As former owners and operators of the Log Cabin Inn Restaurant and Cabins we found we missed living on the property so much we had to purchase one of the fabulous new cabins. Now we can still enjoy our experiences and respite time in this magical place. We also have many hikes we love to take, the most difficult decision of the day is, which one today? The web site for the Log Cabin Inn outlines even more information about the site and the area.
Relaxing in front of the fireplace to the sound of the river in this setting is unique. Grab your fly rod and walk down to the river to wade out in several places and cast a fly.
We enjoyed our short stay on the McKenzie and the accommodation worked out perfectly. The "cabin" was great!
Anyone who rents this property will be delighted! Cabin is newer construction with a fully equipped kitchen, easy access to outdoor activities, clean and comfortable with the lovely sounds of the McKenzie River to greet you every morning and lull you to sleep at night. Beds are comfortable, bedrooms are roomy, bathrooms are lovely. The common areas are perfect for gathering throughout the day to play games, cook together, enjoy the gas fireplace and visit with old friends. We arrived a bit later than anticipated and had some trouble finding our way around - we hesitated to call David so late (after 10 PM) to ask for help but he could not have been more gracious. He even was able to come up the drive to meet us and make sure we found our way. He was accommodating and easy to work with while making the reservation and communicated clearly throughout. This was the first time I worked with a property owner via VRBO who did not use paypal but I would encourage anyone who might be worried about this to set those worries aside. David is a straight shooter you can trust. Our one regret is that we did not have more time to spend in this lovely cabin. We will return with more time to just enjoy the surroundings and relax in the best little cabin at the McKenzie Bridge!
We stayed here for 4 nights on the second weekend in July 2010 because we could catch the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta on Friday and the Quilt Show in Sisters on Saturday with the cabin location being a good in between spot. The cabin was new and nicely decorated with pine interior and a comfy couch my husband fell in love with. We were a little worried when we realized there was only one window air conditioner upstairs for the whole cabin but it worked out just fine and at night it cooled down nicely even though it was hot that weekend. There is a screened in porch with chairs and a table with a lazy Susan that was perfect for playing Scrabble and listening to the river. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, etc., the beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. I thought from one of the photos that the cabin was right near the river's edge and it's not. There's another cabin beside it that blocks the view somewhat but the river is quite close and you can walk right to it. The owners are very nice and friendly and were staying in the cabin next door. If you go for fly fishing I would recommend drifting with a guide. We brought our waders but found the current was very fast and there weren't many spots to access the river on foot. The Mckenzie River Trail is about a mile or so from the cabin and is great for mountain biking or walking. There is a deli nearby that has internet access but we did not have it at the cabin. 4 adults and 2 smaller children (for twin beds) would find the cabin very comfortable. This cabin is on the end and there is a grassy area on one side that could be good for playing outdoor games. We really enjoyed our time there and would recommend it to others.
The McKenzie River Valley has been a national attraction for spectacular outdoors activitities for over a century to Presidents, British royalty and movie star legends. It has fabulous hiking biking, river rafting, kayaking, drift boat fishing, golf, climbing, sight seeing, anythings outdoors you can think of.
