ALOHA and WELCOME to the Middle Keei Studio!

Separate and self contained apartment with kitchen is on the first floor of a two-story home. Private entrance with a large and comfortable lanai. Located on a peaceful and tropical acre of pasture with fruit trees.

Minutes to Ho'okena Beach, Popular "Two Steps", Pu'uhonoa O Honaunau- also known as "The City of Refuge" National Park, restaurants, Farmer's Market, a shopping center with a grocery store. 20 miles from the Kona airport and 16 miles from Kailua Kona.

Comfortable elevation of 900 feet above sea level provides an expansive view of the coast. Approximately 680 Square Feet inside the studio. 400 Square Feet of private and covered lanai.

Please add 13.42% (General Excise Tax of 4.16% and Transient Accomodations Tax of 9.25%) to the base rent. No Cleaning Fees! Fully refundable deposit. $200 holds your dates for reservations (1-2 weeks) with a $100 fee if cancelled. $200 holds your dates for monthly reservations with a $200 fee if cancelled. Monthly rentals have a $400 deposit. Balance due 30 days prior to arrival.

September 1st through November 30th, 2017:

14 days: $975 ($70/night) + taxes + $200 deposit.

Monthly: $1,675 ($56/night) + taxes + $400 deposit.

No cleaning fees.

County water! Weekly curbside rubbish pick-up.

Cable TV. Wireless Internet.

It works out better if the studio is left tidy and the deposit is returned. Full Refund gladly and promptly returned by mail, and well within 14 days of departure. Usually sent within 3 days. 98% of deposits have been returned.

The deposit encourages guests to spend some of their vacation time to tidy up before departure.

Due to the ever changing, yet HIGH cost of electricity in Hawaii, (three times the price as on the Mainland) use of the dryer is not included unless other arrangements have been made. ($20/week added to rent.)

Adequate clothes lines and drying racks are provided on lanai.

Complimentary laundry service of sheets and towels when brought out to the shared washing machine.

For monthly bookings electricity is included up to the average kwts based on the prior three months to encourage energy conservation.

Plenty of Solar hot water and drinkable City Water.

Studio has vertical blinds and some light comes in at the bottom of blinds. If you want to sleep in, or need pitch black for sleeping, you may not be happy here. This applies in particular to visitors from Europe due to the time difference.

Sorry, no refunds within 30 days of arrival.

Long term rates available with a one month security deposit, acceptable credit report and score, rental application and references.

No pets, smoking or guests.

The Owner purchased this house in 1983

Why The Owner chose Kona Coast

This land was purchased over 30 years ago with the dream of one day building a home as we worked all over the world. The home was designed and built in 1998 with a self contained and separate first floor (the studio). A friend

(Magic Sands lifeguard!) suggested in 1998 that we rent out the first floor to visitors coming to Kona on vacation. This has worked out well for everyone. Much of our business has been from repeat guests who have become friends and oftentimes fellow property owners.

What makes this house unique

Fresh fruits available on the property. Avocados, papayas, mangos, lemons, mountain apple...Peaceful. Pick your own fruits in season.

Please note that May through August are the months when we get daily rain and clouds along with higher humidity. Hence the lower rates.

Great Stay in Lovely Studo

This is our second stay in the Middle Keei Rd. studio. A great location in Honaunau, especially if you want to escape the maddening crowds in Kailua and points north. Close to shopping and ocean activities and the famed Painted Church Road. For the independent traveler it is a great fit. Now, if we could just find a place to buy we would be there all the time!

Excellent place to stay on the Big Island!

My boyfriend and I stayed for 10 days at the beautiful Middle Keei Road Studio. We enjoyed the close proximity to 2-step beach and Kealakekua Bay for amazing snorkeling. Grab a copy of the guide book 'Hawaii The Big Island Revealed' for awesome adventures and must see's around the island, there's an app for it too! Don't forget to buy the delicious tropical dreams ice cream at every possible opportunity, it's sold at the local antique shop in town. I have Celiac disease (gluten-intolerance), and having a well-equipped kitchen and fresh fruit at the studio made it so easy to cook for myself. The studio is extremely clean, and completely mold and bug free. There is nothing better than waking up as the sun rises and having a wonderful Hawaiian breeze going through the windows! The owner is wonderful to talk to and made our first trip to the Big Island unforgettable. Thank you!

We have already booked for our 5th stay, for oct 2016. Can not wait to return., Sometimes I wonder why we ever leave.So comfortable, relaxing, clean, cool, quiet, views, avacados, an amazing place for two. You even have the hulu chicken people on fri and sat selling on the main highway about 8miles toward Kialua. This is the best chicken I have ever eaten. Its a to go place, check it out. The rules for staying in this great studio are not that tough,they only make sense for a property on the islands.We treat it as if it was our home. The owner is proud of the property and works hard to maintain it. Till next time ALOHA

Here in the subtropics, doing your dishes, taking out your trash, putting food in the frig, and leaving a couple of windows open during the day when you leave for air ventilation pretty much takes care of keeping the tropical critters and mildew at bay. Clean, Quite, Comfortable and Convenient Studio

Stayed for a week at this Middle Keei Rd. studio. It is ideally located a few minutes drive from two of the finest swimming and paddling bays in all of Hawaii, depending on surf and wind conditions. Keeping a rental unit mold free in the tropics is virtually impossible. But this comfortable and quiet studio is among the best maintained we have had the pleasure of staying and of course, mold free. The property is fenced to keep wild chickens, pigs, and area dogs at bay, and this leads to a more peaceful and quiet environment. To keep it this way guests are expected to do a little more, to clean up after themselves, keep windows open or closed, depending on weather and rain, to maintain proper ventilation and a healthful environment. In other words, be responsible and do your part to keep this place so nice. Not much to ask and a pleasure to do. We will stay again and look forward to it.

Clean & comfortable

Clean, comfortable studio apartment in more rural setting, away from the big resorts. Enjoyed watching all of the birds and beautiful sunsets over the ocean from the lanai. Appreciated all of the reference/travel books and pamphlets on the bookshelf.

Never Again

The place is clean. Owner lives upstairs and makes the experience very uncomfortable. Rules, rules and more rules. She will actually yell at your guest if they pick you up incorrectly. The bed is uncomfortable the pillows awful. The outside table broken. Notes left to renters on mamogram note pads. Only slept there. Couldn't wait to leave. This was the worst rental experience. Couldn't close the windows as this was against the rules. The price was fair but I would have paid more for a comfortable accomodation.
