub didn't work - so it all just kind of added up. We were told we'd get some of our charge refunded due to the cable/tv/hot tub issues, yet we are still waiting for our refundable deposit. Calls to the manager have gone unanswered, though he has finally responded to our texts. Just all seems a little unprofessional.
We had a mini Memorial Day weekend get away and this cabin was fantastic !!! It was very clean and cozy. The pictures do not do it justice!! We will rent this cabin again!
The house is awesome. Very nice, clean, and welcoming. It is obvious the owner cares about this house. The owner is great to work with and quick to respond to questions. Only 5 minutes from the slopes. You couldn't ask for a better location. We would definitely recommend this house and look forward to going back soon.
Our family of 5 fit perfectly in this VRBO. We have rented several homes in Massanutten and found this to be one of the cleanest and most nicely decorated. This is clearly a home for the owners, not just a rental property. We found it clean and in good repair. Thanks for a nice stay!
We had a group of 5 for a week in April and it was perfect for what we were doing. I will definately consider renting Bear Lodge again. The owner was very helpful and was easy to deal with.
We spent a relaxing weekend away here just after the new year, and could not have asked for more. The setup of the house is perfect, somehow feeling both cozy and spacious at the same time. The location feels remote yet is also close enough to grocery stores, gas stations, etc. (which helped when we forgot a few key items for meals!).
The hot tub was ready to go when we arrived, and everything was clean, in great condition, and decorated warmly. I would love to return to the Bear Lodge, and would feel comfortable recommending it to anyone interested in the area. One note: the basement bedroom now has a double bed instead of a pyramid bunk (which was convenient for us as we weren't sleeping the max number of people).
The owner provided great customer service, with a quick response & turnaround as we booked last-minute. Loved our time here...didn't want to leave!
The indoor portion of Massanutten WaterPark is open year-round and is always 84 degrees fahrenheit. This central feature of the Indoor WaterPark has a bit of everything - from water cannons to water falls, and don't forget the giant tipping bucket! There is no way to stay dry! Take a ride on one of five slides before everything melts down!
