Great to hear that we are back helping people create wonderful memories. We were out of state when the change to Omni happened, and let's just say housekeeping got off track. We now have our home back in order. Everything is beautiful and working. Amelia Rentals is our new management team, and Trent Maddox (owner) Lori, and Dawn are all terrific. We just spent a week here and loved every minute. Awesome fires at night (new cord of wood yesterday), clean warm pool, ...we just love 17 Beachwalk
Nice home, with plenty of space but...the owners really need to look into getting an outside laundry service. This is a home that can accommodate larger groups/families, and as such every single towel and piece of linen will be used. At 4 pm check in time the cleaning service (who were very kind) were still doing laundry. At 6 p.m. we were very ready to start our vacation and I told them I would finish up (because what I really want to do after driving 6 six hours with a car full of kids is finish another guest's laundry). The only other issue we had is that there is no shower in the downstairs king bathroom (three sinks but no shower - go figure). So...not optimal if you are sharing rental with another family, and have to use shower upstairs. The laundry in the bathroom is a little different, as well. Otherwise...it is a lovely home, very comfortable and in a great central location.
Our week was perfect. This house was ideal for us, our kids and grand kids. The pool is brand new and they have a big family room, so we spent most of our week right here. Great kitchen too, with everything you could need. Bedrooms are clean and comfy. We did walk down to the new Omni and it is top rate. Didn't think they could beat the old pools, but they did. Fernandina Beach is consistent. We like Brett's on the water, the ice cream/fudge shop on Center st, and T Ray's for breakfast.
My family and I just ended our vacation at this rental and overall had a good time. The house was lovely. It was very nice being able to be together. I loved the open kitchen, and the fact that the spice rack was completely stocked thanks to past guests. It was located in a central location on the plantation so getting around was easy.
We did have a few issues. Unfortunately my husband and I were given the room upstairs that's bathroom housed the washer and drier. The room has a trundle bed, it smelled like mildew and mold and it felt like it hadnt been cleaned. The washer and drier occupying our bathroom created a lack of privacy for us considering the rest of the family was using the "laundry room," often. The TV in the room only tuned in to cartoon network and the remote controller was locked so we just left it off.
Other complaints include the pool room/pool bathroom - it smelled like death, and a swarm of flies flew in my face when I opened the door; dont think it had been cleaned in quite some time. The pool deck was extremely narrow and did not allow for sun tanning around it. I think a TV improvement could stand to be made, its position on the floor was a little weird but we made due.
Please be aware that the Amelia Island Plantation amenities card costs $75 per card for 3 days, and that the house is approximately 10 miles from downtown Fernandina Beach and 70% of the restaurants and shopping in the area.
This rental is located in the plantation which is nice. This house works for families and groups coming to a conference at the plantation. Actually it would work if the third party vendor would clean and repair the unit before you arrive. It wasnt ready for us to rent. 10 of 13 outdoor lights did not work. The pool wasnt cleaned. The house had a water leak, and they put the rug from the dining room out on the deck and left it. Dirty towels in the dryer. The microware never worked. Mice feces all over the upstairs closet. The desk was filled with sticks, leaves, and some trash when we arrived. The patio furniture hadnt been cleaned. The pool house is filled with pool toys, paint cans, mouse feces, and broken things. Good luck figuring out which light switches turn on which lights. I complained several times and had a maint man fix some of the items, but ultimately I had to go to the desk and complain a 3 time. The ended up knocking one day off my bill. My time and inconvenience was worth more. Dont rent. There are obviously better choices.
