About Christine Holmes

My husband and I live in NYS. He owns and operates a collision repair shop with our sons.

We bought our first home on Ski Mtn in 1993 after taking a ride up the mountain with his brother and wife who live about 1 1/2 hrs. from Gatlinburg. We sold that home and and bought a cabin in 1996. Then in 2003, I found out I had lung cancer so we sold the home. We thought we would never go back again.

I was lucky. I am now a 14 yr lung cancer survivor.

Christine Holmes purchased this chalet in 2011

Why Christine Holmes chose Chalet Village

In 2011 we decided we would love to buy another home there. We realized how much we missed those mountains and the area.

When we went down, we stayed at Wynstone while we looked at other homes. We loved everything about Wynstone, the high ceilings, the bedrooms with the baths inside them and the fact that there was a yard. We could walk all around the house. We couldn't do that at either of the other homes we had owned there. Plus, the view and the location were both wonderful. Another plus for us was the nice driveway. Easy in and out. Plus plenty of room so we could invite our friends.

What makes this chalet unique

To us the benefits of this home are many. We love everything. The home itself and the location. Just a 10 minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg and the entrance to the park and Ober Gatlinburg. The beautiful mountain views and the surprise visits from a bear now and then if we're lucky.

Both my husband and I enjoy going down every chance we get. Plus the home is large enough for us to invite friends and family.

It is just so peaceful there. A place where we can unwind and totally relax.

Look no further! Perfect for your family!

  • 5 of 5

We left our vacation wondering when we would be able to make it back again!

This home is totally stocked with everything you need for a luxurious vacation. The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen had plenty of everything, and there are books and games for your family to enjoy on those days when you just want to stay indoors and enjoy the comforts of home. Plus, each bedroom has it's own ensuite bath -- totally perfect for any family.

The owner was extremely helpful and easy to communicate with. When I had to contact her for something, she responded right away and remedied the situation quickly. We would definitely come here again.

I would caution families with small children -- there are many breakable items in this house (tiffany-style lamps, vases, etc). We spent the first half hour putting all of those items in the closets so we wouldn't have to worry about them the whole week. Once we did that, we could totally relax and enjoy vacation.

Great property except if you have handicaps

  • 4 of 5

Beautifully decorated and furnished home with a good view on level 2 and a great view on level 3. Owner very helpful with issues that arose both before and during our stay. Very close to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the park. Best stocked kitchen that I've been in. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you are fully able to climb stairs. Unfortunately, we had several people in our party with such issues and it was a challenge for us as I did not realize the main living level was on the second floor and entry from parking was on first level.

Owner's Response: We are very glad you enjoyed the home and view, however we are very sorry there was a problem for some guests with stairs. On the website, "About the property, " under more details, it says that there are stairs to second and third floor. The photo's also list what floor the rooms are on. The second floor is the main floor. You can enter either 1st or 2d floor door from outside.

I'm picky, but this cabin exceeded my expectations.

  • 5 of 5

I can be hard to please. When my family and I stay somewhere, we are mostly concerned about cleanliness. If it even looks a little bit dirty, we will pay extra to leave and go somewhere else. There was nothing to worry about in regards to cleanliness at this cabin. Everything was well taken care of. Clean bathrooms, clean beds, clean kitchen.

This is the first time I have rented a cabin in the Smoky Mountains. I remember when I was searching for a cabin, trying to pick the best one and really not knowing how to choose the best cabin. If you are reading this review to help you decide if this cabin is the right choice, just stop reading, and go ahead and book it. You will not be disappointed. One thing I wanted in a cabin when I was booking this one was exclusiveness. Personally, I don't want to rent a cabin in the woods, only to be surrounded by other cabins/people. At Wynstone, there are other cabins nearby, but I literally could not see any of those cabins when I was there. The trees, and follage block all views of other cabins.

One thing I was able to see, was an AMAZING sunrise over the mountains in the morning from the top floor (this is a 3 story cabin).

We had no issues during our entire stay last week. But I know with confidence, that I could have picked up the phone at any time and called the owner of the cabin and she would have helped me with anything. She is VERY easy to work with, and if you have any questions, even before you book, send an email and she will get back with you quickly. That's comforting, when you are spending lots of money for a vacation rental.

As you are considering this cabin, you might be concerned with the location. Yes, it's up mountain a bit, but isn't that what you want? I surely did. I didn't want to stay right next to the main road. This cabin is about a 10 minute drive from downtown Gatlinburg. The first time you drive up to the cabin, it seems a bit daunting. But after that, you will thoroughly enjoy the drive up and down the mountain each time. It becomes part of the experience.

I don't know exactly when we are going back to the Smoky Mountains, but once we decide a date, I am going to book this exact cabin, again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing our home, leaving it in pristine condition and taking the time to write a review. I have forwarded it to our cleaner. They always take such pride in their work. We have always known how very lucky we are to have them and it means so much to us that you took the time to acknowledge their hard work. We all have an enormous amount of pride in the home, it's cleanliness, upkeep and the comfort of our guests. We hope that you will visit us again in the future. Ralph & Chris and The Polishers
