The Ridge Road Cabin is one of the nicest all-year cabins/cottages available in the area and is open year round. The Cabin is fully equipped with furniture, linen, fully equipped kitchen, gas fireplace, cable TV and DVD players, as well as an IPOD and MP3 speaker docking station. The Cabin also has a collection of movies, books and games for those times spent indoors.
The Ridge Road Cabin is located on an acre, on a no through road, with lots of seclusion and privacy, and just a short half mile walk from town. It is peaceful and quiet and it is surrounded on three sides by trees and woods. When you wake in the morning, in the main bedroom king size bed, look out across the ridge and trees to the Lake Superior's skyline. You may catch a glimpse of Lake Superior's water after the leaves have fallen in the fall. Sunsets can be magnificent from the second floor master bedroom at anytime of the year as you get the low sky colors at dusk. You might also enjoy sitting on the deck watching the sunset or the deer making their way through the woods, or sitting by the fire pit at night with little, except firelight, to interfere with your night sky.
The environmentally friendly cabin is all electric, which means you get just clean Upper Peninsula Michigan air. The gas fireplace is for extra ambiance and back-up heat. The beds have soft white comforters and warm fleece blankets, quilts or coverlets.
The Ridge Road Cabin now has two bedrooms and a small loft area on the second floor. The master bedroom has a king size bed, and bedroom two has a full bed, perfect for two couples. The loft area has a loft L-shaped bunkbed (2 large twins). There is some additional bedding available at a small fee (see the notes under "rates"). On the first floor is the living room, kitchen and bathroom as well as the deck area and garage. The set up is ideal to allow some people to continue to sleep while the remainder of the guests are using the living areas below.
In summer, spring and autumn, laying in a hammock beside the deck, and reading a book while waiting for your dinner to grill, is always a favorite. The cabin has a large gas grill on the deck as well as a fire pit in an open grassy area. There is also a small charcoal grill available for use.
The driveway is paved and a good size for boats and snowmobiles and trailers. A large attached lockable garage can house the car or motorcycles. When your car or motorbike is not parked, take a drive or ride down to Sable Lake or the dunes or to the start of the many walking trails in the area. The Cabin is center to accessing the snow mobile trails, both east and west of the town. In summer, it is just a short stroll down to the lake for a swim.
The Cabin's location is approximately 0.38 of a mile from the lake as the crow flies, and is approximately 0.5 mile from the lake and center of town by road. There are a number of quaint restaurants and bars in town within easy walking distance, if you like to walk. The West Bay Diner and Delicatessen has an excellent chef who makes fresh bread and dishes made from scratch, and it is all contained in an old fashioned diner facade. The Dune Saloon makes a mean pizza and some very good beer,, and is the favorite watering hole for the locals. The Breakwall Bakery and Cafe is also popular with visitors.
You'll relax at the Ridge Road Cabin.

Wonderful Father, Son and Grandfather getaway
Your cabin worked out wonderful for our first annual father, son and grandfather trip. We couldn't have asked for a nicer time together.
Clean, roomy, private
This is a very nice, clean house to stay in. Very comfortable for the 4 people I stayed with. I did like how there is a garage because it snowed a bit while I was Up there. I stayed here for 3 nights and had something to do everyday. It’s a great location because you’re not too far from town Incase you need to grab something, but also far enough way to still feel secluded. Only thing had an issue with was the people I stayed with “claimed” they heard footsteps and knocking throughout the night, wouldn’t be too worried about it though. Would recommend to friends/family.
Clean & Cozy
Modern with electric heat and kept CLEAN. Great for snowmobilers with garage, except for bare gravel streets in mild winters.
Clean, cozy and comfortable
Very well taken care of, the cabin was a joy to stay in. Close to town and trails, very clean and inviting. We didn't have a single issue while staying, I highly recommend.
Wonderful place to stay for snowmobiling Clean as could be. One exception-- Pet hair on bedspread Big turn-0ff for me. Next time no pets rental.
Thank you for your review. I believe that we, the owners, were the last people to stay at the cabin with pets prior to your stay. We believe that pets are part of a family. I apologize if we missed a strand of my dog's fur. We use duvet covers on our bed comforters and wash and change them with each stay. You have to swish them up and down to get them onto the comforter. Maybe it dislodged a hair behind or under a piece of furniture which floated up and down. We do our very best to make sure everything is clean and tidy, but occasionally something small can be inadvertently missed. The caretaker is going to keep an even closer eye out to try and avoid it occurring again. .
Overall great experience. Place was clean and comfortable.
Boat ramp close by for your boat and water activities. Rock collecting and bird watching are popular too. Snow shoe rental (winter), 4 wheelers rental and kayak (summer) - contact Grand Marais Outfitters at (906) 494-3333.
