Separate and self contained apartment with kitchen on the first floor of a two-story home in Captain Cook. Private entrance with a large and comfortable lanai. Located on a peaceful and tropical acre of pasture with fruit trees and a huge ocean view. No cleaning fees!

Minutes to Ho'okena Beach, Kealalakekua Bay, Popular "Two Steps", Pu'uhonoa O Honaunau- also known as "The City of Refuge" National Park, restaurants, Farmers’ Market, a shopping center with a grocery store. 26 miles from the airport. 16 miles to Kailua-Kona.

Comfortable elevation of 900 feet above sea level provides an expansive view of the coast. Approximately 680 Square Feet inside the studio. 400 Square Feet of private and covered lanai.

Please add 14.42% (GE Tax of 4.16% and TAT Tax of 10.25%) to the base rent. Fully refundable deposit. $200 holds your dates for reservations (1-2 weeks) with a $100 fee if cancelled. $200 holds your dates for monthly reservations with a $200 fee if cancelled. One month rentals (30 days) have a $400 deposit. Deposit increases with additional time. Balance due by check 30 days prior to arrival.

It works out better if the studio is left tidy and the deposit is returned. Full Refund gladly and promptly returned and well within 14 days of departure. It is often sent within 3 days of departure. 98% of deposits have been returned.

The deposit encourages guests to spend some of their vacation time to tidy up before departure.

Due to the ever changing, yet HIGH cost of electricity in Hawaii, (three times the price as on the Mainland) use of the dryer is not included unless other arrangements have been made. ($20/week added to rent.)

Adequate clothes lines and drying racks are provided on lanai.

Complimentary laundry service of sheets and towels when brought out to the shared washing machine.

For three week and monthly bookings-electricity is included up to the average kwts based on the prior three months.

Plenty of Solar hot water (with electric backup for those overcast and stormy days) and drinkable City Water.

Studio has vertical blinds and some light comes in at the bottom of blinds. If you want to sleep in, or need pitch black for sleeping, you may not be happy here. This applies in particular to visitors from Europe due to the time difference.

Sorry, no refunds within 30 days of arrival.

Long term rates available with a one month security deposit, acceptable credit report and score, rental application and references.

No pets, smoking or guests.

Additional outdoor shower for use after the beach. Avocado, papaya, mango, lemon, coffee, taro on property. Fruit trees are seasonal. They do not produce all of the time! Please ask if your favorites are in season when you want to come. Private, fenced and gated. About 680 square feet inside, about 400 square feet covered lanai with sunset/ocean views. Enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful residential property, very private. The accomodation is ideal for two travellers. Car is a must as it is some distance from beaches and shopping(Costco etc...). But it is also part of the charm as it is away from the maddening tourist crowd! The owner was very helpful but not intrusive. Yes there are some guidelines for our stay but each is sensible and ensures a clean well maintained residence. We will be back.

Quiet, Clean and Beautiful Studio

Enjoyed our latest stay at the Middle Keei Road Studio. Very well maintained, quiet and so convenient to Honaunau Bay swimming and snorkeling. A special thank you for the wonderful fresh fruit. Another great stay at the studio. 7 weeks this time and 5 years running. The owner is always upgrading, very clean, roomy for a studio just perfect for a couple. This property is very relaxing due to its location. No traffic noise ( up a private drive) no tourists, a great view toward the ocean, and beautiful grounds. Looking forward to returning. ALOHA

Wonderful Studio

We very much enjoyed our one month stay at the Middle Keei Road studio. It is just as described, and we loved the large lanai area with beautiful ocean view. The studio was very comfortable, quiet and clean, and the full-size refrigerator was a real bonus as we cooked almost all of our meals there. We liked it so much, in fact, that we are returning for a another stay!

Great Stay in Lovely Studo

This is our second stay in the Middle Keei Rd. studio. A great location in Honaunau, especially if you want to escape the maddening crowds in Kailua and points north. Close to shopping and ocean activities and the famed Painted Church Road. For the independent traveler it is a great fit. Now, if we could just find a place to buy we would be there all the time!

Excellent place to stay on the Big Island!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 10 days at the beautiful Middle Keei Road Studio. We enjoyed the close proximity to 2-step beach and Kealakekua Bay for amazing snorkeling. Grab a copy of the guide book 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' for awesome adventures and must see's around the island, there's an app for it too! Don't forget to buy the delicious tropical dreams ice cream at every possible opportunity, it's sold at the local antique shop in town. I have Celiac disease (gluten-intolerance), and having a well-equipped kitchen and fresh fruit at the studio made it so easy to cook for myself. The studio is extremely clean, and completely mold and bug free. There is nothing better than waking up as the sun rises and having a wonderful Hawaiian breeze going through the windows! The owner is wonderful to talk to and made our first trip to the Big Island unforgettable. Thank you!

Former world travelers found the perfect spot to share with others who expect the comforts offered by our accommodations. City water and electricity, quality cable TV and wireless Internet, screened, security (fenced and gated) Nice and new appliances, clean...warm, comfortable and with an ocean view too!

Why B chose Captain Cook

The acre and a quarter of land was purchased over 30 years ago with the dream of one day building a home. The home was designed and built in 1998 with a self contained and separate first floor (the studio). A friend (Magic Sands lifeguard!) suggested in 1998 that we rent out the first floor to visitors coming to Kona on vacation. This has worked out well for everyone. Much of our business has been from repeat guests who have become friends and oftentimes fellow property owners.

What makes this studio unique

Fresh fruits available on the property. Avocados, papayas, mangos, lemons, mountain apple...Peaceful. Pick your own fruits in season.

Please note that May through August are the months when we get daily rain and clouds along with higher humidity. Hence the lower rates.

A lanai to enjoy the tropical breezes with an expansive coastline view. A convenience store 1/2 mile away. Small take out places 1/2 mile away. (BBQ, FishNCihips, Poke and local fresh fish delicacies.) Close to The City of Refuge National Park, "Two Steps" and Ho'okena beach as well as Kealakekua Bay. Many coffee farms in the area to sample their 100% Kona coffee. Grocery store, Post Office and restaurants within an 8 minute drive.
