About Tina Caswell

I am a retired disabled Viet Nam Veteran. Twenty years civil service and now I am taking time for me. You'll find me on the golf course any day there is sunshine.

Tina Caswell purchased this house in 2004

Why Tina Caswell chose Arkansas

I found this location with it's many amenities searching for an area that would allow me the most time on the golf course. The winters are mild and the spring and fall are long. The courses are very well cared for and seldom crowed.

What makes this house unique

My home is located in a private gated community. You'll find eight golf courses to choose from. If golf is not your game, there are many other activities on the calendar here in Hot Springs Village. You'll find tennis, basket ball, mini golf, and much more. The Village has eight lakes to fish on or play in! The historic town of Hot Springs is near by with horse racing, bathhouse row, shopping, fine restaurants, antiquing and so much more.

About what I expected

  • 3 of 5

The directions to the property were a little frustrating. We were told to check in at a gate. The gate is a guard shack to make sure all vehicles entering the Village have a permit. The guards were not expecting us and acted like we were a couple of idiots. I showed them my email with the directions to the property and directions to check in. One of the guards recognized the owner's name and commented on how maybe eventually she'll learn. He said they ask owners who rent their properties to give them guests names so they can just ask the guests name and give them a temporary permit easier.

Leaving the next day, GPS took us a different route instead of through the gate we entered. Trying to leave the Village, we came to a gate that required a permit to open (even to leave). Luckily the gentleman behind us got out of his vehicle and let us out with his permit. It would have been nice to know we had to leave the same way we entered.

The house was as shown in the pictures. I was actually more impressed with the living room/kitchen than I expected. The rest of the house could use some updates. It didn't feel especially clean. The shower curtain had mold and the towels that are supplied look like leftovers from a garage sale.

The hot tub smelled funny. We decided, hopefully, it was the cover and not the water in the hot tub. The hot tub was gritty. It could have either been dirt that had previously blown in when other guests used it or it could have been the rotten head rests dropping foam particles into the water. Either way, you just drink enough alcohol to hope it kills whatever may be in there.

When I booked this, I didn't have very high expectations, I just needed a place for us to stay on our way to Tennessee. For that, it worked fine....but next time we're in the Hot Springs area, we'll just find a hotel.

Cozy home with a lot of charm and all of the amenities you need. Beautiful setting!

  • 5 of 5

I truly enjoyed my visit here, but my favorite time was eating breakfast on the patio while listening to the birds chirp and staring up into the tall pines trees with a blue sky back ground. The home has great charm and all of the amenities you need. It is quite spacious and loved having the two car garage. The master bed was comfy. The bathroom is fully stocked with shampoo, etc. if you needed it as well as the kitchen was stocked, including coffee and condiments. The next time I travel back to Hot Springs/Village, this would definitely be my first choice!

Comfortable house

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed the stay. House and property were nice and clean. The only issue was the house was too warm (thermostat set on 80) and it took a while for it to cool down. The neighbors were friendly. While my wife was cooking breakfast, she realized we forgot flour. The neighbors gave us some flour and some pamphlets on attractions in the area. Would definitely stay again.
