I am a college graduate and a successful in the bay area. Married with 3 children.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
We purchased the property in 2005 for our own use. With the busy schedule of the children, we are not able to use it as often as we planned to. So, we decided to use some of the weeks for rental.
We have a stunning ocean view which has an extremely calming effect. Very beautiful and family-friendly beach. Close to amenities that all in our family enjoy.
This is the second year our Bunco Ladies group has stayed at this home, we love the deck and the view, all bedrooms are spacious, and so is the dining and living area. The kitchen can use a little updating, really would like a different stove, but meets all needs. It is a comfortable place and we will be returning again.
My Family spent 4 days here and give the house mixed reviews. The view from the deck is beautiful with a full view of the ocean over the row of houses below it. The home is adequately furnished and can comfortably hold 10 people. it is very spacious for a large group. It is NOT however, "luxury" accommodations. The kitchen is adequately furnished with everything EXCEPT there are no wine glasses. The furniture upstairs is in good shape and adequate. The beds are ok but certainly not the most comfortable things. The coverings on the beds are VERY OLD and I would say in bad need of dry cleaning or laundry. (Sheets etc were fine). The carpet is in need of professional cleaning as could much of the house . For instance the railings going up and down the stairs were sticky and seemed to have not been cleaned in years. On the other hand the kitchen and bathrooms were very clean. It looks like the place has had no upgrades for years. It is a rental - and it looks like one. Having said that I must also say we had a great time. The beach is a 5 minute walk away and is very nice and like I said the view from the deck was great. BEAUTIFUL sunsets! The area around the house (Seascape, Capitola etc.) is wonderful and a great place for a getaway.
I, my wife, and three daughters (18-25) spent 5 nights here and had a wonderfully relaxing vacation. We live in nearby Silicon Valley and the kids had friends visit and spend a few nights. Everyone loved it. The views from the family room and deck are outstanding. We could sit on the deck and see seals, otters, dolphins, and even whales playing in close to shore. The nearby beach, just a relaxed 10 minute walk away, was wonderful for walking, sitting, body surfing, etc. My wife and kids have gone to a lot of beaches in the Santa Cruz area, and this is now one of their favorites. The house is very lived in, so if you're expecting 5-star furnishings you'll be disappointed, and this is the main reason I've taken a star off the rating. But the rooms are large, the beds are comfortable, kitchen is well stocked, you have everything you need for a very comfortable stay. And did I mention the view?
We were in the Aptos area for our son's wedding and were thrilled to find such a lovely place to stay. We had a wonderful dinner out on the deck and the view is amazing! The rooms are spacious and we had everything we needed for a perfect stay!
This is a beachhouse in a pretty quiet neighborhood that has a spectacular view and deck and is about a 5-minute walk to the ocean. It would be ideal for large families (our group of 11 spelt just fine) or really just about anyone. There does appear to be some sort of noise ordinance, so I wouldn't use this place if you're expecting to have a large party. It isn't luxury per se, but it is nice enough, very clean and the kitchen more than suited our needs. There's also Seascape Village about two miles away, and it has restaurants, sundries and really anything else you might need. The owner, Ed, communicated well and was easy to deal with. Really, we had no issues whatsoever. TV was fine, internet worked fine. I could have stayed out on that deck all day.
First, I will say the view is stunning but that is where it ended. We found the actual accommodations were less than satisfactory. Nothing was clean. The pots and pans had been put away with food caked on them. The lamps were missing knobs making them inoperatable - that is, if they even had a light bulb. The TV in the master bedroom appeared to have come off its base at some point and only worked if angled properly (not to mention that the remote had no batteries). It's great that they offer a BBQ, but what about tools to cook with? Nope! We were never able to access internet even after contacting the owner. No screens on windows, downstairs bathtub fills up with 3 inches of water while showering, upstairs bath does not plug making it impossible to take a bath. All in all, things did not appear as if a cleaning party had been in. The table's glass top was not clean. You began to doubt whether you should crawl into bed. Again - not worth the money! Will be looking elsewhere.
